Back vent can be unscrewed, but it was only that one side with the issue and was just a lot easier/simple to use the high heat gasket sealer. If I had put it together myself I probably would have fixed it while putting it on, but Lowes already had it assembled.
i sealed mine also and siliconed the bottom of where the ash pan goes had a huge gap that even some ash would fall out of, but now any wood chunks i put in there dont ignite, how does yours do with wood chunks now that it is sealed?
How did this end up working? I put a gasket on mine and it made the hood leak worse because of the shape of the door. The gasket held the bottom of the door open further.
It really helped with mine....especially on the sides of the hood which had some pretty large gaps (thats what I get for letting Lowes put it together.). Over all it worked out well for me.
Hi BUMMERS, I was wondering if I should do that to my pit boss 1100 ? Really appreciate all of you're videos keep up the great grilling. Hope you and family have a blessed weekend. (Happy Presidents day. )
I use a bungee cord to hold the lid down to keep it sealed up better
Sounds like a great idea.....
The problem is the lid warps on the back creating a hump that gaskets won’t fix. It’s a design flaw because the metal is too thin.
Thanks for the info
Like you video. Why not use a thinner gasket on the back vent? Can’t unscrew the back vent?

If you mean putting the chunks into the ash pan, I stopped doing that, mixed in good with the charcoal and it makes some really great smoke flavor.
