Emergency Rescue in Bled, Slovenia

- (Filmed in 2017) Our stay in Bled, Slovenia took an interesting turn. I didn't film much of what happened during the emergency because we had other priorities at the time but I really hope the story can help prevent this from happening to someone else. Stay safe you guys!

I would add three things!
5 -- tell someone where you're going so they can call if something like this happens and you don't return when you said you would
6 -- be first aid & CPR certified! I was worried that when you said he had hit his head that his friends would have accidentally done something to make it worse! I was SO relieved when you said you didn't move him bc you didn't want to further the injury! Most people don't know about that, which is why it's VITAL to receive FA/CPR, even just for your everyday life!
7 -- bring plenty of FOOD along with plenty of water! 🤗 Self explanatory haha

I had a similar experience on the Yungas Road in Bolivia, a man in our cycling group had fallen about 40 feet off the near-vertical cliff, and only survived (albeit with multiple broken bones and quite severe cuts) because a few branches from an overhanging tree on the cliffside caught his clothes, and he very quickly managed to scramble himself onto the branch. A helicopter was flown in while the road was shut down. As you can imagine we were all in a state of shock, because the only thing most of us saw, as the road was too narrow for us to be able to stop, was a man flying off the edge of a cliff. Later, our instructor told us that only a week or so before somebody has died by falling off the cliff at nearly exactly the same spot.
I'm glad you stayed and helped, and that it wasn't too serious in the end- I wish I could have done the same.

Hey Claire! I've been binge watching your videos as of late and I do have to say you have a great eye for details and nature. Your filmography is also amazing.
Slovenia, Croatia, and Austria have been in my top 10 countries to visit and I am happy to be seeing some of their beauty through your eyes/perspective. I can't believe how clear the water is that's flowing thru Vintgar Gorge.
Also, you did very well in that emergency situation. Good job.

I agree that Bled is a bueatefoul place and everybody visiting sLOVEnia should go take a walk around the lake (its about 2 hours to walk around slowly) and I am Slovenia..

Can't they get GPS coordinates from their cell phone? If you press on a location on a map, the google maps app puts the gps coordinates in the search field.

Hi, great job helping the victim! The name of the trail is Ojstrica ( Oy stree tza) which is the name of the hill above Lake Bled. Always call emergency number 112 !
