I enjoy when we get these glimpses of just how many variables there are and how your brain is always wondering what benefit there would be if you could tweak the balances. And my personality immediately would send some of those patties out for testing. If only to establish a baseline.
I love the excitement in your voice. I am chomping at the bit to get going as well. Sadly still 6 weeks away it looks like (I am west of Edmonton and still have 8” of snow on the ground and -17 this morning 😂). I noticed after you tasted the patty you took a swig of coke. Maybe that’s the next step you need to incorporate for the bees. Haha. Mix a bit of coke in the Patties 😆
I got some Pattie’s from Global out of Butte, MT this year. That is about 4 hours from where I live (Idaho Falls,ID). I am only using the 4% protein for emergency feeding. I am at 3 out of 4 survival, outdoor colonies. And yes, we still have a tone of snow and still snowing. It is just today warm enough to rain. 18” in my backyard here in town. It’s usually gone by now, willows and dandelions blooming. NOT THIS YEAR!
The more we take control of what God gave us, the more we come to appreciate his help. It's awesome being in the position to make choices and test ideas.
Are your nucs overwintering in a 5 frame box with your other hives in yer shed? Next winter I want to try to over winter some nucs and I get almost as much winter as you in Buffalo NY. I saw you at hive life and lots of other videos and haven’t seen yer “nuc battery” hives. I would love to see a video of them in the spring, can you feed them winter patties in the shed ?
Ultra bee dry is $3.75 here in NS. I use it at 60% of the weight in my recipe. So at $2.25 before I add inverted syrup and other ingredients. I went with global 15% this spring because it was $2.22 shipped to my doorstep per pallet. Last year Global was $4.50 because of the high cost of freight. Patties went on yesterday. It is forecasted 5⁰C for today. Bees are looking strong.
Its crazy to see giant snow banks outside like that. It's 85(29c) outside where I'm at right now. Will be making splits and dropping cells in mini's next week. I'm not looking forward to the heat of the summer though.
Have you see the news story of the young girl who is experimenting with bees to see if caffeine and tea extracts can counteract the affects of agricultural chemical use? I think it said she was in grade 7.
Careful Ian... Don't take too much patty, pretty sure you don't wanna start brooding up yourself 🤣 Seriously though, while having the patties made for you costs money, I'm pretty sure you break close to even (or maybe even better) simply because of the time it frees for you can be used to make more money. BTW, how's the "Big Red" combine project doing?
What is the plan to keep these patties away from the Rodents How high up .... racking Rodent proof room Does partial shipment , a third , a third , a third help control manage the rodent risk versus price , cost Just my analysis kicking in to make the best of a given situation , to combat foreseeable incoming issues Thanks for reading Protect it , it's only helpful if you are able to utilize it
Hello, I am a beekeeper and I live in Paraguay. I did my thesis in Veterinary Medicine about the production of bee honey. Is there any possibility to send you my CV and work with you? thank you very much.

I'll be trying the Apis Biologix Global this spring too. Those cleats look great, painted! They seem to fit as was prescribed.

Makes me feel better seeing you eat some of the patties, I tried to fry one up and eat it lol didn't have seconds. Lmbo
Global grinds down the ingredients for their patties to a perfect size. Makes a huge difference in consumption.

I bet the first solid thaw of spring is like a kid on Christmas. “Wow, I forgot I had all this stuff!”😂
Lol
Thanks Ian I will try the biologic this year!

Thank You Sir
Look like my place here in Duck Bay MB. Worried about the floods this year, I am hopeful we get a slow meld.

We’re do you buy these at ? And are you In the states? Thank you !!
Use global pollen patties too. My helper could not resist trying a bit of one like you did. Her response to the taste was far more negative 🤣

Yummy yummy it's a good thing it tastes good because if your bees die off and you make no honey you got a whole year supply
👍🍀
OK who is going to make the first pollen sub deep fried corn dog?
Hi Ian, what is the diferrent between your patty and one you bought? Good luck.
Basically the same protein base,
I’m not sure what they did for fats other than natural pollen
Do you use 15% in the winter too?
Off topic question. What are the dimensions of your extraction room?
I am driving past hundreds of acres of red nettle and wild mustard so my patties are free.😀
FYI mice love pollen patties

What plywood are your covers made of? Or do you dunk them in a proprietary solution?
One must speculate to accumulate.
Which version of pollen patties did you get? 0/4/15% pollen and why? I’ve ordered some of the 15% with Apis Biologix
15%, it’s probably Chinese pollen but it probably helps consumption. Irradiated dead and all
You can get few boxes for me ☺️

Sourcing engine parts
Slow go
You have to do what you have to do with the time you have

Can one order the "Steppler mix" from Global?
Maybe if you order through Dancing Bee depending on freight of course
In the US Hillco said they had some. Not sure where you are from.

Yeah I’m in Edmonton eagerly waiting to get going. Fair weather is almost upon us!
