- HAPPY WEDNESDAY FRIENDS - here is my journey to studying dentistry in the UK and the University of Leeds! I'm currently a fourth year dental student, and I thought since dental applications are approaching, It's a good time to share my experiences and share a few tips!!
My journey to dentistry:
1. Why dentistry - how I came about to knowing it was what I wanted to do
2. How I started my journey - looking up unis and knowing their entry requirements
3. UCAT and BMAT course - I gave myself 4 weeks to revise for both
4. Started my ps - ended up doing roughly 25 drafts
5. Got work experience
6. Revise revise revise for A-levels

My GCSEs are around the corner and I’m feeling confident. I hope to get as many grade 8s/9s and want to pursue a career in dentistry in the future🤩
By actually I’ve completed my high school in Nepal and I am going to settle in the uk after 2 months. I’ve heard that I need to start from GCSE in order to study dentistry in future . I would like to know which gcse subjects do I need to choose for dentistry and what’s your choices? And how many gcse do I need to take? Genuinely seeking for help.

Your videos are ACTUALLY helpful and I really appreciate how you give personal experiences as this is really useful. Its really great that you are offering to help as its so daunting! I am currently in year 13 and will be applying for dentistry this year for entry in sep 2021. I have written quite a lot and am struggling to cut it down because I don't want to take out things that are actually needed in the ps- if you could help with this? Aswell as obviously you being an experienced dental student so you could help with any ideas for other things to add and ways to make it stand out. Don't hold back! Umm this is weird but i am a 12 year old and i want to be a dentist it is my dream so like yeah.
Hi elena this video was quite useful however my question is that I’m a student at Leeds city college studying level 3 prep health and social care and also got a diploma in level 2 extended health and social care.In just don’t know how to get to where I want to be.Should I go for apprenticeship or go to uni
Hey! It’s a tough one and really depends on what you want to do in the future. Some things you need a university degree for and others you need to have experience as an apprentice! So first think of what it is you’d like to do, for example for dentistry, you’d need to go to uni! I hope that helps x
Hi love what was your offer could you tell me the acedemic side of the alevels. I’ve been told that Leeds doesn’t even look at your personal statement and only look at your gcses and Alevels. Would you be able to tell me your a level and gcse grades I’m only in year 13 but I would love to go to Leeds and I’m kinnda stressing
how do dental students at leeds do accom? like, after halls in first year, is it more popular to move into a fat student house, 2/3 bed apartment, back w parents, solo flat etc?
Hey! So in first year 99% of students live in university halls! And after that you move out into a flat or house that you find with your friends or on your own ☺️
@@elenashahir4846 thanks for the reply, also are the y1 lectures compulsory to attend?
@@ps0116 So technically all lectures years 1-5 were compulsory and you needed 90% attendance to pass! But now with online stuff and pre-recorded lectures its much harder to track so I don’t think at the moment they have the capacity to enforce that! But it’s obviously best to go haha

Hey! I did a lot more than they asked for just so I could be sure I enjoyed it. As long as you have the minimum requirements they don’t mind!
I did Tuesday after school for 3hrs every week for two years and two weeks in hospital as well as Saturday every week in a private practice for about 4-5 months

Hey! At Leeds they look for at least a Grade B or a 6 🥰
