Hi, I’m the one who made the hot take about 3d and 2d animation and I just wanted to apologise in case my comment came off as rude over how you said you disagreed with the comment. To clarify, I don’t hate all kinds of 3d animation as movies like inside out 2 or elemental do incredible with 3d animation. However, I do tend to get very tired of it due to how frequently it’s been used. We haven’t gotten a 2d movie from Disney since princess and the frog nearly 16 years ago after all, and I just have so much more love for 2d animation due to the amount of time and hard work in hand drawing. And personally I find it to have a lot more charm and expression and overall find it a lot more mesmerising. But thank you for reviewing my hot take and again I’m sorry if my comment came off as rude towards you
I’m gonna be honest I actually agree with you on that. Both 3D and 2D animation are great, I just wish there was more of the latter since it feels like it’s been greatly overshadowed by 3D. (Gotta shout-out stop motion as well, the rarest and my personal favorite of the animation mediums)
I'm not sure if this even counts as a take since it's based on factual evidence, but I don't really consider the Mario Movie as an Illumination movie, and don't think it should be compared to the rest of Illumination's films. Nintendo had a huge role in the movie development, forcing Illumination to go outside of their comfort zone, and using a much higher budget for the animation. Nintendo also likely had an influence on the story and writing, which is why the movie's humor feels so different compared to normal Illumination films. I've always felt negative towards Illumination as a company for their movie quality and their approach to making them (although I have started to enjoy some of them in the last couple years). People consider the Mario Movie to be an exception but I just don't think it should be held to the same standard. I hope I got all my facts right. Great video and happy new year!
I'm going to die for saying this. Indie animation has done some truly great things, but I don't know if it should become the gold standard of animation production when we have indie projects like Our Drawings, where the creator doesn't put even an iota of effort into it yet still believes they're the GOAT of all animation and insists their work is superior to everything else that has way more thought put into its production.
I think it’s just some of the American studios have put out a few duds and people are noticing some indie bangers and because nuance is dead in most of the internet people are assuming that Hollywood will never make another good move and indie and anime will dominate until the end of time
I actually like how when you were talking about ai replacing human artists, you said" ai replacing something we actually want to do." Cause the point of ai and robots is to replace tasks humans DON"T want to do. Like filing documents or small manual labor. Not stuff people are interested in or passionate about like animation. Also hot take (not really): enjoying animation as a medium is great, but it should not be one's entire personality. Also if someone has genuine criticisms of something you enjoy, your reaction should not be to feel offended for differing perspectives.
It should do that though because for a lot of people, they want to see a show or a movie not because it was what someone else wanted to draw, but instead because they wanted to see it. If that can be done at a lower cost thanks to automating more parts of the process, then that's great for everyone who then can afford to see and make more movies and shows.
@@FoggyMemoryProductions I want to see more storytellers make their stories a reality and I think they should be free to use AI to lower costs to be able to create what they otherwise could never afford. And I think consumers should be free to choose to watch these shows if they want to.
@@8is The issue lies in the difference between those who would use it as an assistance tool versus those who would use it to simply replace an entire team. The issue is major companies using ai to make stories without any humans. There is a difference being cost effective and not wanting to pay people.
@@FoggyMemoryProductions There is no difference; replacing an entire team is the entire point so we can reduce costs to the point that storytelling isn't just something the big studios can afford but is also something ordinary people can do. I want more people to create stories-including the animator that, instead of drawing some big studio's ideas, should instead be guiding an AI to make their own visions a reality.
9:19 i agree with that guys take . I also think that its important that people broaden their tastes in all forms of media. Whether it's animation, live action, video games, or music and hopefully this year more animation fans will see what the medium is truly capable of, and while children's entertainment can be fantastic (Gravity falls is one of the best shows i have watched and owl house was pretty great) its important to not limit ourselves to just that age demographic because it limits our willingness to try new things i should know i was like this two years ago unwilling to try anything out of the pg 3-7 range of animated shows or movies and it stunted my palette. Please let it be known that I'm not insulting people for liking children's shows because i also like children's shows. I'm just saying that it's important to try things that are made for different age groups . Anyway, happy New Year
@olleselin Well, i mean, season one was pretty boring, but season 2 & 3 were great, but I felt like they needed more time to cook because some plot points felt rushed, which was Disney's fualt. Willow was just a plank of wood and gus didn't get enough time to himself. Luz and Amity went from enemies to friends to lovers a little too quickly, and sometimes, the animation would be really stiff and weird. I've been meaning to watch that show for a while it looks pretty good. I'll watch it when I'm finished, dandadan
@olleselin willow barely had a personality other than being nice. She had a lot of potential to be interesting because of her being, but she is only one character and doesn't ruin the show, and most of the cast range from good to great
@olleselin alot of episodes in season 1 are pretty pointless, like the body swap episodes or the episodes that take place in hexside other than the Basilisk episode suck
for the people who want more heavy animated shows, full stop, I'd recommend The Dragon Prince on Netflix. It's animated fantasy, it is a kids cartoon, but the emotional weight that the show carries (and its queer rep tbh) is unlike anything else on TV right now within its genre and age demographic. Imagine "Amphibia" or "the Owl House" if every character was given Sasha's complexity and Belos' backstory in some ways, and much darker worldbuilding/lore. The show STARTS with a team of elven assassins coming to kill a human king and his son in vengeance for him killing the Dragon King and his child, the Dragon Prince, with great lines such as "You let him live but you killed us all" when one assassin screws up and doesn't kill a guard. Characters go from being enemies to allies/family and the other way around. Characters go through such extreme growth that every 3 seasons you look at them and see a completely different person in their place while still feeling like them, but radically changed all the same, for better or for worse or both. Even the protagonists eventually kill people and are called to make incredibly difficult decisions, and the antagonists are always explored in depth and portrayed sympathetically. There's discussions of the ethics of the death penalty, of restorative justice, of agency and so much more, with a repeated emphasis on types of grief, particularly loss of parents as well as culture/loss of self. At the same time the show isn't just doom and gloom. It can also be happy and hopeful and silly. One of the show's trans characters (as there's four) is a main character from S4 onwards and is unflappably happy and loved. There's a beautiful engagement plotline between two formerly rival generals as they navigate becoming queens, and characters love and take care of one another fiercely. The first 3 seasons I'd comfortably put at Y7 with a couple of moments that push it, season 4 onwards should probably be PG due to the escalating violence/weight (there's multiple on screen deaths, some torture, some alluded to cannibalism) and I cannot recommend it enough for anyone interested in queer fantasy. It's the best
If there's one thing AI Art can be used for, it's being used for coming up with ideas. I've heard some people say that they use it for concept art by making an image, and using it as a basis to make an actual drawing made by them, and have that be the thing they can show the public.
My Illumination comment wasn’t aimed at you specifically, I don’t think I’ve watched any of your videos on Illumination. Personally really enjoyed Sing and liked Migration.
An unpopular opinion I personally have is that I find it (for lack of a better word) "cringe" whenever people say that kids animation tackles adult subjects better than stuff meant for adults Now, this isn't to say that shows and movies meant for kids cannot tackle serious subjects; Avatar, The Incredibles, Inside Out 1 and 2, the first 3 Kungfu Panda movies and Puss in Boots 2 are good examples of kids media tackling more mature themes, but a lot of the times they are not better at this as they have to restrict themselves a lot. For example, I find the ending for The Last Air Bender to be very anti climactic as they had to force a power up on Aang out of nowhere to take away Ozai's powers because the show couldn't tackle the question of "is it ok to kill one person to save millions" in a kids show And I also hate the argunent of "Kids stuff can handle adult subjects better than adult stuff" because it straught up isn't true; shows like Carol and the End of the World, Pantheon, Scavenger's ReignTear Along the Dotted Line, Moral Orel, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop and Kill la Kill and movies like Persepolis, The Wolf House ,Mary and Max, The Breadwinner, Perfect Blue, Flee and Entergalactic (amongst others I can't remember right now) are some of the greatest animated projects I have ever seen and there's no way they could work as stuff made for children
In regards to the topic centered around adult animation, I will say that nearly 3 days ago I began watching Arcane. However, I'm 6 episodes in and I'm just not feeling it. It's not because I'm against adult animation. In fact, I've been trying to branch out a bit and watch more of it. With that said, however, I feel that Arcane tends to rely too much on violence and not enough on balance. Let me explain. See, there are many shows I enjoy that throw in a mix of all sorts of emotions. Avatar The Last Airbender, my favorite series, does an excellent job of blending humor, heartbreak, romance, character development, and action all in one. While there are depictions of violence in the series, it's not something that the characters rely on or the series as a whole. The characters, despite having mythical abilities, feel human. They go through trial and error, and eventually learn where they're going wrong and find ways to overcome that. Now, I understand that Avatar and Arcane take place in VERY different universes. Avatar takes place many years in the past in a world seeking peace and prosperity, while Arcane takes place in a dystopian society where only the strong survive. So it does make sense why the characters in Arcane would rely more on violence, for that's just how their world works. But even the sequel series of ATLA, The Legend Of Korra (which has even more mature themes than its predecessor, might I add) still finds a way to maintain that mixture of action, necessary violence, and relatable characters. For me, none of the characters in Arcane feel relatable. If I lived in the type of universe that the characters do, perhaps. And while I neither live in the type of universe as Arcane or Avatar, there's just something about the ATLA universe that feels more believable, if that makes sense. And, in my opinion, there are other shows on Netflix, like She-Ra And The Princesses Of Power, that have much more interesting dynamics between the friend-turned-enemy type situation. This is just my reasoning as to why I'm taking a break from Arcane for now. I'm most likely going to start a different series, and possibly return to Arcane when I feel the time is right. This comment was not meant to offend any hard-core Arcane fans out there, cause I know that there are a lot. And I don't dislike the series. It's interesting and does leave me intrigued. There's just too much reliance on violence for my enjoyment, and I have to take a break until I'm ready for a revisit. I hope anyone reading this had a Merry Christmas if you celebrate as well as a Happy New Year. And, just to add, The Wild Robot is my favorite film of the year. 💚
Honorable Mention: Big City Greens should have been cancelled instead of Molly McGee, TGAMM deserved a third season(even if it wouldn’t win over audiences after “The End”) and Spacecation should have been that show’s finale
Ai used to be the savior of animation. When it was used to creat sophisticated tracking tools for digital art and image editing that were making 2d animation a much more comercially viable option in the 2010s. Klaus even proved that a hand drawn animation could look 3d bc they had 2 tracking tools to generate light and texture Then we got this imsge generative bs and chat gp and ai trying to be the next mocap nowadays
It may be recency bias, but I think the best animated movie of the year was Wallace and Gromit: Vengence Most Fowl. The climax is probably the funniest thing I've seen this year.
There are kids that are the same age as me and they watch stuff like Hazbin Hotel and liking it and it scares me. To think that a bunch of teens/kids who watch stuff like this seems to tell me about how the generation acts now these days because of adult shows like this.
6:41 Igh don't get me started Nice to here your hot takes and yeah Illumination the later seasons of The Loud House get to much hate No offense but am not the biggest fan of S1 & S2 they still had soke good episodes but others yeah am just happy that it creator got fire and I honestly prefer it later seasons And Hot everything need to be serious and need to look like spider verse remember Wish got that look yeah it did not go well And well I still watch shows I still been a fan for years like Amphibia, Moongirl and Devil Dinosaur, The Loud House, Regular Show, Owl House and serval other's and even shows that I was about to hate end up being good like Primos and Fairyodd Parents A New wish
4:51 I honestly disagree since I am someone who doesn’t mind if the movie is in 2D, 3D (or more commonly CGI), or any other kind of animation that isn’t live action since to me every animation style (if you want to call it that) has its pros and cons. I think the story is more important to me since most movies that was made at least 10 or more years that have dated animation but the story is really good (to name an example Toy Story 1 and 2 since the animation is definitely dated imo but the stories for both films are top notch imo) but yeah it’s totally an preference in animation style which I will respect OP’s opinion on that.
Personally I think toy story franchise animation looked pretty good at the time so sorry I have to disagree with you on that but I respect your opinion
I want to see more storytellers make their stories a reality and I think they should be free to use AI to lower costs to be able to create what they otherwise could never afford. And I think consumers should be free to choose to watch these shows if they want to.
Here's my hot take (so grab your torches and pitchforks and get ready): I really don't like Hazbin Hotel that much and most of Vivziepop's work in general. Why? 'Cause her "humour" sucks. Most of her writing felt like middle school writing that doesn't know when to stop. Like a lot the swearing and sex jokes. I mean, there's a lot of those in every dialogue. 'Cause she thinks it's funny? She does that more rather than writing good stories and characters (which she's not good at, btw, but I digress). I don't know, I feel like she needs to stop doing that type of writing and get better at it. I mean, it's fine to do in some moments, but don't over do it a lot. So in the mean time, I won't be watching everything from Vivziepop ever again. But the only things I can say that is positive is the animation and character designs are really good. And that's it. Also, I still think The Amazing Digital Circus is a better indie animated show, anyway. 'Cause it knows how to be more likeable and memorable. And the humor and characters are better. It's the type of humor I was looking for in a dark animated comedy. So yeah, sorry, everyone.
I kinda agree with you there? But it still doesn't convinced me to watch more of Vivziepop's work again, honestly. idk, I'm very indifferent with her at the moment (no hate on the person, just most of her work). If you still like Helluva Boss, that's cool. I'm happy you do.
Yes, I am serious with my hot take and you’re welcome to disagree. I have a deep love for those movies for their creativity, characters, humor, and overall enjoyment I get from those movies. I knew not everyone would agree, so that’s why I put it.
Did you know that the despicable me franchise is just a ripoff of metal gear solid. Gru is solid snake, dru is liquid snake, and Their father is Big Boss. There is massive tank. Gru loses his mentor figure in the prequel just like big boss. Gru jumps on top of missles like raiden, he wears the psycho mantis mask and he uses goggles just like venom snake in mgs 5. There are more examples but I'm tired
i like to blend between 3d and 2d like spiderman into spider verse or puss in boots the last wish and the wild robot these animated movies are amazing i love these types because there animation types look beautiful i like 2d animated shows like the owl house or Amphibia and gravity falls and phineas and ferb and many more i like inde animation for example murder drones and the amazing digital circus and lackdiasy i like 3d animated like toy story and how to train dragon there lot animated movies and shows that i like and i also like lot live action movies as well like godzilla x kong and so on i mostly like stories something entertain and also going places and going on theme parks i love stories there creative and fun.
13:13 No I am totally serious about this. You could talk about higher profits which is good because that means incentivizing more people to invest in these companies to make more movies and shows (which is ofc good because I like what they make) in order to get in on the profits et cetera. But that's not the main reason why AI could be so revolutionizing and good for creators and consumers. If the ordinary creator didn't need an entire studio and team to make their dream project that they've always wanted, then they could make the things they've never gotten the permission or funding to be able to do. It would not just mean Disney making 3 season a year instead of 1, but also 10 times the The Amazing Digital Circus made by countless storytellers who finally can make their stories a reality. Drastically lowering costs by automation *is* the revolution and I hope we'll get there.
This is right to an extent. HH and HB are expanding the medium of animation, so many people are kinda taken a back. But you are correct, there are many haters who just hate to hate.
i def disagree that people should "broaden their horizons" when it comes to what demographic they prefer. for example, many people like emotive stories and prefer drama and character driven stories, or action, or slice of life. many adult animated shows like these are fewer to find, less common, or cancelled by executives. many popular anime series are in a style or genre that doesnt appeal to certain people. many of those people cant find a lot of animated content because people, for some reason bothered adults like things not made for them suggest so many adult animated shows at once when they should go genre by genre and make rec lists on sites like imdb or something. and not everyone who likes "serious shows" or genre would like morel orel by default, some people are more bojack people. another thing is the "irony epidemic" that plagues a lot of adult oriented tv shows regardless of genre. sure there is irony in many kids shows but there's a certain type of humor/approach to writing in adult shows that can turn people off. many people turn to children's entertainment for nostalgia but also to experience fun and creativity and some feelings that dont really go away with adulthood, they just change. (ive watched many kids cartoons that I havent grown up with, for curiosity and fun and enjoyment and often there are some things i wish like had a certain "vibe" whether it be fun or emotive that are not present in many things for older people) there are plenty of reasons people can seek out animated shows they like that happen to be for kids, because many kids cartoons have a often a different approach to writing that resonates with many people, regardless of age. i feel like its very easy to get burnt out on adult oriented shows, and i like the novelty of the different types of shows for younger people. thats why i like when adult oriented media isnt afraid to push boundaries, especially creative boundaries. it's weird the pushback many adults face for watching kids shows when kids shows often offer things for an older audience that isnt present in adult focused media because of our ideas on adulthood and what would make a good watchable show for adults.
Responding to the "watch more adult cartoon" comment I actually think it's the opposite. In modern day it feel there alot of people who watch a whole collection of adult cartoons but won't give a kid cartoon a try no matter how good it is
Might as well put this down, but whether it be live action, or animated, Educational Entertainment shows (Edutainment) are underrated. My favorite shows include Wild Kratts and Octonauts.
here is mine ... Amphibia is shit i think it shouldn't be compared to the owl house and gravity falls the humour and art style reminds me of loud house and it just frustrates me ...
My takes: digital circus is the worst glitch show 4/10 Across the spiderverse is overated 6/10 Your names better then spirited away in any and every shape and form 11/10 Teen titans go is better then the orginal teen titans 8.5/10

Inside Out 2 for me.
Honorable Mention: Big City Greens should have been cancelled instead of Molly McGee, TGAMM deserved a third season(even if it wouldn’t win over audiences after “The End”) and Spacecation should have been that show’s finale
I love animation plus amphibia really brings good art.
10:37 U just aren't watching the right shows buddy. Go watch Morel Orel and Scavengers Reign. They'll change ur opinion on adult animation
Scavengers' reign is peak fiction
It may be recency bias, but I think the best animated movie of the year was Wallace and Gromit: Vengence Most Fowl. The climax is probably the funniest thing I've seen this year.
There are kids that are the same age as me and they watch stuff like Hazbin Hotel and liking it and it scares me. To think that a bunch of teens/kids who watch stuff like this seems to tell me about how the generation acts now these days because of adult shows like this.
6:41 Igh don't get me started
Nice to here your hot takes and yeah Illumination the later seasons of The Loud House get to much hate
No offense but am not the biggest fan of S1 & S2 they still had soke good episodes but others yeah am just happy that it creator got fire and I honestly prefer it later seasons
And Hot everything need to be serious and need to look like spider verse remember Wish got that look yeah it did not go well
And well I still watch shows I still been a fan for years like Amphibia, Moongirl and Devil Dinosaur, The Loud House, Regular Show, Owl House and serval other's and even shows that I was about to hate end up being good like Primos and Fairyodd Parents A New wish

I honestly disagree since I am someone who doesn’t mind if the movie is in 2D, 3D (or more commonly CGI), or any other kind of animation that isn’t live action since to me every animation style (if you want to call it that) has its pros and cons.
A.I cannot be able to replace animation workers in any way!
#StandWithAnimation
I want to see more storytellers make their stories a reality and I think they should be free to use AI to lower costs to be able to create what they otherwise could never afford. And I think consumers should be free to choose to watch these shows if they want to.
@@8isI mean it could be a useful tool for someone who's just getting started but million-billion dollar companies have no excuse
Here's my hot take (so grab your torches and pitchforks and get ready):
I really don't like Hazbin Hotel that much and most of Vivziepop's work in general.
So yeah, sorry, everyone.
based 🗿
I mostly agree but I do believe it’s occasionally pretty fun to watch. (Helluva Boss is way better than Hazbin Hotel. Fight me).
Thats a pretty cold take
I kinda agree with you there? But it still doesn't convinced me to watch more of Vivziepop's work again, honestly. idk, I'm very indifferent with her at the moment (no hate on the person, just most of her work). If you still like Helluva Boss, that's cool. I'm happy you do.
Pretty cold hot take, indeed. Sorry, friend.
9:17 oh no
Happy 2025 New Years😥🥺😔 By'
Marngel, Ramble,s Kid'z Animated Channel
Here’s a hot take: spider verse 2 is an amazing movie but not as good as the first one
Pretty sure that's a common take especially since the 2nd movie kinda needs the upcoming 3rd movie to really shine
i like to blend between 3d and 2d like spiderman into spider verse or puss in boots the last wish and the wild robot these animated movies are amazing i love these types because there animation types look beautiful i like 2d animated shows like the owl house or Amphibia and gravity falls and phineas and ferb and many more i like inde animation for example murder drones and the amazing digital circus and lackdiasy i like 3d animated like toy story and how to train dragon there lot animated movies and shows that i like and i also like lot live action movies as well like godzilla x kong and so on i mostly like stories something entertain and also going places and going on theme parks i love stories there creative and fun.
I would like some cartoons that are more positive and upbeat we don't need every cartoon to be dark
Bob’s Burgers has to be my favorite adult cartoon. It’s just such a cozy show that is relatable and fun!
🤨🤨
Bruh wait till the other comments respond to this.
there are good adult animations. Try Star Trek Lower Deks. If you're a Trek fan its great. If not I would be intersected in if it appeals to you.
Hot Take: The side of the fandom for both Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss who hates them are just downright toxic.
My hot take Amphibia is better Owl House.
Mainly for world building and writing is better in my opinion.
I think despicable me 4 is better then inside out 2
3:32 agreed
AI is different form animation
Hot take inside out 2 i s bad movie, it's not the worst thing on the planet but it's not great movie
Why not? Not attacking I’m just curious because I loved it
Dude if you are a adult then you can help me please please please please please please please i really nedd your help
My takes: digital circus is the worst glitch show 4/10
Across the spiderverse is overated 6/10
Your names better then spirited away in any and every shape and form 11/10
Teen titans go is better then the orginal teen titans 8.5/10
Hot take: If the indi animation scene keeps growing it will collapse in on itself.
Also, side note, will there be more Amphibia content in 2025?
