I used a cardboard template, and lots of measuring. 1/2 inch water pipes got a 3/4 inch diamond hole sale, and the 2 inch drain got a 2 1/4 diamond hole saw. the template was the real hero. transferred template holes to tile and the drilled holes were tight, centered and look outstanding. I didn't install the cover plates around pipes for months, the henpecking won over. she just would not appreciate the craftsmanship. Halleluyah
nice.
Thanks
You put the water in the blue cup so the hole saw is cooled the entire time. The double sided tape used is usually good for one hole
Do you not have to protect the copper pipe from the thinset, to prevent it from eventually corroding the pipe?
No you don't.
And does when you cut a hole in tile does it have to be a circle rather instead of a sqaure for shower knobs in bathroom?
What ever is easy for you. A square may be easy.
What is the name of the board use to hold the tile in place?
It is Durock board from USG. You can find it in Home Depot or Lowes.
@1:15, definitely a square. thanks for the video though. I learned a lot
Thank You.
how can you learn when his audio is so awful....
If you get real good at this. You can cut those circles holes from the backside of you piece. With a grinder.
Thanks for your input.
Good work however major flaw is you have not waterproofed your walls. So only barrier is tile and grout which in most cases will fail. You should of redgard the walls or similar products.
I used Laticrete Hydro ban for waterproof. The color is green as you can see if you look carefully in the video. I believe Laticrete Hydro ban is better than Red Guard.
Thank you for clarification.Much respect
why would he waterproof a wall ? its not a shower or tub its just the wall for the sink
Agreed
Ruben Sahakian is it necessary to waterproof the wall in a shower?
Nice and clean job,okay?
How he marks in tiles to cut the hole .
Look at the beginning of the video.
Is this for a pedestal sink i hope?
No it is for a bathroom vanity .
@@josephk9182 so why waste tile, time ,money and tool purchases, not to mention the aggravation on a place no one will ever see?
a
Because if you want to change the vanity to pedestal sink you can do it.
@@larrymbs because this is the professional way to do a bathroom not leaving big areas unfinished behind items.
Don't want to hurt your feelings but whoever was filming got great shots of your pants, the back of your hand, sometimes nothing at all, and why didn't you use a hole saw for the bigger pipe?
You need diamond 4" hole saw to ct porcelain tiles . This diamond hole saw will be very expensive.
@@josephk9182 i used to make the circular hole for the same size of the bigger pipe with my grinder only
To make it so much easier, i took the plumbing out fom behind. Put the tile on top of that cement board and trace it from behind. This is a dummy way and has a perfect fit but you have to know a liitle pblumbing to reconnect them back after set the tile back, ha!. Use the core bit tomake a perfect circle
nice,
Thanks
mazel tov!
where is your water proofing ??????
Haven't you heard of a rubi cutter it's like a step drill.
I don't hear half of what you are saying
your lucky I couldnt understand nothing
It is not good tha hole is maktha sarkgal
=6
What happened to the toilet hole?
Missed it by a lil...
Thinset party....

Not precise as I expected.
You will not see it because it is under the cabinet sink.
Instead of cutting the drain in a square patern he should of used a circular saw instead, it would of looks more professional.
Jose,
If you meant about diamond bit with this diameter it will cost you a lot of money. instead, I used grinder and make in purpose rectangle that I can covered it with a flange.
Thank for the comments.
It's hard enough to make out what you're saying but on top of that the volume is too low
Sorry about it.
I am European (British English). I understand him quite well. The volume is very good. If I have one suggestion it is the placement of the video
dood your audio is terrible.. cant understand nothing your saying!!!!
Sorry about it.
then learn English
@@Ghrainne You can turn on CC
Hole not in central position :D
The holes will be hide by chrome flanges.
Why cut a square hole for a round pipe and your method for miss alignment is piss poor amateur in fact, cut a other tile and do the job right.
First this is a real Italian porcelain tile, it is very difficult to cut and drill, in comparison with other porcelain tiles, second to cut a hole 4" diameter you will need a 4" diamond bit that is a very expensive, third this tile usually is not visible because it is behind a vanity. This is the way its look after the tile work done:

I cutt porcelain tiles often and like you I don't have a 4 inch cutting bit but it is possible to use an angle grinder or drill a one inch hole and carefully using parrot nibbles cut out to a scribed line. Takes a bit of time but the results speak for themselves. Tiling as you know is a patient's job that should not be over rushed. Especially when cutting and grouting.
You can always do it better I agree with you.
Joseph don't get me wrong I am not perfect myself but I do strive for it. I think you are braver than myself because you submit these videos and probably take a lot of crap from other people who could not do half as well as you. We all learn something every day and I am no exception.
