So how long does it run on a charge for? If it only operates when the car is in motion, does the recommended 5-7 day interval presume a 3 hr/day SoCal commute or a 15 minute Bainbridge Island commute?

You ask some great questions Bill. Based on my "testing" which is 2-30mins commutes daily, plus little trips here and there, I would assume that the battery life is roughly 7-10hrs at best. Your range may vary.
