Your time and background in Thailand served you well in appreciating their Buddhist religion. The knowledge you impart through this vlog are eyeopeners esp to most non-Chinese Filipinos. And it shames us too that we do not even know of these cultural treasures hiding in plain sight. Great job Mergim the traveller. You have a knack for storytelling.
In Taiwan, we also have very beautiful Buddhist temples. This temple in Binondo is also very beautiful. I didn't know Philippines can have such a beautiful temple. There is so much marble .... we usually do not use marbIe so much in Taiwanese temples. Anyway, I hope it can be maintained well. Thank you Chairman, for showing us another side of Manila that most people don't know about.
🇵🇭💖Wow Mergim, I've been to that Buddhist Temple for like three times but I never saw it like the way you describe it! You really are a Wizard with so much talent for showing the beauty of every place you visit!👍🤟
There are few Buddhist temples around Metro Manila. As a Filipino-Chinese, I visited 5-6 of them around Metro Manila - small and big temples but never gone really up to the top floor.
I was the one who chatted to you briefly near Mitsukoshi mall crossing the street. I did find my brekkie place-Kanto Freestyle BGC as I was craving Filipino food. If you're looking for authentic Filipino breakfast, this is where the locals and workers go. And their barako coffee is as strong as you'd expect. Btw, Mergim is better looking in person.
Nice and beautiful temple 👍 in binondo the old town in manila, keep up the good work 👍💯🙏💪 and keep safe and good health 💯💪💖 GOD BLESS US ALL 🙏💕🙏🍒❤️😍💖💯💪
There is also a Chinese Temple in San Fernando City, La Union called Ma-Cho Temple it's the first ever Taoist Temple in the Philippines and the biggest outside of China.
AH MERGHIM! THANK YOU, GOD BLESS YOU! THIS IS BEAUTIFUL, BRINGS TEARS TO MY EYES! I WENT TO A BUDDHIST TEMPLE BACK IN MY HIGH SCHOOL DAYS IT WAS THERE IN BINONDO BUT IT WAS DECADES AGO! IT WAS VERY DIFFERENT IN MY "CHURCH" EXPERIENCE GROWING UP & IT WAS AWESOME! I DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS THIS TEMPLE IN ITS FORMER STATE OR ELSEWHERE, BUT THIS IS DEFINITELY AN AWESOME PLACE! YOUR POST GAVE ME THE CHILLS, I FEEL SO HAPPY! YES, PHILIPPINES HAS HAD CHINESE INFLUENCE & CHINESE BLOOD IS IN THE FILIPINO BLOODLINE, MY OWN MOTHER SAID HER FAMILY HAS CHINESE BLOOD. OF COURSE THINNED OUT THROUGH THE GENERATION BUT SHE SAID IT WAS KNOWN FACT IN HER FAMILY, FROM HER ANCESTORS & BLOODLINE. AH! IN THE LATE 70s MY FAMILY WOULD GO TO BINONDO A LOT, WHEN AM ON VACATION HERE IN MANILA. AH! I APRECIATE THIS A LOT. THANK YOU MERGHIM. I FELT THE GOOD VIBES. AGAIN, THANK YOU. I HOPE SOMEDAY TO VISIT THIS TEMPLE YOU FEATURED.
I've been to this temple in the past and one of the reasons people don't know much about it is because you usually are not allowed to film or take photos inside. I guess the guard do be sleeping. 😅 good find! It's an incredible place.
Your exploration, discovery & inquisitiveness have virtually brought me to places I’ve never seen before. Your presentation, video production & narration make me feel like I am watching Indiana Jones (the movie).
These are serious vloggers, down to earth, not minding traveling around the busy city on a bike. Thank you for showing us places where an average Filipino won't even think of stepping into.
Wow! I have never discovered binondo like you have. Maybe because everytime we go there is for Chinese food. But thank you for sharing this with us, now I have another reason to visit binondo and look at it in a different perspective. Looking forward to getting in contact with my filchi (Filipino Chinese) friends and going around to visit these temples.
You're not a Filipino but what you're doing right now is more than us Filipinos, you shared & gave an information to the whole world what the Philippines really is, what is inside Manila or inside the Philippines in general. You deserve a second citizenship, a Filipino Citizenship in particular. Thanks for sharing why there is more fun here in the Philippines. Always stay safe while in our country, GOD bless you.
Hi, you know there's a huge Buddhist temple somewhere in Las Piñas even bigger and more intricately decorated along Coastal Road going to Cavite Province (CAVITEX Road). It's near PITX .
Another interesting temple to visit in Manila is the Jin Luan (Kim Luan) Temple in Adriatico Street, Malate. It is a Daoist Temple and sometimes they would do readings of the I Ching (Yi Jing). There is a "fortune teller" or divination practitioner/oracle who goes into a sort of trance, during which you can query him about your life issues, problems and ask advice regarding your "future" through an interpreter. He will write the answer on a table of sand in characters which the interpreter will explain them for you. But I don't know if they still do this there nowadays, or if the resident oracle is still there. Anyway, check it out if you have the time.
Now that is something that I didn't know about Binondo. Thanks for the photo-op with you last night. My daughter was all smiles when I posted her photo with you. I wanted to post our pics here but I don't know how to do it.😀
Just been there and I can say that I'm amaze with the temple itself. It's really magnificent and I was in an awe in each of the altars that I've prayed to.... I hope that my prayers will be granted.
I hope u go to Filinvest Riverpark, Alabang Town Center, Molito Alabang, Evia Daang Hari. Then Laguna comes next Enchanted Kingdom, Paseo De Sta.Rosa Nuvali, Acienda..
Wow this is incredible. My family (ancestral great grand parents) were from Binondo. My family only mentioned Binondo church but never this temple. I will make sure to visit when I make it back to the Philippines. Thanks for this! 😊
Try to visit Lake Caliraya in Cavinti, Laguna with your scooter and stay couple of nights in some resorts there. This lake is on top of a mountain and water flows to Pagsanjan Falls which is also famous for tourists who wants to experience shooting the rapids. But be sure to take a boat to a legit rental station or to the municipal tourism office of Pagsanjan town. Enjoy your travels in the Philippines. God Bless always Mergim !
Cebu City also has Buddhist, Taoist and even Sikh Temples, had a project where my team and I are doing research for Faith Tourism. We also explored the Mosques and Halal Food around Cebu City.
Well, the Binondo district is Manila's Chinatown so of course you'll find Chinese temples there! It's the place of worship for the Filipino-Chinese community where they can go pray and congregate!
Mergim, FYI, the first Ever recorded chinese that came to Manila was In 1861, he came from a village in the Chinese province of Fujian, sailed across South China Sea to start a new life in the Spanish colony of the Philippines. Thus, Settling in his adoptive home, his name was Co Yu Hwan he converted to Catholic, and he change his name to Jose Cojuangco. on what procedure, that I dont know...

Good afternoon 🇺🇸 Good morning 🇵🇭 Mergim❣️ 🌄 How do you compare the temple in Thailand to this beautiful intricate sculpture Buddha images. Thanks as always ❣️ Good Luck on your new abode❣️ Blessings come your way from the temple ❣️Budha🏛☘️🎋🇺🇸
My friend and i have been planning to visit the temple, it's just sad that we didn't make it during the Spring festival, but i don't think i can wait any longer, i'll go there this week, whether my friend join me or not.
You should visit the Pasig River part of Binondo & Intramuros- I heard they have almost completed the gentrification on both sides, let's see the results
I use to go their with mom when i was in highschool yo pray foe good grades 😄. Those golden plagues with pictures are like epitaph of the dead relatives. They leave it there so monks can always pray for them n its easier to visit them instead of the cemetary. Theres another temple in caloocan called a thousand buddha temple where the urn of the cremated love ones r placed in the walls of the temple, that way iys also easier to visit. And the ultra modern sanctuarium in sta mesa which is like a hotel for funerals and urns. 🙂
Mahayana Buddhism. Very different from the Theravada tradition in Thailand. The grouping where a central figure is flanked by bodhisattvas riding a tiger and an elephant, is a depiction of Manjushri (Wenshu in Chinese) the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, along with two of his prominent attendants, Samantabhadra (Universal Virtue) - Riding an elephant - and Vajrapani (bearer of the thunderbolt) - riding a tiger. The next three Buddhas are called the Trikaya: The Buddhas of the Three Jewels, namely Shakyamuni Buddha, Bhaisajyaguru Buddha, and Amitabha Buddha. The first one you saw as you entered (the one you lit incense to) was not a Buddha but a Buddhist saint known as Budai. He is the chubby one who is always depicted as laughing. The Buddha at 4:46 is Amitabha Buddha. He can be appealed to cleanse your bad karma. In Mahayana Buddhism, the different depictions of the Buddha represent different philosophical concepts within the Buddha nature. The Buddha depicted holding a tall pagoda tower in his left hand is Bhaisajyaguru, also known as the Medicine Buddha. If the tower is in the Left Hand, it represents a repository of the Dharma, symbolizing the healing teachings and the transformative power of wisdom. He is flanked by his two sunlight and moonlight attendants.
i love buddha. as a kid, i used to frequent Booksale (its a used bookstore; i think thats the name of the branch) and i purchased a book on Buddhism. The day that i read on the teachings of main man Siddhartha (teaching ideas like acceptance and letting go etc. etc. mind blowing stuff) was the same day i lost my brand new phone, snatched inside the bus. Thats when i had to practice what i learned. Also, i lost a book called SIDDHARTHA by Herman Hesse in the mens bathroom once and never finished it. then decades later a friend gifted me the same book only to lose it again left it in the train. i did finish the story and it was great! blew my mind. anyway happy friday. sharing is caring i guess. haha

Romblon here in the Philippines has a lot of marble, not sure if the marbles in this temple are locally sourced though..
Mergim -- When you find something you weren't looking for in the vlogs, it touches me deeply. Beauty is in everything. And so often we miss them.
The temple has a very small entrance but it is surprisingly very big inside. Beautiful inside. I didn't see any vlogger feature this temple.
🇵🇭💖Wow Mergim, I've been to that Buddhist Temple for like three times but I never saw it like the way you describe it! You really are a Wizard with so much talent for showing the beauty of every place you visit!👍🤟

This place should be promoted by Dept. of Tourism. Thanks a lot Mergim
