- We hiked this trail on October 15th, 2023. Check out the full vlog on our Kauai trip here: • Finally made it out of...
This is an 8 mile out-and-back trail along the Nāpali Coast in Kauai, Hawaii. It starts at Ke’e Beach in Hāʻena State Park and ends at the falls. To continue past the falls along the rest of the 11 mile long Kalalau Trail, you must have a camping permit. To hike to the falls, you must reserve your spot at least 30 days in advance. Would highly recommend taking the shuttle. The driver gave us great intel and history on the entire drive.
It was an amazing hike! Let us know if you go, or have already been!
Recently did this hike on March 5th. The water levels were at 3 feet on the usgs website, usually it is around 1-1.5 feet. The falls were very powerful with all of the fresh rainfall, and the last 2 crossings were above few inches above my belly button. We made it, but definitely needed to work with other hiking groups.
Wow!! That sounds insane!! Glad you made it there and back again through all that water!!!
I did this hike December 2010 when I was 50 years old. Didn't know what I was getting into. Climbed over rocks, trees, crossed the river many times. Afterwards, had mud in my toes for weeks, but it was worth it for the beauty, amazing views, and spectacular waterfall. Memory will stay with me for a lifetime. Thanks for the video.
Yes!! That is amazing!! Its truly an amazing hike and waterfall!! Thanks for sharing that story with us also!!
Will be doing this hike with my family in two weeks and I can’t wait
@@trajen7 heck yeah!! You won’t regret it!

Love love love! Would do it again in a heartbeat
Seriously same! It was awesome!!
Great video!
Thanks!! Glad you were there with us!!!
Love your video! How long did the hiking part take you in total? And what camera did you use?😊
Thanks! The entire hike took us about 6 hours (including walking through Ha’ena State Park from the bus stop, and a short break at the beach half-way point). We also spent about 1 hour at the waterfall swimming and hanging out. We used the Sony ZV-E1, with a couple of iPhone shots and the GoPro Hero 10 for the swimming parts!
I am planning to go there soon as well but I have one question. Do you need to make a reservation to take a shuttle bus or can you park your car in the parking lot and take a shuttle from there.
You do need to make a reservation for the shuttle bus. The bus stop is called the Waipa park and ride. It is on the west end of Hanalei at 5-5631 Kuhio Hwy. The shuttle will take you all the way to Haena State Park, where the hike begins.
@@kelleyandtyler thank you so much!
