This is my story about Tungnath Mahadev & Chandrashila Peak Trek, so in the month of February, although the temple is closed due to excessive snowfall in the chopta region, we decided to go and climb up the mighty white mountain to Chandrashila peak. I drove around 450 km from Chandigarh to Chopta on Activa, and had no scintilla of tiredness. Believe me or not, i haven't seen anything that beautiful in my life yet. It is indeed heaven on earth, if you want to experience real adventure and mountaineering do not miss Chandrashila peak in next winters. Tungnath Mahadev is one of the " panch kedar " dhams in Uttrakhand, India. It is known as the highest shiva temple in the world located in the mountain range of Rudraprayag district, Uttrakhand. It is located at an altitude of 3,470 meters (11,385 ft). Chandrashila Trek starts from chopta village which is also known as "Mini Switzerland" of India. Chandrashila literally means the "Moon Rock" which is an ultimate summit close to 3,690 meters (12,110 ft) above sea level. This peak provides views of the Himalayas, including Nandadevi, Trisul, Kedar Peak, Bandarpunch and Chaukhamba peaks. You would not want to blink your eyes once you reach the Chandrashila peak.

@@surajtopal9940 thank you bro, i went on 7th February 2021. No you need not take anything special for tungnath, everything is easily available. The trail is very easy now, there's hardly any snow till chandrashila. I'd suggest you as you won't find snow there, go in the month of May , the temple will open in may and you will be fortunate enough to have a darshan of tungnath ji. If you just want to see the beauty of this season, you are most welcome, you can go there. Chopta is packed with scenic views in any season.

Kindly brief about your stay in chopta.
Yea sure, as currently it is the off season. We found a room just at the place where the trek starts. It costed us around 800 for a night (we were 2 people) then the food is available everything from maggi to local dal, sabzi and roti. We paid 120/- for a thali which included a dal , a sabzi and chapatis (everything unlimited for a person) they don't say anything like unlimited it's just they are too cute to refuse if you ask them to refill, lol. They were really nice. In the season (may to nov) prices get increased. You can put down if you have any other queries, I'll be more than happy to help :)
@@SahilRamola I am planning for 12 April trip. Should I look for prebooking Or some cheap stay like yours will be readily available? I have heard April (spring) is good time so I am expecting crowd.
Im assuming you are planning a solo trip. You will get readily available rooms with both the options , we had no tv in our room. If you need some luxury of that sort, then the options are little less. If you just want a clean little room with a clean washroom, quilts. They will be readily available. April is not very much preferred by people because in May the temple will open, people usually wait for that. And also there are very less people who actually stay at chopta as people do a day hike to the chandrashila summit and then come down and move to nearby attractions like Deorital and many more. You need not worry about anything :)

@@SahilRamola also is it advisable to trek in early morning hours like from 3am to catch sunrise provided all 3 of us are kinda first timers? I am looking forward to catch sunrise at chandrashila bcs there is little to no snow in April mid. I have lot of doubts, thanks for helping me indeed. ☺
