Honestly good for Jay, Slipknot make some good music in the past but have just gone down the drain. The egos of the front men of this once great band have ruined the very thing they created. Jay deserves better than what Slipknot can currently offer.

I think part of the appeal lies in the mystery. They all get revealed at some point, but the speculation on who it could be is always exciting when a new unseen member and mask make their debut.
As tight lipped as Slipknot seems to be, whoever the hire, in my estimation, they'd have the new guy sign a N.D.A. until it was official. I could totally be wrong though. Who knows?

To be honest it has nothing to do with that. Drumming for a band in the music industry is a 'business'. It's like any other business where if an employee isn't working out, you get someone else. It has nothing to do with loyalty. People get all in their feels and have absolutely zero context of the situation. For all we know; something went down behind the scene's that they couldn't come back from. Or half the band wants to go a different direction with the music and the other half doesn't and some are more resistant than others. We only see what social media allows us to. Which, if social media is good for 'anything' it's giving an incredibly skewed view of a situation and leading people to believe shit that isn't true. Or to make them make their own 'conclusions' based on exactly zero evidence.

I'm not as much of a huge maggot as I once was, I feel this band has become more a franchise than the culture and movement they used to sell to us.
It’s very obvious to me that if you are a Slipknot drummer, don’t EVER have ANY kind of health issue. If it was legal, I could see them luring their drummer to a secluded area and putting the sick or injured drummer down. I had always envisioned Slipknot as being a “all members are equal” kind of band, but it’s very obvious just in the way they’ve treated drummers that this definitely is not the case. Who are the members with the controlling power? IF it was placed with the primary founder then in timeline order of member recruitment, today, Clown would be “king” but the reality is that controlling power always shifts to whomever has the most writing credits on their most successful songs. So say one member wrote 9/10 songs on two separate albums, but another member wrote only 1 song on each of their 2 albums, but those 2 songs were also the only songs to chart. The 2 song dude would have majority of the power. It’s only when bands ALWAYS credit the band as a whole as the “songwriter” that can create the scenario of all equal members.
When I look at album credits for any band, if the early releases credit the band, but then it gradually or suddenly shifts to having individual members credited for each individual song, this is an easy way to tell that internally, the band is fighting. As the songwriting credits become more and more detailed and specific (some might describe it as “Nitpicky”) It can be an omen that the band will be either breaking up, or at least that one or more key members will possibly be leaving to start either a solo project or to front a new band.
But in Slipknot’s case, if the drummer has any kind of medical issue (injured, has surgery, develops any kind of condition) you can count on them getting sacked not long after. And since we all saw how Joey was treated, despite being 1 of the 3 founding members, it reveals that he held little to no actual influence or creative control or even minute ownership of Slipknot. The way they unceremoniously cut ties and straight ghosted him, claimed he was let go for drugs, but never had any evidence or even tested him, and when the behaviors they had concluded was drug related turned out to be a fatal medical condition, they didn’t reach out to him, didn’t attempt to show or give any support (neither moral or financial), and they never issued a formal or personal apology even after the truth became known to not just the majority of Slipknot’s fans, but known to each individual member of Slipknot AND their managers, lawyers, crew, etc…. The only mention of Joey after announcing his removal from the band, as well as any official statement from the band saying anything good about Joey was after he passed. Cold and corporate if you ask me. The whole situation with Joey made it painfully obvious to me that Slipknot is first and foremost a Business, with each non-song credited members viewed and treated as expendable employees
Not defending clown or corey , but unfortunately after Joeys passing members of his numerous side projects did mention he had his demons. I assume they meant drug addiction since they were found in his system per the autopsy report. Also another unfortunate finding i recently found on my own research for something not having to do with this is that Transverse Myelitis which Joey suffered from when he was released can be a side affect of heroin use. I think how Joey was released was extremely shitty especially since supposedly they WERE a brotherhood in the "Knot" . I wonder sometimes if this situation would have been handled differently maybe he would still be here. But who knows , Pauls widow mentioned she had a intervention for him days before he passed and not 1 member showed up. So who knows what kind of relationships they have with each other in the band. but as more info comes out it does seem like a business similar to what KISS has become.... sorry for the Rant kinda went everywhere

More or less like any other band. As a teen I totally ate up interviews and all that crap but as I grew older and started doing jobs for different a&r departments at bigger record labels I realized fast it’s in essence ALL marketing BS. The more a (successful) band is hyping itself as ‚different, anti commercial, true, against the grain‘ the more it’s apparent it’s just marketing-talk. Hey, I’m not complaining but it amazes me kids with all the possibilities of social media etc still believe these stories.
I also theorized it was jays health, the timing was convenient and they’ve done it before, if that’s the case fuck them

That whole solidarity has vanished and did so before AHIG cycle was completed, the passion and authenticity of what was real and what was stood for when they were signed is merely a memory, anything after vol3 has no substance for the day1ers we’ve all been duped

I, along with many if not all other maggots, was heartbroken with Joey’s exit from the band, not to mention Paul’s passing. However, I stuck with the band since I love them and believe they deserved a second shot and an honest listen to their new material. Much to my surprise, I loved .5 and I was absolutely won over with Jay. This is just my opinion, but letting Jay go was a huge mistake that I think has alienated a lot of fans from which Slipknot (as well as many others) started - a band, not a business. I know signing a record deal is technically a business transaction, but you know what I mean so spare me the corrections. We’ll never get the full story I’m afraid, but I don’t think I’m alone when I say that Jay was a welcome addition to the band, seems like a sweetheart of a dude, and obviously an incredible drummer who was honored to go from fan to member of the band. I’m not throwing away my cds, but I honestly have lost all interest in this band. Furthermore, the cryptic shit with Craig was really weird; if it was a mutual agreement and understanding, fine, but let the fans know before they buy tickets to the next show.
I agree with your words. But, remember nothing is hidden. In time and with careful analysis we can start to use our intuition to reveal what is really happening. It just takes patience. A lot of these mainstream media people always say something that can lead to the obvious truth. They're just making it seem more complicated than it really is. All of them do. We all do, oddly enough.

Hopefully one day you guys will get answers. If not, just expect it in the future. Things can change but it's highly unlikely in this day and age.
You know with Max, his Dad being such a stand up kinda guy that Jay was brought up and taught correctly how to be a great drummer, and remember one's roots when fame and success come into the picture and not let that turn you into a butthole of a person. I know it can be tough for a group of individuals to be so close to each other all of the time. That's why it's probably best to be friends first whenever putting together a band. And always remember the fans.

It wasn't jist drumming Joey did. He wrote songs. He spoke for the band/gave interviews for the fans. He wrote music not related to percussion [lile main guitar riffs]. Sorry, Jay did not replace him. Not even close.
Eloy is better. Jay was a step down, but Eloy is several steps up.
Joey was the main songwriter of the band, even wrote a lot of the guitar parts along with his drumming. Not too surprised that since his departure they're lacking a bit. Solway firth is a recent fav of mine though.

I know it’s kinda corny to say but realistically once they lost Joey everything fell apart. He was the heartbeat of the band and the most unique and insane drummer I’ve ever seen both live and in the studio. Jay was incredible also but Joey is just in a league of his own and I really think losing him dealt a huge blow to their sound and uniqueness. Now they just sound like a metal band instead of metal band with a black metal drummer 😭
Growing up with slipknot as a kid I always saw them exactly as what they portrayed specially Corey. A sic twisted and cool af character that no one could mess with.. tough as nails. Now I realize perhaps this is true. It’s JUST a character and nothing else.. Corey is just the actor playing his role along with everyone else in the band… 🤷♂️

Hiring Jeramie Kling would be cool, mostly because he is a very good drummer and would bring more energy than any current member of Slipknot does. Thing is, they’ll fire him too.

No they didn't he had soo many side projects and the way slipknot tours 2 years all around the world heavy ontop of him being diagnosed with MS which he died from. For his own good they released him he chose to put more time into the side projects; murder dolls, scar the matyar, vimic and there were 2 others but I never listened to them 2. There was reasoning behind Joey. Jay I think was the dumbest thing ever on there part. Chris was on him. As for Paul he's spinning in his grave

I am 48 years old bought every Slipknot album the day. It came out watched them debut on conan O'Brien multiple times.
These are not the same people how many different family members will they screw over and put a mask on the new guy boycott These businessmen posing as a musicians.

Did you know that Paul's wife held an intervention for him a few days before he overdosed, and she invited every member of the Knot to it? None of them showed up. A few days later Paul died, and these motherfuckers have the audacity to have a press conference talking about the loss of their "brother".
I still enjoy their music. This isn’t really that uncommon, I’m sure if you look back on bands long before the internet there were similar issues that weren’t known to the general public. Look at The Beatles for instance.

Vman used to be our guitar tech before joining slipknot.
Not only was he a talented individual but he is also family. We were one of the first to know about him joining, and he even clued us in on recent changes. But Jay was blindside move to him as he found out when we all did.
When it comes to new positions in the band, he has no clue either and he isn't the type to lie.
So, I guess it may as well be the late Neil peart on the drums and it would be just as correct as any other guesses.

We’ll never know but given Jay’s IG posts I’d say that he was “likely” fired because of his recent medical issues. Rather that’s the reason or not I don’t know, but at this rate I’m not surprised by anything Corey and Shawn do.

Thats not to say he's not a killer drummer, because he certainly is! I just don't see him coming in because its going to be much more different creatively, musically.. Jay was probably the only other person who could step in and fill that roll after Joey was kicked so...done shitty! His and Jay's playing style was pretty similar and that definitely knocks Mike out of the running in my opinion. Honestly, I really don't know who could even come close!?
Lastly, as a fan, as a musician, drummer, slipknot is not who they were. I understand bands needing to evolve over time, i get it, but once you start to lose or just ax out members who helped write music, helped push the band further, the sound isn't the same! I absolutely hated how Joey got shitted on, he was who got me interested in them to begin with, Iowa was the album for me and from that point on i was hooked! So yeah, long time fan and support! However Corey and Shawn are not the same people, hell, they don't even like HALF of their fan base! So to me, slipknot is done for! They need to hang everything up and go out on a high note before they become a stain in the pages of metal history and in my opinion, they are definitely getting very close to that point as they begin to lose their supporters overall.
I'll throw in Matt Cameron. He drums for just about everyone else. 😅😅😅😅🤘🤘

this may sound crazy because it is BUT as much as i love Slipknot's music and have for over 20 years, i would be very cautious about signing on with them as a member (i've been playing drums since 1994) these days. i know that opportunity will never happen but that is absolutely besides the point.
also, i'm not skilled enough in metal to be in Slipknot, anyway. I'm more of a groove and jazz drummer like Jimmy from the Smashing Pumpkins. when it comes to double bass, i can't do much more than hardcore breakdowns.
I remember back when negative one came out, a lot of people were speculating the drummer was Chris Adler before we found out it was actually jay
After Tortilla Man joined the group and people began figuring out it was Michael Pfaff people in and close to Slipknot were denying it.

Evolution of bands happens.. I was honestly expecting some of the older members to cycle out before jay.. sucks but I have a feeling the last two OGs standing will be Shawn and Corey. With Jim or Rick being next to go unless sid and Corey have another falling out behind the scenes.

I’d love it if they were more transparent about lineup changes, leaving less room for speculation. No other band that I can think of catches quite as much shit as Slipknot does when a member leaves/gets kicked. I hate that Jay is no longer with the band but rather than get my panties in a twist, I’ll remain positive and see how things shake out.
I would bet my life that Slipknot have already hired a replacement for Jay before they fired him in the first place. As you mentioned they already have tour dates lined up which is a huge commitment for a band of their size. There's no possible way they're going to blindly search for the main drummer with only a couple months of preparation to get him settled in to perform a headlining high production stage show without a airtight replacement lined up and certified legitimately. It's not like replacements for Chris's or Craig's positions where they could get away with switching them out pretty much on the fly if needed. I have a strange feeling Jay possibly rubbed the higher ups the wrong way somehow ( meaning Shawn or Corey ) and they had planned on booting him for sometime, all the while lining up a new guy on the down low. I bet Craig possibly quietly watched all this stuff happening and decided it was a good opportunity to quietly get out of dodge himself. The whole business model with Shawn and Corey being the owner's and bosses creates division and drama for the other members.
We could save our attention for Newer acts that need it! Slipknots beat!
Since Corey and Clown wanted to blindside and fire my cousin I'll piss them off and let you know that Jeramie is indeed my cousin's replacement however it is temporary. Shawn's son Simon should be taking over around a year from now. I was told that it would have been sooner but I heard it had to do with Vended and cancellation fees. By the way, you should hear what they (Corey/Clown) say about their fans. Money hungry sellouts.
