No it wasnt it was an amazing step up compared to the 70s and 60s. The fact that they managed to drop the number of GP driver deaths from 11 in the 70s to 2 in the 80s is great work. Do you expect F1 to just have perfect safety since day 1 in 1950? Ofcourse not, it develops over time and some of the most important work was done in the 80s
There were 4 dead F1-drivers in the 80s: Patrick Depailler (1980), Gilles Villeneuve (1982), Riccardo Paletti (1982), Elio de Angelis (1986)..@@R9naldo

Son sonidos únicos, jamas volverán a sonar asi la F1 , y más ahora con tegnologia y hasta la categoría de hibridos, en fin , saludos desde ARGENTINA 🇦🇷🇦🇷
The nose cone design was different in those days, aside from maybe the March which did have a one piece nose. On the Ferrari (similar to that year’s McLaren), the nose consisted of two sections. Above was a separate section comprising the wing and the red bodywork panel which extended back over the anti rolls bars. There was a separate carbon fibre box underneath this
Good observation! And the steering column didn't break. So why do people insist that cockpit view of Senna's accident proves that it did break in that case?
My sentiments exactly. Just quarantine the paddock there this summer and run the entire 2020 season on the old track to make up for the 18 or so years we've missed her.
Funny how he steps out of the car and looks at it like 🤔

I miss the real Hockenheim.
If something like this happened today they would cancel the whole season
They didn't even recover the cars back then. Like, if you die, you die.
Amazing how safety was just so bad these days.

I like the sound of those old engines... V8, V10, V12 in high and low revs.

Very strange (and unsafe) the front Anti-Roll bar is actually mounted inside the nose cone!

1:12 that cockpit view looked scary, the wheels didn't turn with the wheel.

He had a rear tyre failure that caused the front wheel on one side to lift off the ground. This is what caused the crash.
The front wheels turned exactly as expected. Not sure what you're on about

Sadly there is no track anymore, they need to rebuild it
nur der HSV A travesty. I looked forward to Hockenheim every year.
I wonder if Berger thought "Omg, Imola all over again."
"Weird season this one, eh?"
Berger was really unlucky during the 1989 season.
