My initial reactions. High quality WiFi a must. It works decently as a PTP w2ifi connection but once you switch the WiFi to your home 24 GhZ network....that network signal needs to be very strong! Slower the train moves absolutely the better the quality of video as the camera will be quite blurry on faster speed. Camera is constantly trying to focus...straightaways are best. Circular runs drive the camera crazy trying to focus. Many editing software apps just will not work with the exported video. What I find best is to simply run the recorded video and re-record it using the record function on the iPhone or iPad. It is recording screen play but you cannot tell the difference in the recorded version to the original AND that version will work with any editing software as well as be able to send to friends. All in all...I would have easily paid $100 more for this car if it had a better camera and updated directions and electronics. It works....but it is just not that compelling. Needs "modernized" badly.
Unfortunately, the video from the cupola camera isn’t compatible with my editing software, FinalCutProX. So I had to shoot everything else on my iPad mini, which I also use to operate and record the cupola camera. Then I couldn’t edit. The frames per second speed of the cupola camera is lower than the minimum FPS that FCPX can handle. Lionel engineers are looking at FCPX to see if they can suggest settings that would make it work with cupola camera video. Thanks for watching and commenting! Owen
