Just finished this, it was a good show, ending was wild lol
I agree 100%
I'm excited to see the lighthearted 'Unfrosted', and can't wait for the new scifi series on Apple TV+ 'Dark Matter'!
It feels off for a reason. The storyline was refitted from the book, which takes place in Atlanta and California (Connie's origin) in the late 90s. The book contains layers of character insights that a 6 episode miniseries could not capture. Tom Wolfe wrote the book of the same name, buy it and read it.
The Sympathizer on HBO has been really good so far
Loving the shit out of it
Just didn’t get why he was so obligated to bail the guy out whole show. ESPECIALLY when the couple never even said thank you, but did nothing but complain. What did she have on him?
exactly. That entire storline felt jammed into the story for "Woke" folk. She never once said " thank you" to Charlie. How were the writers so tone def on that?
@@69gvfb They were probably obliged to add that story in.
If not for that then it would be a story focusing on and featuring nothing but the dreaded 'White man"
@69gvfb you guys crying woke all the time are the snowflakes ironically. The Conrad storyline was in the book that it's based on, so it wasn't added in for the "woke" crowd. They probably should have taken it out as not to offend the anti-woke cry babies.
I just finished binging Shardlake, and it was incredible!
The series was good, but the ending didn't feel like an ending. They needed a second season after that. And they also needed a season before that, because there a lot of talk about the releation between Peep and Crocker, and between the Mayor and the Lawyer, but don't see any of that. Maybe that's why the series felt empty at the end: we know the character are deep, but we didn't get to see any of it. 6 episodes was too little.
i loveeeeddddd Jeff Daniels in this show. they should have a prequel. why did the scumbag Peepgrass had a personal vendetta with Charlie ???
100% agree with this take. Great actors but felt empty and hollow at times. Would have been great as a 4-5 season show.
Brilliant illustration that character is worth fighting and dying for. He protected his son from the world both spiritually and financially from the backstabbers. It's a shame that most folks will never have character.
There’s so much content out there now! I think I am going to switch off my phone for a while and hide under a rock…
The Sympathizer has been really good 3 episodes in, RDJ kills it
Seconded
A Man In First!
Must watch this, currently working through American Rust. Love me some Daniels!
gonna check it out bro
I loved the novel, I hope the series lives up to it. Modern day Dickensian storytelling was Tom Wolfe’s hallmark.
Listen to Jeff Daniels talk about this..couple more months to start my netflix binge
Review the Brigands. I like to see your take on it
All the way from South Africa, You explained this well buddy.
I just hate the ending!
The best scene when charlie was giving a speech and looked at his son, that was a Man moment
I give it 4/5. Love the acting. Story had a good pace to it. No good guy/bad guy. Just each character living through their struggles in their own way.
My favourite line from the show. This is a cactus meeting.... The pricks are on the outside 😂
That was such a wonderful line! And the way Bill Camp delivered it was flawless!
@@MoviesAndMunchies yes that line was delivered so perfectly. I felt like it was an insight into the that type of super wealthy lifestyle.
Really difficult yo nring yhishreat book to screen. It changed my life . Stoicism is a good philosophy to live by.
I loved the series!
Cool
You could tell A Man in Full was a novel based upon the dialog and the coherent theme. Yes, all the stories are about how3 much better life is when you live your life with vigor and doing things your way, even when it can cost you. Conrad is not exactly noble, so I disagree. He punched out a cop over what was a minor traffic thing. Conrad basically admits his way is fading as modern people do not care for his living his life his way and screw everyone else, even if his enemies admit they do admire it at times.
The performances were good though, and it was not boring. The ending was quite a surprise. But it was not perfect. I think Conrad's plot was just removed from Kroker's so it was like two separate stories completely. except for each following that esoteric theme. But it did not impact the main plot at all. And they really needed to do more with the Concourse Building and how important it was to Kroker. Because it really played a big part later in the story. I agree it was like a 3/5
I don’t know if it’s meant to be but the show is pretty funny to me
I love Jeff Daniels and American Rust S2 is good. This however is bad. I only do 2.5 episodes and couldn't continue anymore
Big red dog.
Not really that good. There's a bunch of insignificant stories that are woven in to the main plot. They really have no need or affect the outcome. It's 5 1/2 episodes of misery, One shining moment of victory followed by some Greek Roman tragic ending. Could have been much better. The best thing about it was Jeff Daniels performance which was weird because it was such a horrible story.
1 season :-O HOW? How can such shitty shows last season after season...and an amazing show like this only get one season. This world is cruel
No. I love Jeff Daniels, but No. Diane Lane was the only one I liked at all. But, did we need this movie? No.
Cheap Netflix stuff plus the mandatory black lives matter education
He’s right. Find something else to do with your life. Don’t waste it watching this crap.
Thx! I’m sick of wasting my time. I just watched godless from 2017 and almost fell into watching this because Jeff Daniels is in it.
I liked it. Didn't are a lot about the Conrad issue or the harsh Southern accent it's so annoying. Was the Conrad thing thrown in to scare people not to cry over spilled milk and then end up in prison. And to writers of the world STOP using GOD as a curse word!!
Only watched two episodes and think the southern accent is horrible and him and the bank characters are so over the top. Seems hacky to me
I’m from the south and his accent sounds like a lot of people around here so I don’t know what you’re talking about. The series was really good.
@@bigmona2741 he sounded like a generic Frank Underwood
Nothing wrong with the accent. You just aren't used to hearing it from Daniels.
@@johngray6675 it's so cartoony
This was awful. It has very, very little to do with the novel other than a skeletal whiteboard outline. It's like comparing a pack of ramen to a 12 course gourmet French meal. Half of the book is not there. Conrad Hensley was white & there was none of this BLM nonsense. It can't be pulled off. It's like turning War & Peace into an 8 hour miniseries.
I skipped all of the BLM scenes and was able to perfectly follow the main story. Completely worthless show in the end
Conrad was emotional and incapable of self control.
His entire role was cautionary.
I hope the fact that his charges were dropped, doesnt encourage people to behave like he did.
You can only combat injustice with exceptional behavior.
This was a bad movie.
Oh FFS get over yourself.
Yes yes..ok. That's ONE thing to take out of this show. That and the fact you call it a movie is rather telling of your perception and awareness of this series.
@@out_spocken oh ssht. I typed “movie???”
“Movie…Series…. Cartoon…. Film….. Cinema….Show….Play….. After school special” it sucked
Its a badly made show.
Your criticism of "why would we care" etc is disingenuous. The fact that this story is based on a novel by Tom Wolfe should be enough to signal for you the fact that this is a tilt at telling a grand story of America. It is at once a morality play and a great drama as well as being a story that comes to grips with the paradox at the heart of the American dream. On this count as a review I think you have missed the mark
So far I'm watching another race baiting monologue and it's a yawning bore.
The show was good apart from the storyline with the secretary and her husband. That story felt forced into this series and didn't take well with me. It feels there for all of the "woke" folk.
This movie was shit
