    As I've come to expect, another well made, enjoyable video. I totally agree with some of the other viewers who have commented - the narration and commentary make each video its own small story (not to mention that you also do a great job of production/editing). I also appreciate that in all of your vids you give the viewer CONTEXT. You always make clear how much cash or free play was risked in each session and the profit or loss. There's a beginning and an end. The information you provide allows me to compare/contrast my own experiences playing the various VP versions and make adjustments in my own game and bankroll management. I'm fairly sure the year was 1980 when I played my first VP machine at the old Frontier Casino on the Strip. I was just passing through Nevada with a good buddy on an epic road trip to the west coast. We stayed a couple nights in Las Vegas and played a few slots, discovered video poker, learned to play blackjack (correctly) from a dealer at a downtown casino called "The Friendly Club" and had a great time. And I have been hooked on VP and Las Vegas ever since. Keep up the good work, John. I look forward to watching more of your productions.

      Thank you, Scott, and you had so many nice things to say! I appreciate all your kind words. Wow….you got your start in Video Poker in 1980! And that’s a great story too! I, to my dismay, missed the Golden Age of video poker.🥲 You lived it! What an interesting conversation you and I would have about video poker. I never set foot into a casino until I was 39 years old, and I didn’t even touch a video poker machine for another 13 years afterwards. I missed out on so much of it. Go figure! How could I have ever known that I would end up being a video poker player, of all things!😂 My older brother (a craps player) who lived in Vegas his entire adult life, could never coax me up there (I was a broke college student in Army ROTC). He even called me out of the blue back in 1981 and said, “Quick turn on the TV, the MGM (now Bally’s) is on fire! Hop on a bus and get up here!” But I had zero money or time back then. It’s one of my regrets, not having spent time in Vegas with my brother when I had the chance. However, I am hell-bent on making up for lost time. I intend to keep doing this for another 10 years (at least) and hit every casino in America!😝 Thank you for everything you said about my channel. Hopefully, one day, we’ll have that long conversation on video poker!😁🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

      @@johnsworldofvideopoker Sounds like a plan. I live in Oklahoma. Video poker is not too popular here - even in some of the larger casinos they have only a limited number of VP machines. The real exception to that is Choctaw Casino in Durant, OK. Easily the finest casino in the state and its huge. It is basically on par with some of the nicer casinos in Vegas. Choctaw has a large selection of VP in one main area and then smaller banks of VP machines throughout the rest of the casino. They have allowed RUclipsrs to video there in the past. It's a fun place and its hopping all the time. Several great places to dine as well. So if you ever make it here to Oklahoma, Choctaw is truly the only destination for a VP player. Hope you make it to Oklahoma someday and maybe we will meet and get a chance to exchange gambling stories.

    Only one misplay seen at 16:15, have to go for an inside straight since it pays 2 for 1. On the other gut straight deals, Skip did go for the inside straight properly. Otherwise, Skip is a very skilled player overall plays with a tempo better than most players I've seen. Thanks for sharing! For Deuces Wild, I get excited whenever 2 or more Deuces are dealt (Quad Deuces are dealt once every few years 1 in about 54000 rounds). John, I spotted your friend (Skip) in action on Father's Day morning. He was pounding away on high limit NSUD wearing headphones and had a small table next to him for his phone. I walked by him twice in attempt to introduce myself, but both times he was very focused on the task at hand. Also, my predisposition is to keep a low profile. He may have noticed me, I was wearing a black Rampart casino fleece. I was playing on a bank with the three full pay machines ($1 & $2 demon) just outside the high limit area. Anyway, my trip was kinda of bust as one property downgraded the 9/6 JoB and the second property now requires $25 coin-in to earn a point on all the full pay games. Take care, Mark

He’s a very approachable, laid-back, and very cordial. He would have liked getting to know you. He plays with me all the time down here at Pala & Pechanga. Plus, he & I scouted-out Yaamava’ & liked what we saw. He told me about the $25 Coin-in. An Eldorado/Caesars move! I don’t know why Caesars doesn’t just “punch” their customers in the face when they come through the doors with all their cut-backs. I appreciate the update. Great video John. I think I will dedicate some of my bankroll to deuces next month when I go to Vegas. I used to play deuces quite a bit, but I have gotten away from it for a while since I've been killing it on bonus poker.

    • @johnsworldofvideopoker
      @johnsworldofvideopoker  2 года назад

      Skip, is a great player, and I learned a lot watching him play NSUD Deuces Wild. In the few sessions that we played together, I got a good sense on the feel and the flow of the game. The pay back of 99.73% is appealing, and it’s relatively low volatility makes it a relatively stable game to play. (Suitable for grinding). The hit frequency on 4 Deuces is 1 out of 5,355, and not far off from the hit frequency of 4 Aces on Bonus Poker, which is 1 out of 5,106. However, I don’t see it as a game that “replaces” 8/5 Bonus Poker as a “go to” game. I see Deuces Wild as a replacement for 9/6 JoB. To really score big in video poker, the player not only needs to “manage” the coin denominations, but also has to manage the “game mix”. I hop up & down the coin denominations in an effort to conserve bankroll while at the same time putting myself in a position to be on the highest denomination possible when a Royal Flush comes my way. But the player also has to have a game-mix strategy too to come up with big wins. By that I mean, a player should have 3-4 different low volatility games under their belt (to bounce around on) during a session so that if 8/5 Bonus Poker starts “running cold”, they can “retreat” to another game like 9/6 JoB, NSUD Deuces Wild, or 9/7 BPD, (all during the same session) in order to sustain their bankroll and to keep it alive. Chances are while one game is “running cold", one of the other games may be “running hot”. So being able to play 3-4 games exceptionally well during a cold session on 8/5 BP could come in handy to preserve the bankroll and save the session. So by all means, NSUD Deuces Wild is an excellent game for the player to have in their “quiver” (repertoire) as Skip says. But I still believe that 8/5 Bonus Poker should still remain your “bread & butter” “go to” game (surrounded & shielded by) 9/6 JoB, NSUD Deuces Wild, and 9/7 BBD. Congratulations, on “making money” on 8/5 BP. Keep up the great work!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

    Deuces Wild was my passion back in the 90s. Then Deuces Bonus arrived. Like I have said before, DWB is my go to most times when DDB is losing $$. Years ago there were several banks of DW at the Fiesta. They were crazy good. Would hit 4 Deuces a few times on the same machine and royals. With time, the paytables changed lowering payouts for most hands. When deuces dry up and blow away I change machines. I hit Deuces with the kicker frequently. But here is my rub, I hold 2 deuces and a pair= 4 of a kind then another deuce comes out. Makes me think I got burned. And same for Wild Royals vs Natural Royals. My husband (RIP) never held the deuce with royal combos. He hit more royals that way. Fun game. Try them both John.

      @@johnsworldofvideopoker Regular poker games have pretty much a one way to play strategy. I find with deuces, it will put you on the fence many times. I learned to play deuces many years ago from Bob Dancer in person at his seminars. However, there are those times....correct hold vs chasing. I am not in your denom caliber. Although over time, it adds up. For example, say you had 3 deuces plus 2 cards making a wild royal. Keep or dump? It pays $125 keeping and only 20 for 4/k. Big loss to gamble. Hubby would never hold the Wild Royal in that instance. Many times it would come back a St Flush and many times the 4th deuce. Never know. In Deuces Bonus, given the same scenario if I have an ace+3 deuces I dump the other card for the Wild Royal. Many times it comes back as a Wild Royal or 5/k. Can't wait for you to study and play this game.

      That goes to show you just how unfamiliar I am with the game, I thought for sure you would hold the 3 Deuces and let everything else go. Yes at the lower coin denominations the casinos “punish” the players with poorer paying pay tables. Thankfully, Red Rock, South Point, and other local’s casinos in Vegas still offer great pay tables, as well as, some California casinos do (Pechanga & Pala). Since I tend to play the higher denominations, I’ve been fortunate enough to have the better pay tables, that should be available at all coin denominations in every casino. Hi Chuck,
      After sitting with, Skip, and watching him play NSUD Deuces Wild over a period of a few days, I kinda got the “feel” and the rhythm of the game. I think it’s worth learning and I see value in it. There’s lots of players out there, and they all have their “go to” game. I don’t know any Deuces Wild players, so I was thrilled to find that, Skip, is “Deuces Wild” through and through, so I really enjoyed having a front row seat to observe a bona fide DW player handle their game. I have other friends who have DDB or TDB as their “go to” games and it’s fun to watch someone “who knows their game” play it. Now, 8/5 Bonus Poker will always be my “go to” game, but there is value in the other games too. This year I’d like to finally broaden my horizons in video poker and at least become proficient in NSUD Deuces Wild, DDB, TDB, and perhaps a few other games. Thank you for your comments!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

      The Deuces Wild Bonus game wasn’t a choice on the main screen at the denominations that we play on. Also, the Deuces Bonus game has a higher variance (more feast or famine swings) than does NSUD Deuces Wild. However, your Deuces Bonus pay table is a very interesting one to me, and I will undertake learning that game since you pointed it out to me and I see the value in it, under the right circumstances. If you ever see me in Pechanga, flag me down, and perhaps you could show me the “ropes” on learning that game. Thank you, Angela, for your comments and for your viewership of my channel.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

    John, This was a wonderful edition by featuring Skip. He looks very familiar to a player at a casino located on South Grove Ave🙂 Skip's story is similar to a friend of mine from Des Plaines, who also studied under Bob Dancer. Deuces Wild is an acquired taste, but an excellent game! NSDU vs. 8/5 BP the additional .54% edge can be as big as the Grand Canyon. For every million coin-in a player is giving up additional $5,400. Just something to think about. I can't wait to hear more from Skip. John, what were a few takeaways you learned from Skip? Thanks, your friend Mark

      Thank you, Mark. Is NSUD your “go to” game? I’ve always wanted to learn the game, but I really wanted to have a solid player show me the ropes so I could get a feel for the flow of the game. I’m going to put in a lot of practice and then try it out on the lower coin denominations, once I’m up to speed. If it grows on me, then I wouldn’t mind that extra 0.54% edge when I’m playing at the higher denominations. Skip is an incredible player, manages his bankroll and sessions supremely well, and I look forward to playing again with him here and in Vegas! Thank you, Mark, for pointing out and clarifying that edge. It gives one pause.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

      @@johnsworldofvideopoker If the casino offers it, then yes it's my "go to" game. I learned the complete strategy by breaking it down by the number of deuces dealt and a lot of time on Video Poker for Winners. That casino on South Grove Ave offers a good selection of NSUD; however, this property does not have a hotel (they will comp for a hotel near by). Also, for me personally I get much better offers from a sister property in the same market. This particular property does not offer NSUD, but does offer other good games at the $1, $2, and $5 demon. Overall, I get a better value by playing games with a higher edge, than NSUD. I just wish the sister property offered this game. True story: Bob Dancer was in Chicago many years ago and found a $5 demon (or $10 demon?) NSUD progressive at over 70K at the Majestic Star in Gary. Anyway, after playing this game over the course of a few days he hit the royal.

      I missed your last question at the end there, Mark! My takeaways that I learned from playing NSUD DW with Skip is (first of all) to properly identify the pay table (since there are so many versions of DW), I learned that the payout percentage is better than my 8/5 BP (99.17%) vs. DW (99.73%). That the variance is not as good as 8/5 BP (20.90), but it isn’t too far off (25.78 on DW), but it is a lot better than the variance on DDB (41.98). I also noticed there’s a lot of hands that come and go (without selecting any cards) because nothing can be made of them, and that if you’re NOT seeing many Deuces coming out, you’re probably in for an uneventful session. I noticed more full houses, straights and flushes, are made because of the Deuces. All in all, it’s a relatively stable game and one that’s worth learning. I’m certain that one day, in some high limit casino salon somewhere, it won’t be going well for me on a BP session, and I’ll switch to NSUD DW, hit something good (or great) and it will save the day for me. This group of sessions with Skip was a gold mine. I think I just planted a seed that will one day bear fruit and bring me a harvest on another day in the future, just when I need it most!💎💎💎🌎

      Red Rock is the Video Poker Capital of the World. But it also depends on what your goals are too? If making money is your goal, then the 2 games that you’ll want to focus on are 8/5 Bonus Poker or 9/6 JoB. If your interest in video poker is purely recreational, then play all the other games as well. Whatever game you choose, it’s important to be well practiced on a simulator that “warns on mistakes” so that, over time, you can minimize your errors in order to achieve a better return for your gambling dollar. If you’re a lower coin denomination player (25¢, 50¢, or $1) you’ll find more of those games (with a good pay table) at South Point. If you want to venture into the higher coin denominations then, Red Rock, is the way to go. If you’re a video poker player and have never been to Red Rock (at least once), then you’ve never been to Vegas. I recommend that you go there to check it off your video poker list. Happy Royal Hunting at Red Rock!😉🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

    Hello John how’s it going in Vegas?
    I just got home from Lake Tahoe went to see a band called “Cream” they were a 60’s era band, they were excellent. In the mean time I played a lot of video poker at Harrah’s and Harvey’s, I hit two Royal’s both at Harrah’s on the same bank of machines, one on Monday and one today, Tuesday. I hit one progressive playing DDB and one on Bonus, that was pretty amazing. Feels good to win! Hope you’re winning too.

    • @johnsworldofvideopoker
      @johnsworldofvideopoker  2 года назад

      Incedible you mention “Cream”. I’m a guitar player and Eric Clapton when he was with Cream are the very solos that I learned note for note. While driving to Vegas, I listened to the Cream albums and also listened to lead guitar solo tutorials from the early albums! I’m glad to hear you did so well. I took $2,000 off of Caesars Palace, hitting 4 Aces on a $5 coin machine. I hung out with Slotmassacre & Bigkats at El Cortez, Circa, the California, and Red Rock. I recycled my $2,000 win at Caesars going for the $20,000 Royal there, but forfeited it all back. When I win $2,000-$4,000 in Vegas, I consider it “free play” money to beat the house with. If I toss it all back in over 2-3 hours of play (as I did in this case) those were all “free shots” at the $8,000 & $20,000 Royals (about 2,400-3,000 hands worth). If it all goes back in, that’s ok. It’s a free weekend in Vegas with full RFB. And I get to hang out with my buddies in Vegas! I’m halfway 2/3’s of the way to Texas right now. Will hit WinStar & Choctaw, Durant casinos tomorrow. Thanks for the update. Keep knockin’ dead!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

There are 100.76% games in Vegas on Deuces Wild but not at high denominations. You’ll only find them at the 25¢ coin denomination. Nonetheless, 8/5 BP & 9/6 JoB are the best bets in a casino, if making money is your goal. And those games are plentiful at all denominations in SoCal & in Vegas at ALL denominations.😁🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

    i dont understand, how does lowering your bet when your in bad shape increase win rate when its 10000000000000000000%percent random?
    now u would close out a winner if you could always x2 your bet from a previous loss and if there was no cheating!

      It’s the “randomness” of the game that makes hitting every hand on the pay table, not only possible, but “probable”. Understanding the probabilities of the pay table, managing your bankroll, and your “risk tolerance” at higher denominations determines your success or failure with the games. Random “luck” is a factor also in the game. Manage your game and bankroll effectively enough and “random luck” will become your friend.

      Hi Todd, I’ll be in Vegas on Sunday and Monday with the crew. It’s probably a tight schedule though. If you’re in Vegas on Sunday, I’ll be up there rather early, but I won’t be able to make it out to Laughlin this time around. So if you’re in Vegas please reach out to me.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

      When I get a chance, I’ll eventually review the video, but I’m already on to the making of the next video. However, in the future, if you provide a time stamp of the hand in question, it shows-up in blue type here in the comments. Then all I have to do is just click on the time stamp and it takes me directly to that specific hand in the video. Thank you for commenting and your viewership.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

      I'm the first to admit that I'm no expert, and the good thing is, that you don't have to be in order to make some money from video poker. And, yes, luck is also a part of the game. Practicing the basics goes a long way towards hitting Royals. What I call, "Sloppy Imperfect Play" is "good enough" to score big wins occasionally, and that can make a big difference in a player's overall outcome with the game.

      @@johnsworldofvideopoker you make good content. But your reasoning is flawed.

    • @johnsworldofvideopoker
      @johnsworldofvideopoker  7 месяцев назад

      @djsnit My approach to the game is not completely thought out or refined just yet, and I think you are correct in that, there is no strategy that will prevail against the house edge long term. But I do believe that, in the short term, anything can happen due to the “randomness” built into the game itself. The more frequently hitting hands that occur lower in the pay table (than the Royal Flush) when scored on the highest denominations, are wins that can then be used as, house money, to be played on slightly lower high coin denominations ($10, $20, $25, coin denominations) to great effect (hitting Quad Aces, 2’s, 3’s, & 4’s, regular Quads, or Bonus Quads played on other game varieties. That is my quest, and with even just a few more big wins, I’ll scale back down to the level of purely recreational play, and shift my focus on to other creative pursuits such as writing, composing music, or short films.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

    Sorry don’t like deuces wild😱

    • @johnsworldofvideopoker

      Since my mainstay is 8/5 Bonus Poker, it’ll always be my “go to” game for many reasons: It is easy to learn and master, it has low volatility (which allows for bankroll preservation & longevity), it has Bonus Quads (2,3,4’s & Aces), the player “makes money” on the 2 pair hand, and it has already made me a small fortune. I liken the family of video poker games available to all the Romance languages of Europe. They’ve all different versions (expressions) of the same mother tongue (Latin). Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, French, and Romanian are all very similar to each other, and if you know one, you can easily learn them all. I have never really understood or played Deuces Wild. I don’t personally know anyone who’s “conversant” in that language. Skip is a dyed-the-wool, NSUD Deuces Wild Player, and for once in my video playing life, I found in him, someone who really knows the game well, has mastered it, and is great at teaching it. NSUD Deuces Wild has a high percentage pay back (99.73%), is relatively low in volatility (though not as low as 9/6 JoB or 8/5 BP), and can be easily learned if the player spends time with someone who really knows the game backwards and forwards and then also practices on a simulator that warns on mistakes. There are a lot of great Deuces Wild players out there, and as one viewer pointed out to me, “it is an acquired taste”. I see a lot of value in the game, and at some point in the future, it will serve me well (in some high limit casino salon), when things might not be going well in an 8/5 BP session, and Deuces Wild comes in to save the day. But I get it, it is a different game, with it’s own rhythm and feel, and until one gets shown how to play it effectively, it can be a little mystifying. I have Part 2 of NSUD DW with Skip to go, and then I’ll be back to Bonus Poker. I’m also going to be highlighting the other games in the future as well: BPD, DDB, TDB, and get into some of the Super Bonus with Aces games. I appreciate your patience in the meantime. Skip is an incredible player, and just the nicest person anyone would ever want to meet. He cracked John’s World open and introduced me to a very worthy video poker game!😁🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

      I’ll be stepping into “your world” of DDB in the near future!😂 I just wanted to get things going with the channel first before I branched out into lesser known territory for me. All the games have their own appeal and DDB is certainly a fun and wonderful game in its own right. I originally started out on DDB and have had many exhilarating sessions on it. I’m due to re-visit that game as well.😁🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

    You don't hold two pair in dueces wild. Pick one pair and go with it. The idea is not a full house. You want quads and 5oak.

    • @johnsworldofvideopoker
      @johnsworldofvideopoker  2 года назад

      I don’t play Deuces Wild. I’m almost strictly an 8/5 Bonus Poker player. If I feature Deuces Wild, it’s somebody else that is playing. The only 2 games that I recommend are 9/6 JoB & 8/5 BP. I don’t mind mixing-in a little 9/7 DB, 9/6 BPD, or 9/6 DDB (on occasion), but for very very short visits; and then, only when “up” using House money won from 9/6 JoB or 8/5 BP. As soon as the “House money edge” is gone, I recommend going immediately back to 9/6 JoB or 8/5 BP. Not getting paid 10 coins for the 2-pair hand is very costly to the player.🌎
