TchaiPDD is always a fave. The music and the choreography are so perfectly matched that it's exhilarating from start to finish. Thanks for streaming this for us. Loved it.

Wow! I’m a fan of the Bouder version, but Teresa Reichlan really brings a “floating” quality to the piece. I really love how these highly skilled ballerinas make the choreography their own.

I remember the Traceys, Kathleen and Margaret. Kathleen lived in my building in Lincoln Square. Margaret was a principal but left the company for the Boston Ballet. Jonathan Stafford is now one of the heads of the company, but was then a ballet master. Impressive how they are able to spot small imperfections - they really know this important Balanchine ballet, much exported to foreign companies - Russia, Royal Ballet.

For those saying it looks heavy and inelegant, please remember that this is still rehearsal.
Thank you Kennedy Center for uploading live rehearsals - they're so fun to watch!

heavy and inelegant? why don’t you go give it a try? This is amazing, I always enjoy the rehearsal more with no makeup costume, just focusing on the movements. This is so good.

watching this makes me think of the stories I read about the dancers trashing a room in DC and the trouble brought on by the male dancers while here..THEN SEEING CHASE in the background, knowing this is when they were ...well causing such heartache to others..

Thank you so much, NYCB, for this stunning insight! I’m loving every second! Tess & Zachary are glorious talents- and excellent ballet masters’ notes...such a pleasure to watch this rehearsal! Thank you for doing these- I still frequent the “Tarantella” rehearsal video from last year. 👏

Actually, Stafford is a blithering idiot and his comments usually completely moronic. Worst choice they could have made for a new AD--even worse than Whelan and her PC prudery!

Uma bailarina tão linda e desse nível com todos os arebesques abertos. Todos como dizemos ficaram "a la sebesque". Ela é linda, mas roubar na técnica não dá! E o ângulo da câmera só mostrou mais o problema.

Jessica Puma I think that entire thing was a tragedy for male ballet dancers/male professionals as a whole. This radicalism metoo “movement” (tragedy) must stop. It’s only putting women further behind. Men in the professional realm (outside ballet I’m referring to) are afraid to hire me because I’m seen as a potential liability & this is the case for many women. And the sad thing is: I do not blame them. Men behaving as men is nothing new, we’d learned ways to cope/disassociate ourselves from the “fraternization” and now we’re back at fighting for employment & thinking we’ve won? We (women) have won nothing. 3 talented young men have had their careers destroyed in the meantime & it’s tragic. I assure you the majority of NYCB women relying on these tall, reliable, partners within the company agree with this sentiment. I send my love to you all; devastating loss you all suffered. 🙏☮️❤️

@@katiefulton9456 A "tragedy for MALE ballet dancers"??? I read that the nude photos and videos that were passed around were of woman. "Men behaving as men"? You've got to be kidding me. Is that the way you'd like your husband, brother, son to behave to woman? If this had been done at any other type of Company (outside of ballet) there would be repercussions. As there very well should be. The actual "tragedy" is that it happened at all.

There is a distinct difference in the way Americans do ballet and the way Europeans practice the art. Americans are more like athletes and cheerleaders. The intensity and temperament are there but subtlety and refinement have all but been thrown out of the window....which is OK. It is the American way. Americans have been socialized for hundreds of years. Europeans for thousands of years. Each produces a different cultural outcome. One isn't better than the other....just different. each can learn from the other.
