@ It definitely IS in the water, making people also gay. I know that from reliable sources. It has even been proven. In a US documentary, a movie, by its title "It's in the Water (1997)" - Is there a mineral water filling station in Mormonia? Any hints welcome... ;-)

Your anguish brings me tears. You are created in his image and he will never abandon your soul. I have listened to many coming out stories and there does seem to be many common threads in the stories. One that might be of value to you is the path to realization. When it comes there is often a release. The mental blocks are lifting and you are flooded with relief, happiness and joy. That joy is God's message of love to you. Embrace it and love yourself for who you are. Bless you.

Mikeum, just found you and subbed. I have been counseling young people since before you were born. You are loved and you are exactly where you should be at this moment in time by the plan of God. Dispel any anxiety and keep your heart and being open to love, and you will be continuously blessed. Ignorance that reigns in some churches will be your greatest obstacle; listen to your heart. Love you, bro.........Ray

Thank you for sharing your story. I grew up in Boise, Idaho, and though I am not Mormon, I was raised in a super fundamentalist church that taught me if anything good happened, then Jesus/God did it for me, but if anything bad happened, then I was responsible; ergo, Jesus/God=Good; Me=BAD. What this unconsciously did was to form a world outlook that anything good was external, and everything bad was internal. Similar to you, I inherently felt/believed/knew that I was the way I was (gay), and that because God made me, then that was the way I was meant to be. Living this knowledge forced me to an uncomfortable decision in my 20’s to either be true to myself and turn away from my religion, or turn away from myself and follow my family’s religion; I chose myself, and it was hard. But I am now in my 60’s and have been finding my way to a spiritual life all of my life. Like you, Mikeum, I prayed for guidance, and it has given me a good life. I wish you all the best.

I think it's strange how so many gay men don't realize they're gay until later in life. I knew from the time I was a child. I remember being mesmerized by men's bodies, not sexually just admiringly. I never looked at women that way. I never thought it was wrong even though I was taught it was. I've been lucky that way - no guilt.

I once saw a sign in a pastor's office that said: "God don't make junk!" God made you and you are not junk. God's love is greater than man's judgement. Those who would judge you, who would make your life miserable because of that judgement, are to be ignored! They are usurping God's role. Only He has the right to judge you because only he can know your thoughts and see your heart! He is a God of LOVE. That is what Jesus came to proclaim. So be true to your heart; be true to love, and you will always live rightly. Remember: GOD WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!!!!!

It makes me incredibly sad - and angry - to see the anguish on your face and hear the anguish in your voice as you recount the painful journey you've been on and the struggle you still have. You've already figured out that the church spins nothing but lies around the "issue" of homosexuality, so why not explore the idea that this isn't the only lie they spin. Don't live a life enslaved to a damaging set of superstitions. Free yourself.

Hello Mikeum, thank you for taking us with you on your journey digesting your coming to terms with this sexuality, which I share. For moments, I wasn't sure if I could follow your reasoning, but when you wrapped it all up with this powerfull lines, I suddenly understood your place and found it completely relatable. Once, I had to talk to some non-undestanding new colleagues, about their concern of me being gay would affectig the reputation of their little group. I opened up for them a sincerity, they weren't immunized against, by saying, that I wouldn't have problems to admit my sexuality as an impairment or disability, but would never accept me being judged or excluded rightly. so for that. They asked the typical question, of why I would choose to be unnatural, if my body was normal. I replied, that from all research I had done, I wouldn't find proove, that homosexuality was unnatural. The question came back: is there anything in nature, were some are different by nature. I did not reply, that live is always a spectrum and variation is a feature of biology. I felt them immunized against this argument. So I replied: I am left handed. 5 % of all people are, and ever will be. With homosexuality it is just the same. Everything which might appear weired about homosexuality comes as consequence of the repression, not from its nature. That might be a secular version of your vision. Don't know any more. What I want to say is, that I have to watch your testimonial again, as it seem too rich to fully get it, at once. Thank you very much for sharing, and all the best to you, Hans

We might not have the picture perfect Mormon life, but He loves us. I have been in a few relationships with men and been truly happy and I know that is what He wants for all of His children. I’d love to find an RM to settle down with but, if not, I’ll still be happy in my life. Keep your chin up! You aren’t bad or broken or whatever. You are who you are and God loves and will bless you with the things you need to achieve true happiness in this life and In the next. David

Thank you! My best friend Trevor figured out he was gay while on his church mission in Japan. He wrote me and told me his feelings (that he always surpressed). I comforted him and told him it is okay, when you come back we will find you a really nice guy to hookup with (meaning marry - that was what hookup ment then). When he arrived home, I was still the only one who knew his feelings, BUT I did not know he had a guy already in mind - no not me.
Together we talked about it all and he could not believe that I was sooooo accepting. So, we told his brother who was surprised, but it was his brothers friend my friend Trevor was into and had a major crush on. His MOM hated it all, but his Dad accepted him for him.
It worked out, but after 2 month of dating, they split. He came over to the house and we chatted until late into the morning, where I then told him I was soooo happy they broke up. We have been together for 11 years, have 2 children and love each other. Thanks for your story.

Thank you , thank you, thank you!!! Myself 55yo man who endured being raised Catholic, a father than never meet a stranger that he didn't tell I was supposed to be a girl but still loved equal all the same. Was suicidal and after 2cd counciling my father told me I was better cuz the cost, his word was final, pre-beatings. I learned to cry without sound coming out cuz you get beat again for crying from the other beating you got and we're more sure to get. At 50 yo I told my dear mother about the many years of oarl coppulation by a family member. Like being gay she thought I got over it. Nor did she ask which older family member did such. One week later her dear brother get busted by the feds as a school teacher distributor of child porn, I knew him to be a pedophile 1979. Mom don't you have a bit of curiosity of what I told you 1 week ago??? Was it your uncle "D" that did that over a ten year or so strech? Nope mom not him. Didn't ride the little bus to school yet my dear mother thought my brother needed to be my executor over my inheritance as I was listed "a Special Needs trust"??? The brother who successfully bullied me through child hood? That's not equal in any way to 50/50 down the middle... A 5 year fight with God leading me for the win to His glory with that battle.... Mikeum, I think that the Church..the Church being a manifestation of Jesus.. is all about love, the unconditional love that we are supposed to have for each other. It is not about discrimination, the singling out and exclusion of people or groups based on what is supposedly the norm. You can take courage from the fact that Jesus would exclude no-one who is in a loving relationship with Him and His church.

Being Gay It's NOT a choice. For bisexuals, it IS a choice (choosing between boy and girl, because attraction is to both sexes). But for Gay men & women, attraction to the same sex only, is NOT a choice. If a straight person argues that it is, all you need to say is the following: "If you, as a straight person, say it IS a choice, that means you have attraction to both sexes and CHOSE the opposite sex." You'll then hear a pin drop on the carpet with a loss of words from him / her. Straight people are not attracted to the same sex, just as Gays are not attracted to the opposite sex. Why is it this way? Only God in his infinite wisdom knows. Gay or Straight, we can all be loving caring productive human beings. period and end of story.

    Dearest Mikeum,
you are so wonderful and are so blessed with the face and heart of a teenage Angel. I love to see the presence of our Savior in you, in your Heart, in your Honesty, and in your Spirit. I wish you a most pleasant wonderful life. One concept that the world around us seems to have difficulty in understanding with all of the millions of Human Beings on the planet is... "Why anyone should choose one sex over the other, that's just too limiting. We should honestly be able to say that we maybe have no preference, thus eliminating the labels S,L,G,B,T,Q, Etc..." In my case, even from pre-puberty boyhood, a boy/man was/is my preference and like you, it feels so Good and so Proper for me to flourish. I admire you immensely and absolutely love the way you ended your message. May the Spirit of this once wonderful Man named Jesus continue to dwell in you, in your family, and in your Boyfriend/Husband forever.
    My Love,
    Guy of Vermont. XOXO

You will do well. You're understanding and willingness to still integrate with your church/community despite the difficulties is amazing. I wish you the best in life.

You have your spirituality, just like I do after leaving the Catholic religion. I knew I was gay when I was 9 or so. Didn't know what that word was, but knew I was different from other guys. Your a sweetheart Mikeum.

Hi! One sentence especially dug into my mind: I had no clue about myself. That’s exactly how I grew up and didn’t know anything about my true wishes for a long time. And as a result I felt lonely too but I actually shoved it away, thought it was my fate. Actually beyond being gay there was another layer of pushing me into loneliness caused by my family situation [no father, mother drinking]. I am proud of you having found out yourself that there is serious misrepresentation of being gay in religious teachings. I am very critical on that. The church is a very old human organization, it’s not holy and not divine! You were fully correct saying that you have been dealt a hand that was not ideal to the church. Not to the church, but to you, to lots of other people, to life. So the hand you had been dealt is good! You are good [not bad!]. And btw me too. Best wishes from Germany Martin

Religion poisons everything. Mormonism more than most. I hope you are able to break away from the cult and find true freedom and happiness. You are a nice guy, and you deserve a life free of guilt. Life without religion is a beautiful thing.

I came to see that I used to be harder on God than He was on me. I was the obstacle to feeling His love and peace; He wasn't. I learned a new step in trust and surrender to the magnitude of Divine Love, and brothers, it made a huge difference within me.

Very well put and understand your thinking. I am 66 years old now, and I still have a strong connection with my own being as a Gay man. I grew up in a Catholic environment with elementary education along with going to classes before I received my sacrament of confessing my sins in preparation for my first Holy communion. This was at age 9 or 10. By this time I had some playing with my two friends who were brothers. You would call it petting each other, and stuff of that nature buy nothing more . I grew up always with the the attraction to boys my age and having that longing to be held and spending time alone with . This continued over time as a pre-teen and teenage years. Little to no real experience with young guys but sometimes getting looked at and made fun of for reasons I was not really knowing why I appeared to different to them. Being teased was cruel and made me feel inferior and apart from the norm of being a teen. How ever I learned that a local boy was on the fast track to getting all the experience with guys at my own high school. These were the same boys that made fun of my for not being one of the boys. Several of the best looking and and jock type guys were getting plenty of "real action" with said local boy. For him it was his M.O. Speed ahead, I got married, had two sons of my own and divorced . Been out since 1977. To say my life was "A Wrecking Ball" was a good description of my life. Sobered up in 84 , still sober but not lucking in love. Not for my lack of trying. However, I have lived and experienced life and many ups and downs. Still looking for that one person/man to spend time with. Sincerely ,
    Tom in Minneapolis, MN 9/23/19

It's such a shame what religion does to people like this. It's also a shame what this issue does to religious people... hateful, so unlike what they preach. It's no wonder our younger generations are rejecting religions exponentially.

Mikeum, such a moving story. It has been 6 years since this movie. Are you still in and participating in the Church???? Have you found a spouse or a partner??? What are you doing now. I am wanting to know, because so much of what you have talked about rings true for me too.

Rod McKuen would say words similar to the following at the end of every act. "It does not matter who you love or how you love, but that you love. The good in man is God made manifest and loving is the contribution to that good and to that only God. For in the end the act of loving anyone is the act of loving God."
    Gay love is love.

Dear Mikeum, I trust you're in a good place these days, and I thank you for your couragous and sincere contribution of some years ago to a more tolerant and less ignorant and judgemental world. I think your honesty is really strong, and your story very authentic and recognisable, a breath of fresh air in a sometimes really sick and loveless macho world. I am not religeous, and surely not pretending to be a god, but if I wére your God, I'd be on yóur side and not on that of my formal 'strict but very loveless followers and woreshippers': there simply ís nothing inherently bad or wrong with being gay and loving.
And in almost all religions and life filosophies there certainly ís something bad and wrong with ignorant judgement, and lack of love, tolerance and acceptance. Maybe a little less harsh rational head, and a bit more Jezus-like warm heart might help ... thém that is, not you, because with you is nothing wrong! You are made the way you are, and you have the right to be you, simple as that. Stronger even, there is no alternative or choice, you only cán be you, and nothing else. And it's the intolerant, religious or otherwise, that will have to change, 'cause they can and they should, it is théy who are the problem! God has a healing task ahead, with thém, the coldhearted that never really understood, not with you! You go younger gay brother, and I hope you'll find the love you deserve. I don't care what you believe, but never let them make you forget to believe in yourself first! Cause yóu know better! Yés you do!!! With thanks, respect and love, Robert,

I dream to marry since I was 17. Now I have 29 and I still wish it, even It seem old fashion or we can't dream about it because we need to live by ourselves...Well almost everyday before I sleep I ask to God, Universe, all good energies in world to help me to find someone good to share my daily life. Not to save me or to give meaning to my life, but a guy to walk beside me. Brazil.

Kissed and made out!!! The horror. SINNER!!! LOL! Certainly not Duggar approved (yeah, I know they're not Mormon). A beautiful young man. Clearly, reliving this is very emotional for him. Too bad the church has made him feel so bad about himself. I hope he's living a happy life now, and being his true self. "There's no one else I'd rather be than me." Wow, you broke my heart. You are NOT BAD, my friend. I hope you can move beyond those parts of your religion that say you are, and embrace the good parts if you find you still need to. Know that there is nothing wrong with giving it up. Sometimes the burden is greater than the comfort and joy you think it is giving you. Best and a BIG HUG from Indiana!

Any of us who have faith regardless what church always struggle between our beliefs and our feelings for the people we love. Prayer is good, but being yourself is most important. You'll be fine after you have been with a few men. However, in your particular case you may wish to find another gay Mormon man, because I think it would make it easier for you both knowing you have the same struggles. Never be hard on yourself, you'll be fine. God favors those who are kind at heart, do good favors to others less fortunate. Being a good soul & God's servant is more important to me than worrying about feeling ashamed of who I love.
