    I have a Civic 1.0 CVT which is fast enough and I love it but I wish they would put the 9 speed auto into the petrol engines. Keep up the good work

    I have one of these, i traded in my MG ZS for one. Best move i made. There is no comparison on refinement and driving quality . The biggest factor in changing was MG dealer network . Down in the New Forest we have limited MG dealer network and Richmond who i got the MG from, really annoyed me on my first service and their lack of customer service, when i needed to very minor things sorted out and would not do them on the service, even though i asked a month in advance.. The well known sticky door handles and parcel shelf strap that broke with in ac week. Two simple fixes. They were adamant i book separately and leave the car from 8am till 5pm, meaning a day off work. That did it for me.
    So got a Civic as i like the looks, and a dealer network that includes a dealer right on my doorstep in the New Forest I managed to get a New Civic SR for £17800, same price as a ZS , but a far nicer car to drive, more kit and better to look at

    • @PlanetautoUK
      @PlanetautoUK  4 года назад +1

      Ah that’s interesting to hear, Snd we can see why you’d be disappointed, we deal directly with MG, and they literally do everything we ask if them, answer crazy questions - I’m sure in time the MG dealer network will improve, as the vehicles are extremely good for the money. In the meanwhile enjoy the Civic, superb drivetrain and you got it for a fantastic price, lots of good deals to be had of late.

      Agree, due to the last lockdown loads of cars in stock not sold, so i took advantage of that. They took the MG with out me being in negative equity. I got it from Reading, but i have a Honda dealer on my front door. So that's an added bonus.
      I liked my MG, but i soon got bored of the generic SUV looks and the fact SUV are everywhere. Great thing about the civic, nothing out there that looks like it, so it does turn heads, even though its at the end of its model cycle.

    What MPG did you get with the Eco run to Nottingham in the end?

  • @mrpetehampson
    @mrpetehampson 4 года назад +1

    Probably best to avoid the diesel 9 speed automatic gearbox it isn’t a Honda gearbox it’s made by a company called zf, my last 2006 civic cost almost £1000 in repairs that wasn’t a Honda gearbox, not sure on petrol versions if that’s Honda gearbox

  • @michaelb2388
    @michaelb2388 5 лет назад +1

    I got the SR model at the beginning of the month with the auto gearbox. Once you get used to the buttons it's no slower to operate than an auto gearshift. I still don't fully understand sport mode. If you put it into sport there seems to be no difference until you start to use the paddles, so I guess that's it. There is no auto sport mode, sport just means flappy paddles which I've only tried a few times. I like automatics and this is a good auto box. I saw another US review of the civic and the guy said "Don't get the auto, it's boring and much less driver involvement", but I use my car for business and 90% of the time I'm either on motorways or stuck in traffic jams. So I don't want involvement in the driving experience, I just want easy driving and this car with the auto box gives me just that. The only thing I'm not sure about is the seat. I'm short and I feel too low even on thy highest seat setting. I tried sitting on a cushion but then the rear view mirror obstructs the forward view. Also I'm not convinced that the seat is that comfortable.

    • @PlanetautoUK
      @PlanetautoUK  5 лет назад

      Ahh okay - thank you Michael B, it’s interesting to hear about your experience.
      We did feel a difference in sport mode - it was more responsive. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like the race mode in the Type R, however it did change some of the characteristics.
      Sorry to hear about your seat challenges. We coped well with the seat - even Annabelle did, and she’s only 5 foot 2 - mind you, she is a veteran Honda driver, lol, and has her own EJ9.

    • @michaelb2388
      @michaelb2388 5 лет назад +1

      @@PlanetautoUK So you think it's different in sport mode even if you don't use the paddles? I'll have to give it another try

    • @PlanetautoUK
      @PlanetautoUK  5 лет назад

      One thing we noticed it held gears longer allowing you to get more out of each, Please keep us updated.

    • @michaelb2388
      @michaelb2388 5 лет назад +1

      @@PlanetautoUK Yes I can see the difference. It revs higher in sport mode so obviously drops down a gear. I don't really get the feeling of more response though? Do most modern auto boxes still have gears 1 and 2 like they used to in the old days? Just wondered what you're meant to do in snow or icy conditions on hills, etc? Would you just use low gears via the paddles in sport mode?

    • @PlanetautoUK
      @PlanetautoUK  5 лет назад

      We feel it, it’s not lightning it’s just slightly quicker throttle response, or may be that it is dropping gears, possibly paddles, mind you auto boxes are far more refined, our Merc W124 CE has a 4 Speed auto, and when engaging a gear it lurches 😃 new autos seem to instinctively know when to change gear, traction etc

    I've never seen a British criticize Honda on these days. It must be just because Honda has a factory in UK. Go and watch all of the Honda reviews in RUclips made by British, you will see how proud they are as they feel that it is their production. :D whatever they do is best
    You guys sometimes should try to be honest !

      Hi shipshaq - we are always honest - there are genuine features on this car that we like, and believe should be shared. We are a positive bunch here at Planet Auto, and as the name suggests, love all things automotive. There is always something positive to be shared for any vehicle. You really do need to drive this new 9 speed AT - it will go beyond your expectations.

      Not sure about that. I buy Honda's because they're bomb proof and utterly reliable cars. I've had 4 now with each one kept for around 6 years, not a single problem with any of them. I don't care where they make them though and Honda have announced that they're going back to Japanese plants in the next 3 years, thanks to the free tariff from the EU.

    • @PlanetautoUK
      @PlanetautoUK  5 лет назад

      The old VTEC’s were bomb proof and our EK4 will sit on the redline forever, and it’s not even a VTEC.
      EK9, EP3, these are all great cars that keep going and going...
      Saying that, would have an FK8 tomorrow...it’s all about the love of Honda
