Great to see Disneyland as it started. Think I was the kid looking at the park map. My family went to Disneyland many times that first year. I was 6 years old, and recall shaking hands with Walt three times. He was always sitting on the bench at the hub looking back down Main St. He also smelled from his smoking, and had a big ashtray with him. Also recall seeing him in the train cab at the Main St. station, waving to everyone. He had a big smile. Thanks for making a very enjoyable video.
I remember that they tried a gun fight show in Frontierland at Walt Disney World years ago. It is strange to think that those kind of shows were once apart of Disney entertainment. The parks don’t even sell toy guns anymore.
Aunt Jemima’s Pancake House was THE place to eat. I loved it because Aunt Jemima (Arlene Lewis) treated me like I was one of her kids. She knew I loved her, too. How I miss my Pack Mules! But most of all I miss my Skyway buckets and the Swiss Chalet station. Thank you for doing this work, Justin💕🖖🏼
Great job, Justin! We remember a lot of these things. My husband spent hours on Tom Sawyer Island as a boy because he would run out of tickets and spend the last one on the trip to the island. His parents would just let him and his cousins go do whatever. Their boundaries were the edges of the park.
Wow, one of your best videos yet. The sound effects were excellent. Really great job when you appear in the video. Best part is when Black Bart appears and those stun bullets.
I simply adore these time travel videos. The written script is so creative as it seamlessly fits what we're seeing visually. Such creativity and imagination! Thank you, Justin, for another unbelievable video. Please keep 'em coming......to infinity and beyond!
Wonderful way to spend some part of a day. What a lot of time and effort goes into each of your shows! Thanks for keeping the magic of Disneyland alive and kicking...
I love your back in time videos! You have something going here with these. I hope you you keep on doing these after everything opens up every so often.
What an awesome job on connecting the last which was about the time I started going there with my parents every year, with clever commentary. I am SO appreciative that my parents brought there there once or twice a year since then and to this day I feel the same excitement each and every time I set foot inside Disneyland.
You did a great presentation here, bravo! My uncle was the 5th person hired by Disneyland Inc. in 1954, before construction even began. He was Park Operations Manager from 1956-61, and reported directly to Walt. He left in Jan. of 1961 to revamp Cedar Point Park in Sandusky, Ohio from 1961-65. In 1969 he was one of the VP's of Seaworld, and was tasked with picking the site, and naming their new joint-venture theme park called Magic Mountain, in Valencia, Ca. I was there on opening day, May 28, 1971. If I recall correctly, I believe that Doritos Chips were invented in 1964, at Disneyland at the Mexican food concession, in Frontierland, at Disneyland. First time viewer here, really enjoyed your creativity with this Vlog! Hope that you liked some of the background history, of other Parks, that are still in operation today.
Fantastic job in putting these time travels films together. So much fun seeing what Disney looked like years before I was born. Keeping a smile on my face. Appreciate all the hard work and all the hours you put into putting all this together. Y’all stay well.😊👍
Justin- I can’t express how fantastic this video is! Your facts, as usual, are spot-on. The images you rounded up are amazing. You really created a sense of place in a way that static photos and short video clips just couldn’t do. This is some masters-level Disneyland history here and you should be very proud. Thank you for conceiving of and creating this masterpiece.
Thanks Fror the GREAT Time Travel Justin! I LOVE all your videos! I remember those days so well! My Nana took me there in 65. The Mule ride, Horses, Stage Coaches & Indians were my favorite! I LOVE DISNEY so much! We lived in Burbank & I was lucky enough to go quite often. My Uncle Dorse was a Animator for Disney. Little did I know 55 years later I would move to Oregon own a Stage Coach & team for Parades & Rodeos in my life time, & do Mt. Man & Native Living History Reenactments all over the Country. I retire in a couple years & can't wait to go back! :) Sue
Justin, your hard work, excellent editing and narration skills are on full display in this entertaining video. There is no doubt in my mind that if you had been alive when Walt Disney was hiring employees before he built Disneyland, he would have hired you to help him.
Your *editing skills* are really awesome, I imagine it must have taken a long time to do. You do get the credit you deserve. Love the nostalgic look back on Disneyland back in the day, sometime I wish I was born sooner to experience it. *Stay safe and stay healthy,* I best to you, Ally, and London.
Sure do miss it during those years at Disneyland and especially the " Casa De Fritos " Mexican food restaurant in Frontierland. No one seems to remember it but I sure do, great food and they filled the plates heaping too !
This. Was. Amazing. Thank you so much! Stirred up my emotions big time. First trip wasn't until 1961, I think, but I remember some things so clearly, some things in stories by my parents, some things that were still around in 1968 at my next trip. My parents bought us one of those huge souvenir maps and we wore it to pieces, walking around on it and pretending that we were in DLand. Oh, to have that 1961 map today! Your time travel: So well done. Thank you thank you thank you.
So cool, glad we got to see inside fort wilderness a little. I was in there when i was a little kid in the 70's, I thought I might have only imagined it.
Man, this is amazing. My first trip to the Magic Kingdom was around 1975, when I was three. I got lost in the Haunted Mansion and I almost flew out of the ride vehicle on Space Mountain. Oh, it was the best. Thanks, Justin. Keep up the good work so you can shleep well.
When I was a kid, ages ago- I saw a demonstration of a phone that you could actually see people across the country, and possibly the world?- WHAT. Fascinated ever since.
This was fantastic! Thank you so much for all the work you do on these videos. If you have the footage, I would love to see some 80s tomorrowland complete with journey through interspace and the gone but never forgotten classic people mover.
AH-MAZING! (This is the K part of J&K - my husband already commented lol but I had too as well!) This is the best current Disney video I’ve seen! We’re such huge Disney history nerds along with Vegas history, which we’re always watching on YT. This may be something to look into with our Vegas Vlogs. My mind was completely blown last night watching the behind the scenes videos of Mandalorian, with all the new technology that Jon Favreau has brought to it... 😮😮😮😮 Keep doing these when you can! I can only imagine how long this took you to complete. 💜😊
This was very well put together and very enjoyable to watch and feel like we stepped back in time with you. Thank you Justin for continuing to put out enjoyable content for everyone! :)
The recreated soundtrack is amazing!! Loved the time travel intro in the car and seeing you inside the video. This is simply the best one yet! Did any of those 1950s people notice you looked out of place in your futuristic attire? 😜 Nice job, Justin!
This video is AWESOME!!!!!! I absolutely love it! Thank you so much for making such a great video! It’s clear you put A TON of time, love, and energy into this!! Great work dude!
Great video, as always. I really enjoy watching these old "time machine" videos of yours. It's always cool to see how Disneyland and Knott's looked "back in the day:". As far as Disneyland is concerned, I'm just old enough to remember some of the old features that are now gone, in particular, I remember the Chicken of the Sea restaurant in the middle of Fantasyland. One small thing, that soldier you mentioned was most likely not a Soldier but a Marine. I know it's a small thing but it means a lot to us Marines though.
Yeah your right Justin. The original Frontierland is pretty much all gone now. Especially with the new Star Wars Land taking over most of it. But thanks you and all of the people in the past filming and photographing it, we can still visit what it once was.
This is a great video. Really felt like I was there in the 50s. Never knew about the bears along the Rivers of America. Super cool. I recall the fighting Elks scene. As a cast member at WDW, my first job in Summer of 1986 was on the Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes. Good times.
I wasn't expecting much, but holy cow that was an incredible narrated tour of 1950's Disneyland! I've seen lots of films from back then, but this is the first time I was actually able to make sense of the layout compared to today. Thanks, Justin!
“Oregon’s Columbia River”...how dare you! 🤣 just kidding. Just having some fun from Washington State. Spectacular time travel vid brother! Loved every bit of it. 🙌👍❤️
I love these time travel episodes! I really hope you Time Travel to the original version of New Orleans Square when Pirates and Haunted Mansion first opened. But seriously, I really love these videos!
These historical videos are just the ticket for me and my family. Great work. Loved the edit where you were behind some folks and in front of other parts of the scene. Just loving it. Thank you. See you back at the parks and on the road soon, I hope.
Yes, Justin, you are a teacher. One of the best history teachers ever. This is coming from retired biology teacher who also has an interest in local history also. I try to share that history with others just as you do.
Hi Justin, you are an inspiration to all of us smaller channels with all the hard work you put in to keep the videos coming even when you can't get on the road.
Love the video!! Thank you!!! I also thought it was funny how that guy was standing on the outside of the tea cups trying to spin it while it was moving. lol Hope you and your family are doing well and staying safe.
Fantastic video! Love your attention to every detail in your narration, as in the name of the trains, Walt Disney's father a black smtih and marshall, the real desert landscape who knew
Love watching your videos. This was very similar to what it looked like in the 60's, except the skirts were a lot higher, lol. But this brought back so many memories of my first visit to Disneyland
Absolutely FANTASTIC Justin💙💜☀️🧚✨ These time travel videos have brought so much joy to us all during a time where we dearly need it. Thank you for all your hard work to bring positivity and magic to us all🤗🏰🎠🚂🎈🍿Walt, would be prouddddddd!
Thanks for the blast from the past. I can see you put a lot of work into these videos, and the high production values show. I lived in southern California throughout the 1960s and remember our family trips to Disneyland with fondness. For us, Fantasyland was the least interesting parts of the park, and aside from Storybook Land, and later It's A Small World, we mostly avoided it. Tomorrowland and Frontierland were the hot spots, as well as Adventureland. And of course later when New Orleans Square opened it quickly became our favorite land. My last trip as a child was in the summer of 1968, and I would not return until thirty years later.
Phenomenal! Such memories from my childhood! Your special effects are just right. Clearly a lot of effort to do this and yet in no way diminish the historical “flux” - GREAT JOB - THANK YOU!
Nobody does this better man . Loved it , learned a lot
Great to see Disneyland as it started. Think I was the kid looking at the park map. My family went to Disneyland many times that first year. I was 6 years old, and recall shaking hands with Walt three times. Thanks for making a very enjoyable video.
Loved how people dressed up in their finest clothes and made an effort
Justin! Wow, what a production. You outdid yourself on this one. Thanks for giving us a day at 1950's Disneyland. 👍🏻
“Disneyland is STILL closed!”
Oh Justin, if only you knew...
I remember that they tried a gun fight show in Frontierland at Walt Disney World years ago. It is strange to think that those kind of shows were once apart of Disney entertainment. The parks don’t even sell toy guns anymore.
You spent a lot of time on this and it made my day buddy.
A curse on the dorks who disliked this. I think it’s brilliant and a whole Matterhorn of work.
Thanks, Justin!
I loved this intro! The whole video was awesome! Great job! Thanks Justin! 🙂
The crowd size is awesome. You can actually walk.
You just brought me back to my childhood. Thank you
23:00 Chief AutoParts! 😉
So FUN! And look at you, Chroma keying yourself into scenes from the 1950s! TV MAGIC!😎
Great job, Justin! We remember a lot of these things. My husband spent hours on Tom Sawyer Island as a boy because he would run out of tickets and spend the last one on the trip to the island. His parents would just let him and his cousins go do whatever. Their boundaries were the edges of the park.
I love the editing and the way you entered the pictures.
in my opinion this is by far the greatest video you have ever uploaded.... Please do more
I've missed you Justin! Can't wait for things to be back to "normal"
Wow, one of your best videos yet. The sound effects were excellent. Really great job when you appear in the video. Best part is when Black Bart appears and those stun bullets.
Ok RUclips, you're starting to go on a whole different level with these recommendations.
I was born in the 50s and this is just how I remember it. Love it.!!!!

I love your back in time videos! You have something going here with these. I hope you you keep on doing these after everything opens up every so often.
Wow....just wow! This is so well done.... I can think of nothing else that so effectively makes you feel what it was like in Disneyland early days.
Thanks for your love to give great videos! We appreciate you.

Just wanted to keep hitting "LIKE" all the way through. Thanks for your hard work curating and sharing Disneyland history! Thanks for taking us along!
Justin keeps out-doing himself! This video is great! Putting himself into the 1950's footage is just great!
I forgot about the pack mules!❤️
Good job!
So cool, glad we got to see inside fort wilderness a little. I was in there when i was a little kid in the 70's, I thought I might have only imagined it.
I'm loving it more than you love that popcorn..

I never knew about the "forbidden village" and how that related to the burning cabin, thats some interesting pre-big thunder lore
Justin that was just absolutely great, still as funny now as you were back when we were teens. Keep the videos coming man!
This video is AWESOME!!!!!! I absolutely love it! Thank you so much for making such a great video! It’s clear you put A TON of time, love, and energy into this!! Great work dude!
That was very emotional at the end. Great work.
Really enjoyed that! Very good job with the editing, commentary, and those great old films.
I love learning about what it was like back then! i’m surprised there’s even such content, and a heck of it
These going to the past videos of Disneyland are amazing I hope you do 70s and 80s soon.

Justin my friend, you and Adam the Woo are the only you tubers that I give a thumbs up to before I watch the video. As always, excellent work.
Well done, this is one of your best ever!
It's time to go home and sleep well!. Love the adorable Justin doll. If Ali gets mad at you, She can do some voodoo on you!. Lol.

I loved my Uncle Walt and know he would love you, Justin, and your kindred understanding of his Disneyland 🥰
Another great trip into the past for a visit to Disneyland. I appreciate huge the effort that goes into videos like this. Thanks Justin.
Such good stuff Justin!! That sound design tho👍👍👍You nailed it.

This series is amazing. Inspired idea, and top notch execution. 👏
Justin you’ve gotten so good at time travel the cgi is great 👍
Justin, thank# #o so much for these looks back at early Disneyland. I seem to vaguely remember the stagecoach rides and the Indian village. LOL
I love these time travel videos!! Very creative! 😁✔️✔️
Phenomenal! Such memories from my childhood! Your special effects are just right. Clearly a lot of effort to do this and yet in no way diminish the historical “flux” - GREAT JOB - THANK YOU!
12:33 Whoa, check out that stagecoach-wheel film effect -- that back wheel appeared stationary!
"Let me look directly into mah gun...." LOL... Oh man... I'm rolling...
Fantastic! Thank you for this...it made my day!
These videos are incredible! Love looking at the fashion and how amazing Disney looked long ago. Thanks, Justin!
Wow, some great footage. Awesome time traveling, thank you for sharing!
