Loved this! I was there in 1955...we drove from St. Louis to LA ..on Route 66. Went every year from '55 to '64. Flew after that then I moved to Garden Grove in 1973 till 1987.
Justin you really outdid yourself with this one. I’ve watched it 4 times. I was working from home listening to vids when I clicked on it and I had to stop working and focus on this instead . Lol. Great job! Thank you for sharing your passions with the world, because we’re passionate too!
Thanks, that brought back many fond memories of our first time at Disneyland when we first move to California. The second time we went ws around '61 right after they put in the sub ride,Matahorn, and monorail. When we rode on the monorail we were fortunate enough to ride in the lead car with the pilot seating right above us.great family experience for sure!
Well done, sir. That must have taken quite a long time to edit, and I offer my appreciation. A fascinating, entertaining look at the early years. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you Justin, I couldn't stop smiling. I was born in 1955 and didn't go to Disneyland with my family (Dad, Mom, & Brother) until 1962. Interstate 5 was a two lane road.
Imagineers and "Disneyland The Nickle Tour" book authors David Mumford and Bruce Gordon (friends of mine, who sadly passed away years ago) would have loved this! They also were big BTTF fans, and knew every filming location. As a kid myself, I remember watching them fly model planes in the flight circle, and eating tuna fish sandwiches at the Grotto. Sure miss the "muted" colors on the castle, and an actual snowline on the Matterhorn!! Next time you time travel, maybe dress up a bit, so the 1950s guests aren't looking at you so funny! LOL! Well done!!!!! P.S. since your brother is a train nut, tell him that I built a 12 foot high Big Thunder Mtn. in G-Scale here in NorCal. :)
I was there then and remember it well. Very excited to time travel to the 60's when the park really blossomed in Walt's final years. Tomorrowland became the beautiful gem of the park in the upgrade and the happening scene with live rock and roll day and night. And Pirates of the Carribean was born blowing everybody away!
I sure do miss that original Disneyland of my early years. 6 decades later, It just ain't the same any more - but then, nothing is. Thanks for letting me borrow your time machine on several occasions to revisit my childhood summer vacations!
That was Fantastic!!! Don't know how & where you found all the old, original Disneyland home movies from way back when, but so glad you did!!!! Thanks for taking us back to the beginnings of Disneyland!!!!!
Thanks for taking the time to edit all of the historical footage in order to give us all a trip back in time to the Disneyland of our childhood! So many amazing memories!
This is actually one of the best videos of the very early Disneyland that I have yet to see created! You used vintaged videos and what even looks like family film footage to takes us back to 1955-1959! I really enjoy this!
The Disney Magic is alive and kicking! Thanks for the fantastic job of helping us all travel back in time. Brought back many wonderful memories! Thanks for the many hours of editing and scripting ...what a great start of my day!
I remember when going through the Matterhorn on the skyway you could see most of the track of the Matterhorn as it was basically wide open in the mountain. it was later that they remolded the Matterhorn and enclosed all the track in the mountain.
Justin, I grew up in Southern California and have been going to Disneyland since I was five years old. It is so awesome that your videos allow me to remember how things were at the park, and how far it has come. Thank you!!!
My Pop's was an iron-worker in So. Cal in the late 60's - 90's- and all thru the 70's he worked at Disneyland. We had a "Jungle Gym" in our backyard from the iron bamboo at the Jungle Cruise ride. It was about 12 feet high by 12 wide cube. My baby bro jumped off with his "Batman cape" and bit completely through his bottom lip landing. Nailed it. Good times.
First time at Disneyland was on my 5th birthday, August 8, 1960 (so I was born about 3 weeks after DL opened, lol). My favorite ride was Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride! I still remember the glow in the dark Tinkerbell magic wand and Mickey Mouse caps as souvenirs from that trip. Also, walking back with my parents to our ‘55 Chevy in the huge parking lot, where my balloons kept getting in the faces of two women walking along with us. On our way back to our home in Oregon, my parents tried to fool me by saying Mt. Shasta was the Matterhorn… Fast forward to the year 2006, when at age 51 I returned again to Disneyland, and my fave ride? You guessed it… Mr Toad’s Wild Ride! Some things never change…
Wow! You did such a great job on your video. I loved the back to the future reference in the beginning. I could tell you put a lot of work into this and you really know you history. Love checking out nostalgic Disneyland! Thanks :)
Wow that makes me feel young. I didn't visit the Magic Kingdom until the 70's. in Florida. First year stayed in the Contemporary. Good times. Thanks for the memories.
Both of these installments of your's actually brought me right there somehow and made me think, 'Walt basically JUST built this thing and imagined all this up with his team. This place that we all love and go to still to today.' It's a really wild thing.
I’m loving these Randomland Time Travel videos. It’s always cool to see old footage of the Disney Parks. And your presentation of the material makes it the best way to visit old Time Disneyland... at least until real time travel becomes possible.
Awesome opening for your beginning to travel to Disneyland back in time and the other time travelers you have done thanks for sharing and keep your videos coming
Great stuff, I seem to remember the Skyway being sponsored by Chrysler in the early 60's we lived near Brookhurst and Katella as kids. We used to get to watch the fireworks, then go to bed...
My entire family enjoys watching your videos! Your excitement when you experience new attractions & when you went to the Halloween Party at DCA...AWESOME!!! Keep it going! Hope to see you one day at Disneyland. :)
I often find myself craving a nice hot tuna pie while wandering through Fantasyland on a sweltering hot southern California summer day! That vid was awesome! Love the time-travel!
Outstanding job Justin! 👏👏 It's so good I've rewatched it twice and going to watch it a 3rd time because I love to stop the video and stare at how different the park looks today. Thank you for this pure magic. ❤❤
Little did he know that Disneyland was going to shut down back when he started putting this all together. It's amazing how things just work out... LOL...
That flux capacitor transferred a lot of rich details to the 21st century. During the tour, I didn't notice any vending machines, but I know they were there, especially the cigarette machine near Dumbo. That machine survived until just before the 1983 Fantasyland upgrade. Vending machines were the future at the Space Bar until they became the past in 1967. The flux capacitor might need little time warp adjustment. Although it seems to have been around "forever," I think Jack Wagner's "permanecer sentados por favor" line was added to his spiel during the 1978 Matterhorn upgrade. Still, that's a remarkably accurate compilation of details in a tour guide format that would make Walt proud.
Justin was the mysterious guy with sunglasses and a phone in that old picture that I've seen in so many unsolved photo videos
Loved this! I was there in 1955...we drove from St. Louis to LA ..on Route 66. Went every year from '55 to '64. Flew after that then I moved to Garden Grove in 1973 till 1987.
Wild to realize that each of these kids we see in this footage are well into their 70’s now (that is, if they’re still with us....)!
Incredibly well done, Justin. You’re definitely in a league of your own. You can see that this is a labor of love and it’s really appreciated.
It’s things like this that make you my favorite ever.
Are we back ?
“Oh man you can smell the new paint on the new disneyland railroad!”
Umm that’s a lead based paint, y’might wanna ease on that stuff lol 🤣
I hope we can travel to the 80's Disneyland someday!
If I could time travel, I would go back to opening day of The Haunted Mansion, so I could see the original Hatbox Ghost
Justin you really outdid yourself with this one. I’ve watched it 4 times. I was working from home listening to vids when I clicked on it and I had to stop working and focus on this instead . Lol. Great job! Thank you for sharing your passions with the world, because we’re passionate too!
If time travel was invented old time Disneyland would be my destination of choice. I love this video!
This was a pretty clever set up. As long as we're time traveling, I want to stop by 1990 Disney World. I miss when MGM Studios was a working studio.
OMG I am 61 and that brought a lot of memories back to me. Thanks.
What a wonderful journey into the past
These flashback videos are soooooooooooooooooooo fun!!!!

These Time Travel vids are terrific! Armchair Touristing at its best!
Thank you Justin, I couldn't stop smiling. I was born in 1955 and didn't go to Disneyland with my family (Dad, Mom, & Brother) until 1962. Interstate 5 was a two lane road.
Like old fashion Disneyland park.😀😄😁😆😃😀
A beautifully crafted historical tribute to Disney of bygone days. Thanks Justin for your hard work and dedication!

You made my day!! My eyes are sweaty with respect 😭 I miss Disneyland. No better way to end a bad day with a trip back in time to Disneyland! 😁
this is so cool

These time travel pieces are MASTERFUL
Good stuff Justin! I love how you added yourself into some of the shots. Oh sorry, I mean, LOVE how you were actually there!!!
If we could time travel id go to Disney in the 50s, 80, and 90s.
Is the Chicken of the Sea boat where the Enchantment Under the Sea dance took place? 🤔
What a fun trip back in time! Thanks Justin! 😃
That was Fantastic!!! Don't know how & where you found all the old, original Disneyland home movies from way back when, but so glad you did!!!! Thanks for taking us back to the beginnings of Disneyland!!!!!
Hope you travel back to Disneyland in the 1970's, 80's and 90's. Just curious of what they're like back then.
What a great way to share and preserve these old home movies! These are so much fun, I love it!!
Thanks for taking the time to edit all of the historical footage in order to give us all a trip back in time to the Disneyland of our childhood! So many amazing memories!

Thanks again for taking us back in time to Disneyland. Your narration added great historical information.
An amazing show. Thanks for all of the work it took and the high production value. 😎

Soooooooo awesome! Great editing and integration of Justin in the 1950s.
I absolutely LOVE this, so many memories of my own first trip (1972? 73?) Gets me right in the feels!
