I expected you to come around on Wildlands Shaman. The class is stacked enough to be a deck of cards, glad to see it fully appreciated. Also, I know you already did the Hunter video and remaking it would be a hassle, but in the most recent patch Owlcat made the animal aspects be an inherent bonus instead of enhancement, and want to hear your thoughts about that. Personally I think it's pretty huge, tho I still believe that divine hound is top dog.
I think the patch is definitely a big deal for hunter. Once I am done with Prestige classes a summary video will come out that will contain any corrections I have. We will revisit the Hunter classes at that point.
they fixed all pet attacks too, elks boars etc animals with tusks or horns, triceratops, used to not actually have a gore attack I think they just got like a bugged unarmed strike. Now they do gore and gore also comes with a trip attack making the dog or wolf far less mandatory. Now there's a lot more fun options and boar and elk are much higher tier.
@@JockoJonson17 Yeah, it will never overtake ranger in power or ease to play, but it has different stuff going for people who like the nature-theme fighting alongside a pet thing who want to try something different.
Just a note, if you take the nature spirit or Mythic ability second spirit Nature you will get a full scaling pet at lvl 16. It is quite late but from then onward Shadow Shaman and Spirit Hunter will outshine the Wildland Shaman as possibly the two most stacked subclasses in the game. Add 1d6 sonic damage on all melee attacks for free as well. If going Angel might even dethrone Oracle/Angel as the most OP main character of them all. Great content btw. This series is amazing to watch.
Thank you! Glad you are enjoying the series. That's a good call out but it wouldn't have changed my rankings because I think levels 1-16 are way harder than 16-20.
The possessed shaman seems like a cool class for roleplay. Makes me think that whoever their animal spirit they're bound with the animal spirit is protecting the shaman from entities trying to possess the shaman. An rp run I made my possessed shaman has a few dips rogue cause he's part of an elusive group of shamans who are bounded with the cat as they're known for secrecy and cunning. Like the cat shamans from shadowrun
I've really enjoyed following your journey through all these classes and archetypes. Shadow Shaman is my favorite archetype for shamans thematically and that's what I finally decided on a playthrough with but Wildland Shaman sounds like a blast. Anyway, I appreciate all your insights and breakdowns. Looking forward to the next one.
@manny022 I'll have to look into that. I don't ever really think about multiclassing or class dips unless I'm going for a specific prestige class that requires it. It's definitely a big blind spot for me when coming up with character ideas.
@jamesbrice3267 I enjoy this for thematic reasons. Not everyone needs to dual wield. But mostly because she's such a lovely person to have in the party 😅
So enjoying these videos! I was wondering if you could do an end video, just quickly telling us the S or greater, or A and greater picks? If you could also pick you're top 3 for you, that you have played, or like to play at sometime in the future, that would be interesting too. Take care.
I just found this channel today and I've been binging this series (and the comments for the algorithm) and the one thing I've come to? Dude I've got like 20 tabs open trying to figure out what to reroll as for achievements. He has a LOT of good points.
You forgot to mention that since Wildlands Shaman is half-orc they get access to orc weapons, most notably falchions and greataxes. A huge improvement over the regular simple weapons shamans normally get. Ideally one should use falchions until chapter 3 then switch to Grave Singer.
I'm realy enjoying this series of videos and your analysis. @Slandered Gaming are you gonna cover the prestige classes as well? It would be nice to have your input!
So I do enjoy spirithunter as a unique choice when you do lich into gold dragon my thought processing being that you agreed with Zachy boy because you where afraid of him and he had points an army of the undead really could beat the demons where so many others had failed. But when the time came to devote yourself you couldn't let yourself become a monster. It's strictly RP. But I enjoyed the concept tremendously. I also keep trying to come up with comments to keep video engagement up and boost your videos. Love it keep it up!
I think you could do it in one video, but I would love to hear your thoughts and break down on the usability of the Prestige Classes , it could be a little more in depth like whether going to level 10 is worth it or not and how they can be used to multiclass effectively since pathfinder kinda pushes you toward level 20 progressions in the table top. Some of them are pretty good though 3 levels in loremaster can bridge gaps in a lot of builds for example. A legend wizard with eldritch knight and arcane trickster or loremaster can have 40 caster level, some neat things that are uniquely available to them are there. and some like Winter Witch are pretty C Minus tier.
@@SlanderedGaming even better if you have that much to talk about. I really like how the game is kinda generous with stacked stats in classes like it's not the same as the tabletop, but it's also pretty damn hard and you can massively increase the difficulty past 'unfair' if you really think you have a build going, of which there seem to be many, and that's without mods. I really do like how they designed it around replay and making it really fucking hard which justifies some of the op original classes they've come up with, even if some of them are super wasted potential, like master of all and spell dancer. Cavalier of the Paw and Blood Mage are pretty gnarly, never mind the insane power density of the wildlands shaman, you really do need to start multiclassing and doing minmaxy autistic calculations to be truly OP though, its a good gameplay balance even if its not perfect lots of ways to skin that cat. I'm just looking foreward to it because this list ended up being fairly bullet points and dismissive, (rightly so to be like this is bad this is why moving on ) but I'm sure you'll have more ideas about how to use prestige classes for a couple of levels or even 10 and your approach to theorycrafting builds takes very different priorities than mine and seem just as valid. I am looking foreward to you discussing these in a little more depth as they're largely holdovers from 3.5 stuff that largely got cast aside and forgotten once they really got the hang of archetyping classes. but owlcats really made them shine. But its like why take 10 levels in winter which when you could take 8 and 2 in Eldritch Knight, you're just taking 9 and 10 to complete your attack bonus progression anyway! Arcane Trickster is still pretty good for traps and shit, looting chest you cant even reach and fun stuff though I think the max potentiality for prestige classes is definitely going legend, you keep your mythic power till right before the end of the game on top of it, making you retardo banans and you can stack two or more if you're just dipping prestige classes on top. Not that dual 20 progressions arent crazy too, but I dunno the caster level progression they grant is pretty much the best thing you could possibly do for a mage they end up with more total levels than a merged spellbook, Oh man see I'm having a blast just thinking about it so I'll stop ranting and raving now. Looking forward to it, love the videos and the passion for good rpgs.
I love Being a spirit hunter thats an exact opposite of Camellia. I go the lawful good route, angel mythic path. In my head their reason for spirit hunting is hunting all the evil spirits of the land and bringing order and allowing the good spirits to flourish
"For whatever reason, the devs have nerfed [Elemental Barrage for melee]" Is it really that confusing? That was broken beyond all hell and back again. I can get not agreeing with it, because those builds were enjoyable, but I definitely understand the reason haha.
NOBODY is using spells of different elements to consistently attack. So the nerf essentially made Elemental Barrage useless. I don't understand the reasoning of that at all.
I chose Witch Doctor... and regret it, but for different reasons. I feel I have plenty of Hexes, so that is not the issue. The issue is the main feature of this class is spontaneous Dispel Magic on your allies, but it just really sucks because it generally dispels your friendly buffs and almost never dispels the negative effects in WotR. Removing curses can be a pain, so there is that advantage (a bit less save scumming :P). If the Witch Doctor could dispel negative effects instead of friendly spells, it would be really nice. There is a Mythic ability that does something like that as a sort of Greater Dispel. // Truth be told, I chose my class/race with a random roll, for fun, and I got Dwarf Shaman, but Witch Doctor was my own bad choice among Shaman archetypes, sigh. Though the Channel Energy (heal AOE) is nice.
If I had known better, the first 3 would have been better options. Though I am wary that trying to make the Shaman good in melee attacks is not efficient or viable (squishy).
Ever since I saw your video about a certain party member, Shaman has been near the top of my list in order to fill that gap (since having that spoiled for me guarantees that I'll never use them lol), so I'm definitely thinking Spirit Hunter or Wildlands Shaman 🙂 I'm disappointed in the Witch Doctor archetype. Not because It's one of the weaker archetypes, but due to it not fitting its namesake. I'm certain that like me, most people read that archetype name and think "that's probably a Shaman mixed with an Alchemist", and then see what you presented here and wonder what the devs were thinking in using such an iconic name for an archetype that doesn't fit AT ALL 😕
That companion has been a perfect fit for demon run :) wild land is an amazing class, a big axe, boar riding, magic casting orc is a ton of fun. Angle gives it pretty redic spell powers. Grave singer axe for the crit madness, the trip AoO combo is deadly.
@@SlanderedGaming Sounds like a bug to me! In the tabletop Half-Orcs aren't any different in size, hell even Orcs aren't. Would be really weird, especially if they don't have any of the other bonuses and penalties of being large, like having a larger natural reach, a -1 on all attacks, or better damage dice on weapons.
Hmmmm that's a tough choice. I would probably say Solasta only because it seems like they are supporting that game much more. I have been disappointed with the post release content for King Arthur thus far although the game is absolutely fantastic and worth your time.
Don't disagree with much here. Some of the Shaman archetypes have interesting themes and could be fun in tabletop but are not very practical for WotR. Shadow Shaman is great, Wildlands Shaman is great, Spirit Hunter is good, Possessed Shaman is fine for a little flavor, most of the rest are pretty mediocre.
I just played Shadow Shaman last patched, in fact if you are not going to be support caster just full house melee attacker, its a very good class, because you only actually need few hex- ice plant, air barrel and battle, you dont need much since you wont going to use hex but just do attack, its actually better than Spirit Hunter since SH cant do elemental barrage with melee anymore so her weapon enchantment pretty much useless now, Shadow Shaman is consider the best one among shaman class.
