"Blitva Lešo" is really very popular - especially in Split. That's probably why the rest of Croatia calls us "Blitvari"😂. And honestly, this is not a traditional way of preparation, but it doesn't matter, an interesting (tasty) way of preparation that I will try for a change. Thumbs up.

This is not how traditional blitva is made. The potatoes are boiled to softness, and then swiss chard is added to water and boiled for few minutes. Both are drained, placed in bowl and olive oil, salt pepper is added. I dont know where you found this recipe as "national" bc it's not.

We had a house on the Istrian coast just outside Opatia which was glorious favorite childhood memories. This dish is technically Serbo-croatian and like many descendants of the former Yugoslavia (my Dad was born in 1908 in a small Serbian village and had a brain the size of a planet) because of that monster Milosovitch committing genocide in Bosnia the country fell apart after Tito's death. My sis pretends we're not serbs. We are. But we know the difference between right and wrong. Some Serbian dishes are a bit different because of the influence of the Ottoman empire so more like greek food but by and large it's wonderful food.

Try this with young leaves of Blitva or Spinat:
Chop the young shalots and put them on fire with olive oil and chili if you like, before shalots become yelow ad blitva and close it on steam for 3-5 min. That is bomb!! Sorry on my bad English , i hope you will understand it all

Hi, Van...of course (I'm not sure what that app is!). Just go to allyskitchen.com You can put key words in the search box. For instance, this recipe 'Croatian Blitva' or just 'blitva'. Please let me know if you have issues! Thanks so much!

In showing us how to make…u skipped the covering up the skillet part…which you showed at the end. For how long did U do that? Also didn’t mention washing the chard? Was it pre washed?
