The second one was interesting. I don't really like it when people use 99% their own library and just one or two ambient type elements and the first one was an extreme example of that. It is a good fall-back strategy if you get some wack records but it's not very interesting to watch and this guy made next to no effort to find good samples. It's just pick anything, put the same old generic drums on it and make a generic hip-hop record. He did make up for it with the second part though. Better than average.
yo man..i been watching this since the beginning...i seen cats on here sample cassette tapes, video games and now vhs movies. its all about a ear bro. u gotta have a ear to sample video games & VHS movies. its not easy to create beats off those platforms. its not like he finding samples off records.
brandan evans you honestly dont need an ear to make a beat. You need an ear to make a GOOD beat. Anyone who knows how to work music production equipment can make a beat.
This shit is hella flames. To take such a small snippet and create a full length constructed beat is pure talent. Sometimes all you need is a small piece to create a masterpiece. All producers (including me) Take notes. This is very creative
Hope Chiguvo Jedi Mind Tricks used a part of the Bible in the Intro to their first album. (It might have been a pre-existing recording of it but it was still from the Bible which is pretty cool)
People sayin anything other than how innovative this is really need to check it. Man is being original and successful at it. If he did the same old people would have gripes. Damned if he do. Let him be creative. His ear for samples is ill
I'm 45 and this is not innovative had similar setup for sampling back in late 90-2000 because I went to a studio where the the producer was doing the same thing with even cheaper gear, but I guess most are just familiar with import click and drag
I swear Rhythm Roulette makes me appreciate the artform that is sampling. it gets a bad rep at times, but the fact that beatmakers are just digging up random sounds from anything makes it so unique. Btw, I thought the beat was alright *shrugs*.
@@bigw4403Obviously someone has physically touched the record before, they were clearly talking about flipping a record no one has ever tried sampling.
Dope! Original approach, minimal resources, a good ear for "that sound", and a little humility. I love the 9th, KRIT, Statik, Nottz, etc., but I'm gonna put this right up there with my favs.
straight to the basics, that's what'll never die and that's what we need more of in mainstream. yo mass appeal will you please get premier on this already
Son it's not 2017..It's life! Hip Hop is Art & Art will always expand. When Hip Hop expanded, it became Culture. Culture is a lifestyle. This is his lifestyle so please stop bashing it. old vhs movies is how i discovered i could sample and make beats.Always wanted to put on record some of the quotes and sounds in movies i heard growing up watching vhs movies.Shoutout to Three Six Mafia for that perfect influence between movies n music.
thank goodness youtube exists, no way I could set through VHS tapes like this guy looking for samples. I'd start sweating & getting pissed 5 minutes in.
"When you hear "Ayy Tony!" drops at the start of a Soundcloud joint, you know that beat is going to be some hot fire" I have literally never heard "Ayy Tony" at the start of a soundcloud song lmao who is this guy
quraf he's actually pretty slept on , he's getting huge here at NYC seen him MC with Joey badass at one point at this yacht party , and makes some sick tracks with wiki from ratking soundcloud.com/tonyseltzer/secret-circle-my-way-prod-tony-seltzer
Yo this is rhythm roulette and instead of vinyl we at the gym about to sample three pairs of sweaty gym socks that I picked blindfolded. Let's get it.
Can't have pairs. That's six. You're only allowed three.
who knows maybe next time they'll go to a farmer's market
All of them gone give you the STANK FACE 😄
😂😂😂😂
Rhythm Roulette Is the only reason I sub to Mass Appeal tbh
Modman It's the only reason that makes sense
fuck, it's the only reason i'm using the internet
L
Modman i dont even sub. i just get notified if something gets added to this playlist lol
Modman FACTS!!!! I didn't know they showed anything else 😂😂
cant believe he went straight for the soul section
LMAO
🤣🤣
Hahaha!
This is definitely one of the more creative rhythm roulettes. It makes me want to step my game up.
like forreal
Ant isn't allowed to sample anymore. They keep him in a cage so they can make money without getting sued
Ppl been doing this for years -.-
"uh oh...what was that there...." the best words to hear from a producer listening to something for samples
thats an ambient noise turned into an interesting experimental beat, don't know what y'all complaining about.

Tony A dog when it come to beats
At this rate, producers will somehow start sampling shit from The Bible
Hope Chiguvo Jedi Mind Tricks used a part of the Bible in the Intro to their first album. (It might have been a pre-existing recording of it but it was still from the Bible which is pretty cool)
I tried so hard not to laugh bc it's late and I gave in and almost puked
Hope Chiguvo Killah Priest is the GOAT of the biblical samples
Hope Chiguvo 😂😂
AyoDesigns really wasnt that funny

Ant P ppl are always going to have something to say,if it was a 5yr old making a beat they would say something negative
jonblakk73ab Forreal yo. Just appreciate. People lie to themselves so they don't feel less talented
Ant P facts
I'm 45 and this is not innovative had similar setup for sampling back in late 90-2000 because I went to a studio where the the producer was doing the same thing with even cheaper gear, but I guess most are just familiar with import click and drag
He snapped with that second beat, got some Pharrell vibes from that.
Not my cup of tea but give him props for digging vhs. 👏😌
All respect and great humility, I think he was great and one of the more experimental episodes in a while but I gotta give myself more credit.
Sick, good to see a bit of a curve ball with the format.
His name is Tony Seltzer while he sit and drink seltzer water on camera... promo game on 1,000. You know he from Jersey lmao
Tony From Brooklyn

poet215 it gets 'a bad rep' from random dudes in the comments who never made a beat lol
True lol. Folks haven't lived until they flip a thrift store record that no one has ever touched in their lives.
@@poet215 bro do u know how thrift stores work
@@bigw4403Obviously someone has physically touched the record before, they were clearly talking about flipping a record no one has ever tried sampling.
@@mjstray7961 OHHH bro then why didn’t he just word it like that 😭😭😂😂
still want Ant from Atmosphere to do the show lol
Brian Castillo Yessss!!!
Brian Castillo that would give me seizure
Would be the absolute greatest episode
Ant is boring and so is Atmosphere

ain't gonna lie if this is new way of producing. I'm all for it tbh
it sounded so much sicker while he was doing it live then in the final version at the end
that second beat could be a hit with the right pop/rnb artist
Beautiful approach to sampling. A lot of sound outside of most record shelves to be manipulated in awesome ways. Makes me want to step MY game up!
