Love my Phone (1), eagerly awaiting the Nothing OS 2.0, but I may be skipping this S gen. As you correctly said, there are very good contenders for a lower price - although the Nothing's design still is awesome.

Well i wss thinking of purchasing a pixel 8 until i saw this and other reviews 😊 Google Pixel have changed too much and they no longer have the pixel appeal they used to have . Im not bothered about the cameras ( why are people obsessed with phone cameras?) All phones take decent enough candid images 😊

I'm on the moto g72 and I can't emphasize the clean look and awesomeness of a near stock Android .... Nothing os is like a more polished Android experience (for me) I love the clean look, my next phone might just be a nothing phone

Hey, great review. Random ask, is there any hardware shortcut for flashlight? Like triple tapping power button or something?
Idk what "S upgrade" you experienced with iPhones, but a physical change in hardware, and a push from mid tier specs to flag ship specs, including a OS update is not even something you can expect from a whole proper generation update from apple.
In the past, iPhone “S” upgrades revolved around new processors, sometimes new cameras and OS upgrades in the same physical shell as last year’s model. Granted back then there weren’t as established “mid-tier SOC” and “flagship SOC” chips, however I remember the speed difference between iPhone 3G and 3GS being massive. Like, night and day.

I guess what I mean is that in this day and age where smartphones have plateaued, the changes these companies make are going to seem less drastic, and that’s the general feeling I got with Phone (2).
So you might have a point - it may not be fair to call Phone (2) an “S” upgrade because Nothing has done everything they could to make this a better phone, in almost every way. It may just be my general sentiment towards smartphones these days. They’ve simply gotten too good 😆

The Nothing Phone 2 is very difficult to recommend. While I love the transparent back, the glyph design is now further segmented, but still looks laughably arbitrary (is it trying to be a deformed Apple logo?) with spacing between the segments that gives the impression their designer got their degree from nothing college. As you mention, its price range stacks it against the Pixel 7 and 7a which in my opinion is tied with the iPhone 14 for greatest phone, due to its cameras and software. I also am not a fan of the pillowed glass back, which adds unnecessary thickness.
The concept behind the Nothing phone is a phone that's different and quirky - different 😊 yet utilitarian and functional. Apparently the design was based on the iPhone to help attract iPhone users to android whilst maintaining the iPhone aesthetic.( Another quirk)😊

you got the price wrong. it’s a lot more expensive and will probably change your views if you knew the correct price.
PS reviewers were advised not to do detailed reviews of the camera. (because they know u wont buy this shit 😂 if they did review it) big deal breaker for me. it’s oneplus all over again 😂
