I play in windy conditions most of the time, so I alter the tee height and ball position in my stance to deal with the wind. I use wooden tees, so if the wind is helping and I want to get the ball up, I tee the ball high with about half the ball above the club and move the ball forward a bit to uppercut the ball and get it flying with the wind. If the wind is hurting, I go for a low fairway finder scuttle ball, push the tee farther into the ground, tee it a bit lower so the ball is in the middle of the driver face, move the ball back in my stance a bit and hit a stinger shot that will roll out and stay out of trouble. Great video Dan, thanks to Lee for doing the testing.
The last session I did with you Dan, if you remember, I was having no problems hitting up and went from pink DOWN to white. My strike quality has dramatically improved, along with my distance with no downside. It’s fascinating to see the differences between tees.
Fascinating stuff yet again Dan. Been using pink castles for years now and much like Lee I reckon with a slighter higher tee I'll get some more distance. Brilliant
I switched a couple weeks ago to 3.25 inch tees because I read somewhere that half the ball should be above the crown of the driver. Haven't seen the performance jump Lee did, but I get better contact now than I ever did with a smaller tee. Thanks for the data to back it up!
Plenty of players like to hit a lower tee to assist a fade and find the fairway. Lee swings fast enough to hit a fairway off the deck - but he doesn’t adjust. He should be able to hit it off the blue tee with ease - just a 250 yard cut.
Dan actually tried this out yesterday. Always played the pink castle tees. Changed to the yellow PTS tees, teeing it a little higher. And had one of my best driving days in a long time. Hit it straighter and longer. Will be keeping this going moving forward. On the back of it, just been cut to single figures for the first time. 9.4 🙌
I interchange between orange and pink. Straight/fade I use orange, draw off the tee in use pink as orange was coming off the top off the club. Not quite making 300yd carry though... 😅 Nicely demonstrated Dan/Lee. 👍🏻
Good video, an orange tee scares me. A really important point about wooden tees, personally I think we should all transition away from plastic tees. Now starting to see wooden castle tees. For drivers on online golf websites.
Fun to see Lee hitting the orange tee. He looked a little shanken. Like he was thinking “All these years and I have been using the wrong tee. Let me get out on the course!”
I’ve just changed from pink to orange this year. With the soft ground and grassy tees on a typical British tee it can be about the same height as a white tee on a practice mat. You can always push the orange down a bit more if you want it slightly lower. I would love to see a video on the perfect castle tee hights for fairway woods, hybrids and irons.
Brilliant video Dan! I chop and change between Pink and Orange during the round depending on the shape I want (tend to hit a little fade with the pink and draw with orange) for each hole.
Spooky! I literally changed from the pink tee to the orange on my last round and it made a massive difference to the ball flight, much straighter and longer.
Great informative content. If Lee he needs between pink n orange cut a pencil or bit of dowelling to size and hold against a wooden as you push into ground or use to mark the tee.
Very interesting video thank you - it seems counterintuitive to tee it high into the wind which is what I would do! Nice to see Lee does own some more muted golf shirts and still hits the ball well!
Very good video something I have been thinking about like Lee I use pink castle tees am hitting the face Healy or high hope the pros shop doesn’t sell out orange tees!
Great info Dan, During my round today I will be trying to raise my normal tee height to @ 50 mil, I'm usually teed up around 35-40 depending on the shot shape I need but if I just need a straight flight and distance this is something I am definitely going to experiment with this. :)
Should see my driver tee height......70 mm but am using a driver with a super deep face. Also had to experiment until finally settled on the best fit Good vid Dan, keep up the great work
An idea for Lee. When he tees his ball up on an orange tee, put a line on his ball where the top of the club face is. Then when he tees it up using a normal wooden tee he just needs to make sure the line on the ball is level with the top of the driver. I hope that makes sense, it does in my head! 👍
Sorry to bombard you with replies, Dan old chum, but another thing. Going back a few years I did use orange tees and I was hitting a draw sometimes but more honestly I was fighting a hook. I felt that the higher tee was encouraging me to come from the inside too much (trackman confirmed when I eventually went for a lesson). I suppose that is about me reacting to the tee height. I’ve been driving quite well at pink tee height and slightly higher so the question is (and I suppose I know the answer): Do I try not to react to the higher, orange tee?
Gave it a go as I previously mentioned...a few things happened, firstly I hit more fairways than I’ve done in previous rounds (not been at my club for long) secondly I hit it further than I normally do by a good 20/30 yards ,consequently I had my best stableford score ,snagged a couple of birdies (back to back) and played the whole round with the same ball!!! Got a comp off the whites tomorrow so let’s see if it continues 🙏
I use long wooden tees so i can set the height that works best for the club i'm using - with my driver i tend to lean the tee slightly forward too - for some reason it just gives me a tiny extra bit of confidence that the ball will hit the trajectory i want.
A question. A couple of my higher handicap mates use white tees. Would I be correct in thinking their angle of attack is not as upward as Lee’s? With a poor AOA surely an orange tee could be a disaster?
Tee it high to let it fly - lately I have been teeing high and wow getting longer drives for sure. Weird, until last year I was a low tee guy, then new driver and got on with higher tees.
Dan Hendriksen Golf on this subject of tee height how much difference would there be with the numbers if the lofts were different on the drivers. Say lee’s driver is a 10.5 tee’d up on an orange tee, how much difference if he was using a 12 degree drive. Would love to see the results.
I moved from pink to orange and gained 20 yards in carry. When I had my new driver fitted they said I should play off the pink tees. I am using the bamboo tees now equivalent to the pink tees height. I get good distance from my new driver but wondering if I would get more now from the orange tee??;
Need to use wooden tees then you can adjust heights for different situations. Orange tee was spinning very low so at least you can adjust a wooden tee in between pink/orange
Been using orange tees for a while to try and hit up on it more. If I switch to pink, it just feels so low but useful if I want to try and fade the ball.
Really interesting... I'm going to raise mine up a fraction, I tee up at 44mm at the moment, having changed form a Purple one (39mm I think).. I still hit low'ish on the face though, so hope that might raise it up a bit.. thanks,
My playing partner from todays comp. He ran out of pink tees (who takes 1 tee along for 18 holes?) on the 10th and had to finish with my orange ones. I tried to tell him about RUclips but I lost him at that point ;-)
I always tee it high to get those high toe bombs. Blue Pride wooden tees are what you need Lee, I am surprised nobody has mentioned this to you before given you have said many times you get too much spin with the driver. Next change the loft on your driver to tune it even more.
I use wooden tees when we’re off the grass tee boxes but when we have to use the mats I find I have to use the pink plastic ones as the rubber bungs stick up too much or I can’t get the wooden ones in to the right height
The lower tees are a trade-off for Lee. Less distance, but less chance of another skymark on top of that Mavrik!!! Apologies to Lee, confusing him with “Mark the Mid-Handicapper” from James Robinson’s RUclips channel. 😫 I've been teeing the ball higher for the last 2 months, but still hitting it on a lower trajectory. Since I have a tendency to make the odd "decending" Angle-of-Attack swing, very nervous about teeing it even higher and having to buff out a skymark after every round.
I did this around a month ago after a lesson when we found I was hitting it low on the face, my performance average has gone up by 20+ yards and i have on average a handful of bomb drives that are 30+ yards further each round - I aint ever going back to pink tees. Only disappointment now is you have let the cat out of the bag, hopefully none of my playing partners will see this😂
It looked like Lee changed his body shape when he went white tee then blue tee. Result, he was hitting down on it, imo. I’ve watched twice, and it looks more obvious.
what a cracking tip. ive been out today and tried 'teeing up' on my driver, and the results were surprisingly impressive. keep these coming Dan!
Wow !! I use pink and I'm rubbish with driver. I will definitely give orange a whirl. Excellent again Dan 👍
Really enjoyed the vlog dan, found it very informative and gave me something to ponder on👍

Liking the new introduction graphics

Fascinating test! I imagine 1500 spin would make accuracy tricky, but 300 yds carry is amazing! Get up, Lee!! :)
Fascinating video Dan , much to be taken from this and the driving range beckons 😉🏌️♂️⛳️🍻
Another great video, interesting break down and we’ll worth exploring
Excellent vid and really made me think. I will be experimenting tomorrow.

Great Vlog Dan it’s something that I have been wondering about .👍👍
Very interesting test and some great results - will be checking my heights right now!

Excellent logo colour switch Dan! Looks sharp!

Sorry, I meant the pink tee can be the same hight.
Great video, very informative and what I have been looking for!
The "4 Yards More" blue tees are middle height between orange and pink castle tees.
Brilliant video Dan! I chop and change between Pink and Orange during the round depending on the shape I want (tend to hit a little fade with the pink and draw with orange) for each hole.
very interesting that . ive gone from an orange tee to a pink , might try going back to a orange
Dan great video great information and good food for thought
Agree with you both - the Goldilocks tee for me is a wooden tee at a height between pink and orange!
I just got a FGX putter ad before this video. They need to get Lester in their advert.
Lee that is by far the best I have seen you swing the club take that to the course and your winning your matches for sure 🏌️♂️💪
Easy when there are no trees mate 😂😂 but thank you. Still a work in progress
@@LWG Have you stuck with the orange tees? Is it helping? I've always been a pink castler too.
Carl Incledon yeah sure have and hitting bombs, in amongst some crap still 😂
@@LWG I'll give it a bash when my new driver turns up. Cracking editing on the videos, btw. Cheers.
Carl Incledon no harm in trying. Thanks Carl appreciate that.
Will expect orange shirts on the course now Lee. Bombs away!!
Such a great topic. Very interesting.
Rock solid advice, things to test on the range tomorrow. Thx 👍
Can't see the results on the ipad, perhaps the data could be displayed on a large screen?
This is the first time Lee isn’t gobby! Can’t watch a Vlog with him in it. It’s painful. Gutted because I love the rest of the stuff Dan does
Very interesting video thank you - it seems counterintuitive to tee it high into the wind which is what I would do! Nice to see Lee does own some more muted golf shirts and still hits the ball well!

Bizarre been thinking over the last couple of days about changing t height gonna have to give it a go now
Should see my driver tee height......70 mm but am using a driver with a super deep face.
Also had to experiment until finally settled on the best fit
Good vid Dan, keep up the great work

Got a 100 pink tees for sale, looking for a part exchange 😂😂😂 Great tip, off to try this out keep them coming Dan 👍
This was amazing - I’ve gone from orange to pink - now I’m a better golfer perhaps I should switch back - something else to worry about 😂
Hope you fitted Lee for his New Driver, I thought he was hitting it far enough.
Sorry to bombard you with replies, Dan old chum, but another thing.

Great graphics Dan.
What about a test to see the if there are any loses (speed spin etc) compared between the orange tee and a wooden tee. Thanks
I currently use pink tees and my 3 wood goes miles past my driver, maybe it's not just the swing, could it be the tee? Let's find out.
My pro always said that a lower tee promoted more cut spin and the higher more draw spin. I use orange height from his recommendation
giving this a go at the weekend......
Dan - Could Lester and Yourself also do this Test.
What colour tee would you use Dan ? Another great show 👍
Steven Harris pink for standard fairway finders and orange for bombers 💣 👍
A question.
A couple of my higher handicap mates use white tees.
Would I be correct in thinking their angle of attack is not as upward as Lee’s?
With a poor AOA surely an orange tee could be a disaster?
I am going to search your site for these tees using a 3 Wood. What do you think would be suitable for my Ping 400, 3 Wood ?
I have ben using orange tees for years, sometimes if i hit a few bad drives i switch to pink, that usualy helps
Made the change myself last week to Orange - power up confirmed
Tee it high to let it fly - lately I have been teeing high and wow getting longer drives for sure. Weird, until last year I was a low tee guy, then new driver and got on with higher tees.
Lee if you didn’t grab 2 bags of orange tees from the pro shop before you left .......... your crazy 🤪!
I’m curious if you had started from short to long tees. It plays with the eye and mind.
Dan Hendriksen Golf on this subject of tee height how much difference would there be with the numbers if the lofts were different on the drivers. Say lee’s driver is a 10.5 tee’d up on an orange tee, how much difference if he was using a 12 degree drive. Would love to see the results.
I have always used Orange they are great
So does this mean i don't hit up enough? I have no problem hitting driver off the deck.... I can hit off a high tee but lose directional consistency
I just marked all my tees at the 49mm mark with a permanent marker. Worth a try.
I moved from pink to orange and gained 20 yards in carry. When I had my new driver fitted they said I should play off the pink tees. I am using the bamboo tees now equivalent to the pink tees height. I get good distance from my new driver but wondering if I would get more now from the orange tee??;
Need to use wooden tees then you can adjust heights for different situations. Orange tee was spinning very low so at least you can adjust a wooden tee in between pink/orange
I use an orange for my 80 yard worm burners (also are silver ones the same height?)
Into the wind I will tee it low but use a 3 wood most of the time. More club into the green but lower spin for control.
Honestly did not expect those numbers in spin!! 👀🤔
You should do a video using various tees and iron/ hybrid
Been using orange tees for a while to try and hit up on it more. If I switch to pink, it just feels so low but useful if I want to try and fade the ball.
Really interesting... I'm going to raise mine up a fraction, I tee up at 44mm at the moment, having changed form a Purple one (39mm I think).. I still hit low'ish on the face though, so hope that might raise it up a bit.. thanks,
Who else is running out to buy some orange tees? 🙋🏻♂️😂
I was hoping a link would be in the description 😂
definitely trying a higher tee
My playing partner from todays comp. He ran out of pink tees (who takes 1 tee along for 18 holes?) on the 10th and had to finish with my orange ones. I tried to tell him about RUclips but I lost him at that point ;-)
Lars Menken did he gain any distance? Lol
Classic...no golf RUclipsr's channel is complete until you do the obligatory tee height video! ;)
I always tee it high to get those high toe bombs. Blue Pride wooden tees are what you need Lee, I am surprised nobody has mentioned this to you before given you have said many times you get too much spin with the driver. Next change the loft on your driver to tune it even more.
I would like to see get up Dan hit of the various tees.
I use wooden tees when we’re off the grass tee boxes but when we have to use the mats I find I have to use the pink plastic ones as the rubber bungs stick up too much or I can’t get the wooden ones in to the right height
Hasn't Lee lifted his front foot higher previously? Has he changed his swing based on bad results from lifting the front foot too high?
The lower tees are a trade-off for Lee. Less distance, but less chance of another skymark on top of that Mavrik!!!
Apologies to Lee, confusing him with “Mark the Mid-Handicapper” from James Robinson’s RUclips channel. 😫
I've been teeing the ball higher for the last 2 months, but still hitting it on a lower trajectory. Since I have a tendency to make the odd "decending" Angle-of-Attack swing, very nervous about teeing it even higher and having to buff out a skymark after every round.
Noticed you’ve quietened down the left heel there on the takeaway there Lee, looks much more stable 👍
Funnily enough raising my tee height cured my block
I did this around a month ago after a lesson when we found I was hitting it low on the face, my performance average has gone up by 20+ yards and i have on average a handful of bomb drives that are 30+ yards further each round - I aint ever going back to pink tees. Only disappointment now is you have let the cat out of the bag, hopefully none of my playing partners will see this😂
and what about the relationship between the tee position and the tee hight?
How about changing the loft on the driver
Did the change in tee height change Lee's club delivery? More in-to-out or out-to-in? (As per Crossfield's video recently.)
That's so weird, I just watched a year old video with Andy and Pierce about that today. Let' see if their experience matches ;-)
The future is orange.
Actually though, I’m with Lee, I have non-castle tees marked halfway between pink and orange.
Does it work with fairway woods off the tee?
Interesting - would be good to see strokes gained between pink and yellow - more distance Could negate the odd missed fairway
He isn't lifting his left heel as much as normal. Have you made a swing change?
Studio needs a bit of a tidy Dan. Get Lester on it!
I’ll be out playing tomorrow - I’ll let you know 🤩 #49
Thank you - it worked! Tee at 49mm. Towering high bombers and more straight too. 🤩
It looked like Lee changed his body shape when he went white tee then blue tee. Result, he was hitting down on it, imo. I’ve watched twice, and it looks more obvious.
andrew johnston I think just a natural reaction to the situation, I tried to keep him swinging it the same
I am still hitting low on the driver face, with the orange tee.I suspect I have it to far forward ,what do you think guys
I use orange castles
Time for tee
I use a red tee with 3 wood but maybe I need to tee it higher.
Tee it high and let it fly 😁 👍 🇦🇺
And What if you would have Used a 59 m tee
