Fun fact, it's pretty fitting that Luz's first spell was a light spell because her name, Luz, translates to light.
OMFG DOES IT???????? THATS AMAZING I DIDNT KNOW THAT, THATS ADORABLE
Her last name "Noceda" ties into that beautifully meaning "don't yield".
So her name means "light don't yield" ^^
@@WeeLassReacts Yep! "Luz" means light in Spanish-- which is actually her first language it seems, as she does speak it a lot in the show, often just naturally slipping out without thinking about it. You'll probably notice that as you watch the show, moments of her speaking in Spanish. Kinda neat actually to see them fully embrace that. Pretty rare in a Disney property.
OH THE HELL?? I HAVE BEEN RE-WATCHING THE OWL HOUSE AND I DIDN'T KNOW THIS??
@@kikqoWuzHere
Because it's just what her name means in Spanish.
Fun fact: the curse speeds up Eda's aging which is why everyone calls her old. she's actually about 45
OHHHHHHHH I saw the "30 and flirty" cup and assumed she was 30 ;.; but even then.... 45 isnt THAT old!
I was literally coming to say she’s in her midto late 40s 😂😂😂
@@jasminecoupland9019 AND STILL KILLIN' IT! I fucking would... LOL
@@WeeLassReacts She IS damn Foxy🦊 - even my married brother confessed he has a serious Crush on her! 😁
It’s as Luz says.
I love the curse as a metaphor for chronic illness.
Likewise
as someone who lived his entire life with someone chronically ill until recently, i can confirm the parallels
I live with a chronic illness and can't remenber how many times i've watched this episodes and felt Eda's pain and recover. so inspiring
"It sparkles and shimmers, it shines and delights. I must have it for my nest"
The motto of ever loot goblin (read: player) in gaming... ^^
Without spoiling: Alex Hirsch, the creator of Gravity Falls, voices King and Hooty. So yes there are a number of Gravity Falls references sprinkled throughout the series. That said I'm unsure off hand what would and wouldn't be a spoiler at this point so I'd rather not give specific examples
And some "Amphibia" Easter eggs as well...which has a few "Owl House" Easter eggs in return.
Its not spoiler. And i can give two i notice one is when king show various images of demons and one of them very hiden its yes something to do with gravity falls and other exemple its the fist ep on the owl house where have the dipper hat between eda things
He also voices half the GF cast.
I really hope she notices that King has the same voice as ****, you can really hear him during that body swap episode
@@lolzman999 It took me a while, watching The Owl House, to get over how familiar King's voice was. Ha.
By the way a intresting fact is that "Luz" in Spanish means Light which goes with the first spell that she learns in the show.
I found this episode very emotional and meaningful to me. I spent much of my preteen and teen years desperately wishing magic was real and that I could learn magic... much like Luz.
Her actually learning to do magic? A massive wish fulfillment!
YAY LUZ.
I feel you. It's like King gets cuter every episode.
Fun Fact: Snaggleback is the SECOND character in this series to be voiced by Game Grumps' own Arin "Egoraptor" Hanson.
The first one was the eye-eating demon from the pilot
I DIDN'T KNOW THIS!! Love Game Grumps!
I love watching someone experiencing shows that I love for the first time- and I especially love how invested you are already! pausing on frames and theorising, so good-
without spoiling anything, this show has great character progression, almost every character has their own arcs/plotthreads (in different ways of course, not everyone is cursed!) so I really hope you continue to gel with and pay attention to all the different characters, it definitely pays off!
10:41 Boiling rains remember?!
No let her try, it'll be funny!
Hooty has the same humour as me XD
Me and my siblings used to do a similar thing! Turn off the lights, blindfold whoever's it, and then sneak around trying not to make noise (unless we wanted to mess with them). I would always tap the shoulder of the seeker from behind and then skitter away before they coud catch me lol
21:46 Yep thats true, Creator of Gravity Falls Alex Hirsch is the voice actor for both King And Hooty! So essentially he is talking about his own voice here 😂😂
She's definitely Scottish. Dropping the C-bomb at the drop of a hat like it's a comma in Scottish grammar.
It is cunt exactly like a comma :D
@@WeeLassReacts Ahahahaha! A true Scottish lass.
I really Love this episode! It's were the characters really start to bond and the plot starts to kick in. And thanks for the shout out, I'm happy to help.
By the way, yes, you pronounced it right.
Oh Darn! she's gonna have to put Owl House episodes out more frequently! The audacity!
Also I feel like I'm taking someone who loves roller coasters to get on one I've already rode and know is awesome and they're saying "oh I hope it has an exciting drop and lots of twists and turns," and I am internally laughing maniacally cause I know how thrilled she's gonna be.
WHAT AN EXCITING METAPHOR
I watched this episode with my 8-year-old sister a month ago! It was her first time seeing the show, and she had a similar reaction to King... When he was talking about demons she actually said that he was too cute to be a demon. And also said "cute!" literally every time the intro got to the scene where King is in a pile of stuffed animals. She actually said some variation of it most of the time he was on-screen, come to think of it...
7:45 Well Luz is a teen and Eda seems to be in her thirties. When you're over 30 teens think you're basically halfway into the grave.
Yes both King and Hooty are voiced by Alex Hirsch, creator of Gravity Falls. He also voices both Grunkle Stan and Soos! He's got amazing range. Dana Terrace (Owl House creator) actually worked on Gravity Falls, and Alex is a creative consultant for Owl House, so they are sister shows in a way along with a third show Amphibia (The show creator for that one, Matt Braly, also worked on Gravity Falls and it has references to both it and Owl House, Owl House also references Amphibia sometimes as well). Dana and Alex also dated for a while (I think they've split up now but amiably)
Little curiosity: Not only does the curse weakens Eda's magic, but it also takes over her faster if she uses too much of it, that's probably the reason we don't see much of her using magic. Despite this, she is still the most powerful wich on the boiling isles
In case no one has mentioned it, the creators of Owl House and Amphibia (another show you need to watch) both worked on Gravity Falls and the main creator of GF helped on Amphib and Owl. He voices King and Hooty, andctheres a ton of Easter Eggs in the backgrounds. You might also look up Star vs the forces of evil, not connected to these but a great show.
no no no, don't mention Star vs The Force of Evil, it might start well but the plot goes to sh*t, at some point, Marco becomes an adult trapped in the body of a teenager.... DATING A TEENAGER. And the ending is really bad.
14:01
The editing gives this part a little more spark and I love it
Points for genre savy, picking up on Eda being the intruder right away! It's so much fun to see you react for the first time, I hope you manage to stay unspoiled. Lots more cuteness in your future!
that note is 100% a gravity falls reference.
also damn you're good at spotting shit, you always spot hidden background stuff on your first watch through that i don't catch in like a dozen viewings lmao
There's so much I miss too tho! But I'm trying to get better at reading into things :D thanks for the compliment :D
20:40 - Yeah, it's one of the reasons I loved this episode so much. It's a really interesting way to show that some people rely on medication on a day to day basis.
Perfect to watch after a long night-days work. These shows are so fun & you're delightful. 😁
AWWW thank you so much
Why the joke " I'd say; 'well atleast you're attractive!' but... Well..." When your literally the cutest thing I've ever seen.... Next to king, of course.
🥺😳
@@WeeLassReacts Yes, I agree! You're too adorable for words, I'm just smiling through each video I see of you.
The code word for this episode is 'Apart', leaving the message as "Two Witches Torn Apart-"
it's not been confirmed when season 3 will come out, it's just speculation. i love watching your reactions!!
It was confirmed today that it's coming back October 15th (for the first part of the 3-part finale)
Found your channel recently and been loving it so much binging your older videos. The end story with hide and seek was so touching! I lost my hearing in 1 ear when I was 6, and have always been horrible at Marco Polo cause of the inability to tell direction...Also definitely has caused me to panic while driving and I hear an ambulance and have no idea which direction it is coming from.
I love everything about this reaction! The Scottish accent, the attention to detail, the appreciation of the show's adorableness. Can't wait to watch the rest of the Owl House with you!
Glyphs, the magic of the Ancient Witches, have been introduced. Pay attention to them, and how they're talked about. I've a theory on how Luz is the first to learn them in a very long time.
And you are right about Eda's curse being an analogue for health complications, as Dana Terrace suffers from Chronic Pain (Though, where the chronic pain afflicts her escapes me at the moment). Keep in mind though, it's only an analogue, it is by no means bound to being a stand-in for chronic pain.
And King, sweet little baby King. Everyone loves him.
Never clicked faster, ty for reacting to this AMAZING show!!
THANKS FOR CLICKING AND WATCHING :D
Your reactions to this makes my day so happy your doing the wonderful series I don't even watch Disney but when I heard recommarion for this show I ain't started watching it until last week and know I'm obsessed it's my favorite show ever in a long time
This popped up in my recommended today and now I’ll happily subscribe. You are very expressive and I love your accent.
YEY Fantastic
Never checked a notification faster! Your reaction is so interesting to watch!
You pointing thinking we can see it, is literally me thinking my friend can see what I'm talking about in my room when we're on a VC with cam off 😭
Gardians of Ga'hoole! Yes! I loved those books when I was a kid. Also, i found your channel through gravity falls, but I love these reactions as well!
Regarding the release date you mentioned for Season 3, I think that may be speculative. I’ve seen a couple sources giving that date, but it’s listed as being a “potential” date. This may change at the Disney D23 event that’s going on, but at the time I’m writing this comment, neither Disney nor Dana have given an official date for the release of the season.
Okay!!! Do me a favour and keep me posted! if it changes let me know in the comments :D so I can work out my schedule without googling for spoilers I'd really appreciate the help
@@WeeLassReacts Will do! Always happy to help!
@@hammerofthorn6684 Thank you
@@WeeLassReacts I’m not sure whether to comment this here or on your upcoming video (so I’ll do both), but it was just announced that the first of the Season 3 specials will air on October 15th.
Not googling merch and stuff is even more important for this show than most.
5:00 Fun fact: the creature next to the snaggleback (the one that looks like a lion's head with legs) is Buer, a "real" demon from a XVIth century grimoire, the _Pseudomonarchia Daemonum._ Some other demons from that book are going to pop up in the show as well ^^
Growing up, my cousins and I used to call it "Scooby Doo in the Dark". I never liked playing it that way because I am absolutely terrified of dark rooms.
LMAO, I literally just clicked on the like when you said that. I actually had to pause the video, you're awesome!
You've got such a good eye I never noticed that GF reference, and ive seen GF /and/ watched this multiple times lol
Like your reactions so far. I learned about owl pellets in late elementary school when our science teacher had us pair up to dissect one in order to glue together the bones inside.
Fun fact, Alex Hirsch was trying to do a mickey imitation and Dana Terrace (the creator of toh) wanted it to be Hooty's voive
19:09
Yes. Yes it is.
Also, yes, Owls of Ga'hoole is an extremely pretty movie. Wish I could remember anything about it.
One of my favorite episodes of the series
Very fun reaction, I will subscribe for sure to keep up with your reaction to this series!
yey WELCOME TO THE FAM :D
@@WeeLassReacts Thank you! I will for sure check out both owl house and gravity falls, and then maybe I'll branch out to see what else you have :)
YEAHHHHH GAHOOLE- I love that movie!! And you’re right, owl pellet ahaha
For many people, this episode is where the show really started for them; for one, it's less episodic than the first three-- it had actual lore in it, with Eda's curse and Luz learning her first spell via a whole new method, and of course setting up the question of who cursed her. Secondly, it had bits of dark undertones while still not losing that humor and charm, something that only keeps on happening as the show progresses. Seriously, fair warning, this show isn't afraid to get dark when it wants to. It shares that in common with Gravity Falls.
Also, if you think this is cute... you ain't seen nothing yet. People who've seen the full show probably know what cuteness I'm talking about-- no spoilers please! 😉
I don't know if someone already said that, since its been 9 months. But in Brazil there is a game like what you described, we call it "gato mia" it means "the cat says meow" and that we play in the dark and the person searching has to be blindfolded, and whenever they said that frase the people hiding had to meow back to tell their location
Eda's curse is a great way of showing a chronic condition via metaphor. 10/10 writing.
Also: claims to be an idiot and yet spots that Eda might be the creature right away.
You are actually as adorable as the show you're reacting too lmao
Thank you :3
Ive been loving your reactions. I've been going through a rough time because a family member passed away recently and your content has really helped me get through it.
OH MY GOSH! First off, I'm SOOO SORRY that happened ;.; my thoughts are with you and your fam...
That's how this channel happened, I lost my lil brother in Feb and found solace in some RUclipsrs, then decided it was time to try my hand at reaction since thats what I was enjoying! I'm glad I could help someone the same way other channels helped me
@@WeeLassReacts oh im so sorry for both your losses 😭😭
@@WeeLassReacts I'm so sorry for your loss as well! You're doing an amazing job and I can't wait for more!
@@khadijah5195 thank you very much she was my aunt who introduced my mom to my dad so if it wasn't for her I wouldn't be here... It hurts but I'm healing.

It is speculated that King didn't "miss" the pattern in the circle, but rather, due to his line you cut out when editing, could not see it. Not until Luz drew it on the leaf. Which might imply that only Luz was able to see it on the screen. What exactly that entails is a whole different question, but it is a theory that exists.
Pal, you are in for one hell of a ride.
Hooty also makes a reference to Ga'Hoole later. I missed it the first time I watched and noticed it on a second pass.
Omfg if I miss it point it out to me when it happens!!!
alex hirsch did many voices, he did king and hooty as well, i have seen the owls of Gahool very well made animated movie, highly recomended
I have to agree that it's way too easy to find spoilers. I've gotten Amphibia spoilers without looking up anything related to it just because it has a common audience with The Owl House and Gravity Falls.
Apparently Alex came up with the hooty voice by goofing off while trying a Mickey Mouse voice
Fun Fact: Though it's purely for the show creators of Owl House and Gravity Falls, Eda and Grunkle Stan were 'canonically' married. It was a crazy day in Las Vegas...
PS: The creator of Gravity Falls (Alex Hirsch) voices Grunkle Stan, Old Man McGucket, Soos, (a to be named villain), and KING & Hooty!
12:00 We used to do that with vodka in Sweden.
Does she have a PO box? Guys, SEND THIS WOMAN MERCH! Nothing spoiling, but like King plushies and stuff! She can't buy it herself yet, so let's send her some. If you can, obviously.
Hey there is a Grell (monster from Dungeons and Dragons) on the demon board in the bottom right, didn't notice that until now.
OH good spot :o
This is already such a great episode, but the last episode just makes it all the more precious.
While watching this series I kept saying Weh when King would say it. lol
Hooty and king are, in fact, both voiced by Alex Hirsch, who created Gravity Falls and also voiced a bunch of characters in that show. I believe as well that he is dating Dana Terrace, but I´m not sure, don´t quote me on that.
King doing his little baps on Eda is SOOOO CUTE 🥰🥺
Also I use to own Owls of Gahoole. I love that movie 😍
Can't wait to see you reacting on season 2, because it's great!
And you're great, I really like you and your reactions!!
Thank you so much :D
I'm really enjoying your reactions! ^^ I think your my favorite person that reacts to TOH! :D
I’m binge watching ur entire series bc it’s like 8am for me and I’m waiting for someone to come over (in 6-7 hours)
If you are already dying of cuteness I am afraid you won't last long, there is plenty more to come :D
19:15 It's a great movie the scenography is so awesome. The slow motion of owl claws so cool.
I did read the book and after reading the first book I prefer the movie. It may get better in later books. The first book has a distinct lack of Lyze of Kiel who is my favourite character from the movie.
"This is how you look once you've actually fought a battle".
I've discovered you recently, first time I catch one of your videos the day of it's released, love your reactions ^^
I was wondering if you have a schedule or if you upload just whenever ? (both are perfectly good, it's pure curiousity)
this episode was, for me, the one that really make me want more of TOH, episode 1-3 were good, no questions, but this one set up a lots and show what the serie can give
Great question! At the moment I can't commit :( because of work, and my podcast and life obligations! BUT I am trying to do a minimum of 2 videos a week (1 TOH and 1 GF) but some weeks I wanna try for 3
@@WeeLassReacts alright !
well as much as I love your reactions I can't encourage you ebough to go at your own rythme, otherwise you won't have as much fun watching and we won't either ^^
anyway keep the good work !
Another good video!!
Here's a bit more info on series 3:
It will be 3 44-45 minute long specials because DISNEY decided to CANCEL IT! (attacks Disney)
So we're lucky to get season 3 at all. I feel like these episodes can't end the series, so many mysteries from the end of season 2, but let's hope it's written well.
There is actually a reliable source that says the first season 3 special will air October 15th
It better fucking not, I've got Bleach returning in october that I do a podcast for! And I was wanting to start over the garden wall
@@WeeLassReacts we’ll have to wait and see 😈
Side notes, there are several Owl House shorts called 'Owl Pellets' on RUclips.
As a note with Gravity falls, while this show doesn't spoil anything from Gravity Falls, it does make references that make more sense after seeing Gravity Falls, little nods here and there.
Actually it was just announced that Owl House is returning on October 15th! So excited!
Loving your reactions! Commenting for youtube algorithm stuff!
THANK YOU SO MUCH :D
Heads up! You have ONE MONTH to catch up! Season 3 airs NEXT MONTH on October 15th! Chop chop girl! Lol 😆
Liz is fourteen. At that age, anyone past twenty is "old..." ;)
I remember dissecting owl pellets in grade school. Mine had a lot of bones in it.
Absolutely loving your reactions to The Owl House and Gravity Falls. Looking forward to see what you think of both shows down the line!
4:06
Damn that’s harsh… even for a self burn
Nah, it's not all that harsh calling yourself a dummy.
But what do I know? I'm an idiot... 😉
So something you may want to know (not a spoiler for future episodes) is that there's a message in the episode titles if you take the first letter of each one. For example episode 1 = A, 2 = W, 3 = I and this one = T.
2 Things about this episode, that are not spoilers, 1. The reason luz was able to learn the light spell on her phone, is because her phone give off light! 2. You are right! Eda it's not old. The reason she has gray hair, is because of the curse.
I love your voice it sounds so cool
4:05 I think that spoiled like milk... 😅😊
Hell yea I love this show and this youtuber
Love yah too Angie 😁😁🥰
"The Law of Equivalent Exchange?" Was that a FMA(B) reference I just caught? :D
LUV UR REACTIONS
I don't know if anyone has already pointed this out, but if the country you live in has the letter E in it (e.i. America) they spell whisky with the E, but if you live in Canada like I do you spell it without it. This has been Alcohol Facts with the Silver Centurion
This seems to be the episode where they really figured out the tone they wanted to go for and things stay pretty consistent from here on.
Speaking of owl pellets there were three or four RUclips shorts called that which don't spoil anything in the main show, but of course be careful typing that in since we all know how spoiler-y YT reccomendations can be.
