Ride starts at Peterborough platform 3 and finishes on platform 3 at Sleaford. The Pboro to Sleaford line is mainly pre upgrade passing many long gone structures and signalling.
Quality not too bad, video taken from a VHS tape. Footage contains NO commentary or music it is just raw data too good to be deleted!
Really excellent cab ride in the 101. Nice to see an original BR main line speed DMU as opposed to 25mph on preserved railways. This is proper! Lovely to hear the jointed track and see the crossing gates and semaphores. Well done for including the closed stations at Peakirk, Deeping and Littleworth. Waiting for the signal and gates at Park Road crossing was very unusual. I enjoyed every moment of this video. Thanks so much for sharing with us.
Nice to see. Remember riding these regularly from Spalding to Peterborough
Note the 140mph sign at 2:23. Line still has the flashing green signals which made it possible, but the line speed is now back to a measly 125.
I’m guessing it wasn’t normal to have to wait for the crossing gates at Spalding North!
