I just realised how much baggage, trauma I have carried in my life, her story hit me and I have never cried like this. Like her, I am the dark child in my family n boys would call me miss mboch. You visit family and the talk of how pretty my sis is,she is very light...I hated myself for this. I met my biological father at the age of 30and he said, you are so beautiful, and that was an epic moment for me. Colorism is real.

First of all I’m so sorry for what happened to your baby & your painful journey starting from childhood,You are absolutely gorgeous!! I have a beautiful young daughter who came to me with similar concerns about her complexion, she told me that she wanted to look like me,it crashed me, I gave her a $100 💵note & told her to crumble it & throw it on the ground & step on it, then told her to throw it in the garbage with much resistance she did it,I asked her why she resisted, she said it’s coz it’s a lot of money & it’s not trash,I told her that’s exactly how we see her regardless of how others think or see her I told her to think & see herself as very valuable, the world is harsh but she has to always see herself not as trash or stepped on but see herself as intelligent, brave, beautiful & she will be a woman of great value to many that will cross her path, for our God does not see the race, gender, color etc, she has since been very positive about herself,Christine it’s going to get better & better, keep staying positive & keeping sweet!!

I lost mini five years ago. 30th may this year marked 5 years. It’s a pain that will never go away. My baby was 16 years old when he passed on. Friends and family members moved on. In fact I lost all friends and I am on my own now. Sometimes I cry myself to sleep. Worst is he drowned.. my baby drowned even though he was a life saver himself. I've been told to shower (enda ukaoge) so many times that I used to shower with jik for the longest time ever..I'm not sure if I'll survive the cuncer that is awaiting me in the future😵😑😑.. Am going to work on my daughter's self esteem no matter what. She will always know is pretty from a young age. Growing up being dark skinned people always assume you will never have a good life. My case was worse because my mum was not the same skin tone. I just think the main negative outcome on my end is that I also became mean with my personal space. The moment I realized this is my life and am always going to be dark in this life I started showering myself with a lot of love and worked on my self esteem..The moment I walked into a classroom I always told myself Achieng you are the best. I walk into an interview and tell myself am the best and it has worked for me. The funny thing is once you start doing well those who discriminated against you want to be associated with you.

During her in patient period, probably only one of sources of the pain was being addressed, the loss of the child. However, due to many other underlying sources of pain, not even the loss of the child was addressed. This girl is still in so much pain she even loses her train if thoughts constantly. Baby Isaiah was too good for this world and I believe he is watching over you Muthoni. Take heart, cry as much as you need to, healing takes time. I still moan my mom 20+ years later and my dear brother Fred 8yrs down the line. It's never easy. But we have a higher power who gives the strength to push on.

My dear Chris, you're a good mother and this reminds me of my niece, in 2020, she was only two days old, she had fever, she was burning up and because the following day was her clinic day,my sister and her husband assumed that let's wait until tomorrow to tell the doctor about it, I left to my house and at around 10 pm,I was restless,I called them and asked how is the baby, they said she's still the same,I spoke to my friend in the US and he advised me to call them and take the baby to hospital,I looked at the time it was 12pm,I assumed it's almost morning, I fell asleep at around 3am,I had a phone call,it was my sister and I knew all is not well, rushing to hospital where they were,I found the baby lifeless, lying there and he was still warm, I'm the eldest and we are alone in Mombasa, there's lockdown and all that,I was traumatized more than the mother,I blamed myself alot, but God blessed them with another baby girl last year and it was a relief and total replacement.
