- A Ukrainian mother tells how her 13-year-old son was killed when she and her children tried to flee a village occupied by Russian forces. Inna says that, at first, Russian troops allowed her family to leave and even waved goodbye, but then opened fire at the cars they were traveling in.

As much as it turns me inside out to watch these things, I'm so grateful that we live in a time where these things are readily documented. Tyrants will not be able to bury the truth like they did in the past. The victims deserve justice.
Except there will those delusional people who will claim that it’s been faked or that it was Ukrainian soldiers dressed as Russians that fired on the civilians. And then when that doesn’t work, those same nutcases will try to deflect by bringing out those feeble whataboutisms and the US and NATO.

I used to just be angry with Putin for starting this, not the Russian people, but these are ordinary young men committing these atrocities. Is this what Russia is? It’s just horrifying. Rubbish, Chomsky says if the rule of law was applied to US presidents every one of them is guilty of crimes against humanity - much of it documented by video drone strikes, unnecessary wars, etc. No justice no jail no nothing for the victims- only losers of conflicts sometimes get prosecuted - never the winners who are usually the worst of perpetrators
What does that mean, deserve justice? The only true justice is to go back in time and save the child. But that cannot be done. Justice, as primitive human minds understand it, is simply vengeance. But that doesn't make a wrong just, it only causes more injustice. As much resentment as we may feel towards those who wronged us, the reason they are the way they are is their environment. Instead of vengeance, which is acting on our emotions, in order to get satisfaction (which we never end up getting from vengeance), we ought to do only what is necessary to protect ourselves and our society from such people, while doing the least wrong towards the perpetrator. And that is, humane prison.

I just barely can imagine how she feels. I worry about my child as well. He is „imprisoned“ in Donetsk! Since 2years I have no chance to see him by person. No visa for hostile people! As a Latvian I am sure that Ukrainians have only one choice - victory. Latvians gave up freedom without fight in 1940 and more than 60000 people of our small nation were sent to Sibiria to work in very hard conditions. Many died on the way there. Many never returned. Civilinan sufferings in Ukraine are heartbreaking but giving up would only cause more sufferings.. Like Ukrainians already had great famine because of USSR where more than 3, 5 million people died of starvation. My Ukrainian granny was there at a time and said that malunarished people were dying on the street.. She herself witnessed that.

This mother's pain and grief breaks my heart. Every time I see what's happening in Ukraine my heart crushes. I wish mothers didn't have to go through this. I wish our leaders can realize how special lives are. I lost my child 9 years ago and it's the worst pain one can go through. To see this done intentionally done crushes me everyday.
