  • Vyacheslav Yalov's mother, Maryna, 37, was killed in the Donbas by Russian shelling as they walked home together. He has now been evacuated to western Ukraine with his two younger brothers and two younger sisters, whom he plans to bring up alone.

    I am an 18 year old guy and I can't stop crying after watching him. I cannot even imagine what he's going through 😞. Being 18 year old all alone and raising 4 sibling is unimaginable . May his Mother REST IN PEACE.

    Oh Honey, Your Mom must have been something else to raise an incredible son like you. I guarantee that all she cared about when she died was that you were unharmed.     His mother did a superlative job, she raised a wonderful son. He will be there for his siblings, but I hope that someone is there for him too. He deserves to pursue his dream of studying medicine. He will also need financial help with four children to feed and clothe. God bless them all.

    the thing about this kid is it sounds like he grew up without a father. which is why him stepping up and handling this situation so strongly is incredible. he might not know the influence of one, but he knows how to become a father. that’s a man.

    He's magnificent. I want them all to be safe. He's still a kid himself and that tried is unbearable. I hope they all stay safe and what ever kind of person his mom was, I know she'd be proud. What happened to her was unjust.

    Incredible man. Only really entering adulthood, lost his mother and taking on the responsibilities of looking after his brothers and sisters. couldn't imagine myself in his shoes. I hope he gets the support he needs to ensure he follows his dream and his family is provided what they need. His mother would be proud.

      My eldest uncle was his age 18-19 when my grandfather, a state govt doctor died in his late 30s leaving behind 9 kids and a wife...my grandmother was uneducated...married very young at 17 in those olden times in a very conservative society and culture in a country in Asia. So, my eldest uncle gave up his dreams and dropped out of college where he just got admitted for a physics major by his dad a few months ago before his death. He worked multiple jobs to help his mother bring up his siblings cuz the govt pension my grandmother used to get since my grandfather was govt employee wasn't enough to feed a hugh family...My father was in 7th grade when his dad passed away

      Those war mongers didn't win, the amazing mother said she's OK too because she doesn't want to let them win. He will feel thankful for this later as I lost a parent at 16, not in as much devastating circumstances where I seen them actually die in a brutal way of course but losing a parent at a young age can strengthen and mature the human mind so much in later life, you're more emotionally advanced than most people around you with a tougher skin. I mean it depends on individual but I have faith this kid will do fine, it's good to see him get it all out of his system

But for him he’s not thinking of himself. He’s turned into a mother and a father. Thinking about his children. The responsibility naturally just falls on his shoulder being the eldest. Understanding everything from planning on where to have a funeral. And all the money situation. He will have that picture playing in his mind when it’s late at night and missing his mom but trying to sleep. It will probably hit his younger siblings when they’re older. Not that they aren’t grieving now though. I just wanna hug all of them

      In Afghanistan children who are only 8 or even 5 have to take care of their siblings alone. My heart breaks for all those innocents suffering. In Ukraine, Afghanistan, Palestine, Iraq, everyone. Innocents deserve the world because they never asked to lose their family, they just wanted to live their life is it too much to ask? To stop fighting that’s too much to ask? These developed countries pride themselves on being “modern” whilst Destroying every other modern country and turning it into a “developing and uncivilized” country.       I could imagine how he will have to fend for himself and his siblings their father probably is at front now, and probably also not coming back. I cried when he stated, what his sister asked. Does anything could be done so mom would be saved. Furthermore, there is existing risk since he's 18 his country to call him for arms wherever they are it has be sure that he's protected from something like this to happen, otherwise his siblings are left at the hands of the merciless foster system.

    My heart goes out to those kids. The poor 18 year old now has to take care of all those kids on his own and life is tough and expensive. I wish there was some way we could help them. I have 4 kids and I'm married and life for me is tough sometimes, I can't imagine what he's going through so sad.

    As a Romanian , not a day passes by without checking the news and thinking about my neighbors in Ukraine. I can not pretend to fully understand their pain and suffering, I can only imagine.
    I've hoped that there could be negotiations and this to be settled in a diplomatic way , but that hope is gone now. Russia has always been a threat to neighboring countries and now everyone can see how they think and act. My heart is with the Ukrainian people, Slava Ukraini !💙💛

    I just turned 23 like 2 weeks ago and just finished school and I basically just started my life and I’m panicking and stressed I can’t imagine what a 18 year old who has to take care of 4 siblings in the middle of a war is going thru that’s one strong kid hopefully him and his siblings will be okay

    He is a incredible young man who is a Hero, I hope that he gets help so he can live a life as well as his siblings. I was the main carer for my mum who had dementia and was also disabled. I also looked after my dad as his main carer who had cancer plus many other medical issues, I couldn't get enough sleep as I had to get up immediately if one of my parents needed me, my life was on hold. My beloved mum died in 2017 and my beloved dad died in 2019. I have a lot of sympathy and understanding how he has put his siblings first and look after them and become there responsible adult and father figure. He is amazing and what he had to go through in Ukraine and for his beloved mum to die in his arms is so heartbreaking, it is a scar he will live with even if he gets help, that feeling will be with him for the rest of his life. I am there son so it was my job to look after them not only in their old age, plus the medical issues that they suffered from. It was my honour and my privilege to look after my beloved parents who were my world. They were here for me when I was young so it was my job to be there for them.

      I'm 25 and still feel like a 6 years old. Early this year my parents traveled and I took care of my 2 younger brothers for 3 months. I almost went crazy, it was exhausting, cooking, taking them to school, we have maids to clean and wash our clothes, but still, I wanted to run 🏃🏾‍♀️ away. It makes me not want to have babies, that's alot of work and stress.

      @@tinydust6835 My bad, I was thinking of an anecdotal example of another 18 year old I had corresponded with in the US who seemingly liked to use his age as an excuse for his extremely grating child like behavior. He also insisted that many other kids his age were actually worse than him. I understand that he only hung around the bottom of the barrel and most 18 year olds or even younger have brains which are far more developed. My thinking is that if you’re old enough to be conscripted or enlist, you’re old enough to not use that as an excuse.

      @@revolutionaryhealing9992 It doesn't help that even if you're 18 in the U.S., you're still treated like a child, yet by legal standards, you're an adult. 18 year olds can't even indulge in adult pleasures like drinking or gambling, yet they're still expected to step up and fight for their country. But even by Western standards, Ukranians had to grow up too fast to deal with the deadly situation in their country. Just a few months ago, those Ukranian kids were just like us, goofing off and enjoying their youth. Now they have to fight for their country when they barely have had a taste of adulthood.

    Heartbreaking 💔. For him to be with his mum and witness the explosion. He gave first aid. I'm sure it must've been hard enough to leave her to get help, then coming back, to find she had passed 😢. God wrap your arms around this young family, keep them safe from further harm.     What a remarkable young man. His own childhood is over. Yet his aim in life is to make sure that his siblings childhood are great. As he said, I'm sure his Mother is with them. And I'm sure that she would be so proud. Glory to Ukraine 🇺🇦. From the UK 🇬🇧

    People don't immediately get that kind of "maturity" necesary for adult life as soon as they become 18. Most people still feel like kids for at least few years till 26 or so when they try to figure many things out. He still looks like a kid in my eyes, hope he can get through this.

    I grew without a father and a gambling mother, my sister was just so young when she took the responsibility of raising all 6 of us siblings by herself. Nothing in this world could ever pay my debt to her, she sacrificed her young life into becoming a mom of 6 kids. I grew up knowing I don't have a right to ask her for anything, she already did so much.
    watching this is so hard for me

    I’m sobbing. I can’t imagine what he is going through and what he has to do with 4 siblings at such young age. If something like this ever happened to me I wouldn’t know what to do

    Your heart breaks for this 18-year-old who loves his mom & siblings so much that her murder has cast him front & center into taking care of all 5 of them now. God is watching & I pray Vyacheslav will be the best family protector & make Ukraine a fine & amazing Doctor someday as well. Prayers to Maryna's children. Prayers for Ukraine & all her children.
