I love the aesthetic of the 10 second timer bar and the clock at the top because it reminds me of 80's digtal dashboards like in the 88 Corvette, or the 84 300ZX. I'm a huge fan of that design language. That said, I agree about using the space for something more useful.
Thanks for the test! Great YT channel. I find the top indicators very useful. There are 10 seconds at the top, 1 minute below and 10 minutes in the circle. Without changing any function, I can make some measurements. The design is great, I bought it and it will be added to the 1200 Royale collection. The 800h remains my favorite with no gimmicks. LG from Germany
I think Casio put in those "useless" displays to bring back the retro vibes of their earlier watches from the 80s and 90s. They are there just for the aesthetics. I guess only fanboys like myself welcome the nostalgia 😅
I love it. I feel like I got a retro gaming health/power gauge on my wrist. Also, the different timers are amazing. Helps with my workout immensely without fumbling for my phone.
Very nice review. I love my Casios! I never thought about the holes being too far apart but that’s valid. The good thing is, they weigh so little that I don’t mind them slightly too loose, & like you said, it allows for expansion during the day.
The zebra is one of the few watches that fit an eight and a quarter inch wrist with two holes to spare. This watch is pretty good for the price. I would also get rid of the crap on the top third of the watch and have a full digital display.
Great review. This is not as pleasing to my eye as the Greyman, but in terms of function it does seem to have dethroned it. Although the soldering hack for the Greyman may be easy, I don't have a soldering iron, so I have to say this is superior out of the box. The Casio that I've found myself wearing a lot is the Wave Ceptor version with 50m water resistance. It's less durable than the one you bought and reviewed, but I find that it just suits me to a tea. However, I don't do all the hard yakka that you do with your watch on. The GD350 may even be the one that gets the most wrist time, but that's only because I wear it when I sleep and it makes an outstanding alarm clock and doesn't wake any babies. I don't think I'll get this watch, but I think all the points you made are spot on. These reviews are extremely useful.
Thank you for your time watching and commenting. I wore the WS1600 yesterday and it may push the greyman out of the way sooner than I thought it would. The time and date display is very legible...the timers are useful, light is great. Change may be coming sooner than I thought.
If you enjoy this watch, you'll likely love the Timex T5E231. I consider it to be a superior version of this Casio watch. The only drawback is its battery life, which may only last about 3 years compared to Casio, which can last 10 years. It has 5 alarms, countdown timer in 1 second increments, led light that stays on when you press the buttons (very useful for operation in the dark), bigger display, louder sound, more legible illumination.
What we need is a grayman with improved functions. An actal upgrade model but still same general concept Electroluminescent auto light, choice of showing Dual time instead of year together with date on main screen, vibration alarm would be my choices. Whats yours?
Agree that the W800H strap is pretty bad. I have it in 2 colors and immediately replaced the straps: modified NATO on one and a fabric velcro on the other. I bought the blue version of the WS1600H, and it looks great. The blue is more a medium shade, lighter than other blue Casios. Surprisingly, the beeper on the 1600 is much easier to hear than almost any other Casio in my collection (most are dismally weak).
My guess is the complications at the top of the 1600 is used for certain types of divers. ( The strap for example has a wave to extend itself under water compression.) Maybe the ten seconds increments are meant to time their dive duration without reading numbers? Maybe for underwater dive without oxygen supply?
I feel you when you said they should have removed that shitty ticking animation , that is the only reason what is stopping me from buying the Zebra, otherwise the font of the time and date just looks good and easy to read at a glance. Since it has world time, I would have wished for the list of all the cities above with date time which can be iterated by a button while keeping the home time and the date below rather than ticking animation, I hope they listen
One mode is predetermined times for refereeing commonly played sporting events/games. The other timer mode is completely customizable AND has the option of setting 9 timers...or just one while the others remain inactive (you choose how many are set and used in chronological order regardless of the timer number).
Temperature can constrict or expand blood vessel, activity can raise or lower blood pressure. Both of these can can change the circumference of your wrist.
Casio w 736h Vs ws 1600h, which one should I go for 😬,my head is spinning in indecisiveness, I like both watches but for now I can only get one, like the cool vibration features of w736h and this ws 1600h 1av one has one of the classiest look I've ever seen. already got (skmei 1496 aka w218h copy, skmei 1628 aka 5600 model copy) I'll be sitting at my desk all day doing works n stuff.
The "Big Sky" (W736) checks so many boxes with the off the wrist being the biggest (and only negative). The Big Sky has all the features one would need and no extras/redundancies. The WS1600 is a great watch with TONS of features. I think the STW feature is too specific for certain sports refereeing. It goes overboard on the timers (Two different types). I would go with something different since you already have smaller sized watches, maybe a larger one that looks more like a G-Shock.
The greyman...one day it's the best watch in the world, the next I can't stand it. I wish it was wider; it's too squarish and tall making its overall dimensions weird. But I haven't seen another Casio with a display I like more.
I agree on the dimensions. I did a ‘chunky factor’ video (link below) analyzing the dimensions (diameter / height = C.F) and the Greyman is a chunky monkey…especially for such a compact watch. It’s such a great value with all the features. Did you hack in the timer function? ruclips.net/video/hIYKDCn_0_0/видео.htmlsi=CTIrQk9k9MdT3ZR1

You make a great point...because I LOVE the 300zx (one of the greatest compact sport cars of the late 80s). I complete relate to what you've shared.
Jeah, that‘s it. The r.p.m Counter of an Honda S2000 looks similar too.

'I use the 24hrs.'
Ah, a man of culture.
Thanks for watching
Thanks for the review. I like the look of this watch and have it on my list. Your comments are helpful in making my decision.
You're welcome and thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend!

True.
I don't like the lazy implementation, in old models that bar would be 30 or 60 segments to count a whole minute just in that part and not 10 sec.
I love it. I feel like I got a retro gaming health/power gauge on my wrist. Also, the different timers are amazing. Helps with my workout immensely without fumbling for my phone.
It helps me with waiting. I guess it makes time feel like it's passing more quickly.
I love the color scheme on the ws1600, the black, grey, red accents. Looks super retro
100% agree.
It does have a nice rugged style 👍
Yes it does! I it's the best of the three (AE1200, AE1300 and WS1600)
Great review. I can confirm this module fits cases like the SKX
Didn't know that was a thing, putting an WS1600 module in an SKX case. I'd like to see that done somewhere. Take Care!

100%...the lightweight makes the looseness not much of an issue.

here in southeast asia, you can buy casio strap replacement for around US$4.28. so you can replace the strap if you dont like the style.

Just picked it up. I call it the rally watch because the upper portion reminds me of a retro digital dash. Similar to the s2000 cluster
That’s a great point…it does have a rally display vibe to it.
Another great review 👍
I agree, this display on this watch is better than the Royale, but I feel like the Royale is weird/cool and I enjoy that.
The Royale has that...and it's a legend for those reasons. Casio has many solid offerings and has done very well in trying new, innovative things.
This was helpful. I can’t find a strap for my CASIO W-735. My W-735 has the useless display action at the top also.
Thanks for watching.

NATOs are a great option for the Grey Man W800.
Brilliant reviews 🎉
Thank you. Have a great weekend!
Nice detailed review mate.. the ws1600h is much better dial than royal. W800h is still my fav.
Totally agree
I miss the classic stopwatch on the Zebra.
Agreed. A little too many unique applications for those not refereeing.

Interesting take on the complication.
Great lightweight Watch. Now i have got repetitive hourly and custom alert for my purpose. For just 39 EUR in Europe.
It’s the perfect watch for multiple alerts. Thanks for watching.
I enjoy the rendering of the number seven. Hard to tell a one from a seven on some digitals.
Great observation, hadn't noticed it. Have a great weekend.

Well said.
They should just replace the ticker top part with a solar panel as an homage to some cool old style casios theyve never reisued (i dont think).
Excellent idea.
Great video. 1600 seems to be better, I still prefer 800H
I’m with you…I sold the 1600. Take care!
Nice review
Thanks for watching.
I own it, I like It, I love it!
It's a keeper. I love the timer functions.
@@Realidealgear yeah, but it's also very stylish!
I agree.
I like @chairpants idea of making the seemingly useless ticker-tape display into solar panels. What a combo that would be.
is countdown timer set to specific times? is there really no adjustment?

How does our wrists size changes throughout the day, would you please explain? Thank you
Temperature can constrict or expand blood vessel, activity can raise or lower blood pressure. Both of these can can change the circumference of your wrist.
Sweat too. It feels tighter when wet and looser when dry.
Nice bible in the background
It's important to me. Thanks for watching
@@Realidealgear of course!
More like AE 1300❤
Absolutely
Okay now they put something on top , the tide, fish, moon on ws1700
That info is helpful on a Casio. I may need to review this model (WS1700). Thanks for sharing! Have a great week.
I know about the changing wrist size issue.
?
@@Realidealgear The reviewer mentioned that the wrist expands and contracts throughout the day or something of that nature. That happens to me also.

Are you with the agency?
@@Realidealgear yes, Federal Agency of Internet Conspiracy Department, bermuda triangla, alaska,Chechnya, earth
large jurisdiction. Is a knighthood involved by chance?
Can you set the upper display to "pause" not to show seconds? It seems distracting.
I don’t see a way to do that. Sorry.

İ really like this watch offers tons but i ve 5,9 inch 15 cm wrist is that can fit me ?
The strap will certainly fit. However, the case will be proportionally large on the wrist.
cool❤❤
Thanks for watching.
Nice Lamy pen there btw 😁 I have a couple of those too.
The best! I've now gone down the rabbit hole of refilling my own ink cartridges and the ink is WAY better.
@@Realidealgear Great idea!
