    Lock Stitch:
    The stitch which is formed by two sets of sewing thread (needle thread and bobbin thread) is called lock stitch. Back tacking is needed here as security at the starting and finishing side of stitch.
    Chain Stitch:
    The stitch which is formed by two or more sets of sewing thread (needle thread and looper thread) is called chain stitch. Here, threads are bound together by interlacing and looping. It should be noted here that, chain stitch strength is greater than lock stitch and back tacking is not needed at finishing side of stitch as security. Video Link

      I was hoping to find a video of how a two thread chain stitch is formed, but the animation which begins at 1:05 demonstrates a chain formed from only 1 thread. In slow motion, all the thread forming this chain stitch comes from above, through the needle. Confirming this, is the fact that the looper in the animation is not carrying its own thread. It would be nice to see an animation of a two thread chain stitch. Thanks.

    0:44 You reversed the mask of the blur filter so that the part in question got blurred and the surroundings stayed sharp...

    This is very much incorrect, a chain stitch is formed with one thread

    • @Drottninggatan2017
      @Drottninggatan2017 5 лет назад +1

      That is true. The original chain stitch machines use only one thread. And this video is showing a chain stitch being formed with only an upper thread, but then for not reason they show also a lower thread after that.
      So this video is confusing.

    • @cancertarius
      @cancertarius 4 года назад +2

      Maybe because I sew for my job, but this was clear to me. They are not saying there are 2 feeds of threads, only what the upper vs lower threads look like after being sewn.

    • @mototron1000
      @mototron1000 3 года назад +1

      The image at 1:19 has the words "Lower Thread". This is misleading. There is only one thread. BTW, my serger (Juki MO-6816S) has a "Safety Stitch" which is essentially a two-thread chain stitch. The looper is behind the needle on the down stroke and swings around to the front of the needle on the up stroke.
