Thanks so much! I was able to switch out the battery today. I would just add that when removing the air filter connection (not the hose connection that has a hose clamp) you need to push a slot screwdriver into each clip on the sides and the pieces pop apart quite easily.
Job done, saved myself just over $300 going to the dealership plus a 90min round trip. The dealership exaggerated on the labor, I took just over 1hour going very slow and following a long this RUclips vid. The main start battery could easily be done in 30-40mins by a Volvo mechanic and dealership wanted 1.5 hours labor.
Hi the better way to charge a battery is to disconnect it (not remove it) and charge it separately! But if the battery is up of 4 of more years old, sadly the there is no reason to try!the start stop function will never work again!
Out of curiosity. Does anyone know what that little box that his hand is by at minute 3:36 towards the front of the car. It has wires going in and out of it. Thx
Nice video. But what about the battery reset proceedure, that tells the car’s computer or control module that the battery is new. In these newer Volvo's the control module needs to know this information in order to properly charge the battery and control the vehicle electrical system. Is this not the case here?
Hi ! I you use exactly the same battery capacity (Ah) like is installed in the vehicle, than is not necessary to reset or programming the new installation! The BMS is not so smart like we think…. But if you install a lower or higher capacity battery then is recommended to reset the system! Thank you 😊
Yes! But the battery management just see the current voltage and endurance of the system so it’s not nesessary to program it like a new battery!of course it’s recommended to set it like a new but we try to DIY so it’s work also without programming!
Thank you for the video. Wow some things in the newest generation Volvos are so simple(like changing the cabin filter), but others are soo complicated. Like this battery change. Why so complicated? On the older Volvos you just unscrew few bolts, remove the old battery, install the new one and screw back the bolts. Done! Here it looks like you are rebuilding an engine... But it's nothing compare to rear lights replacement. There you have to disassemble the rear of the car. Volvo engineering it's gone $$$$/€€€€.
Volvo wanted $500 to do this. I would never have been able to do this without this video. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much for your positive feedback 😊
Perfect example “Slow is smooth and smooth is fast”
Thank you for the video very helpful

Спасибо! Но как я понял, сначала надо воздуховод снимать, а потом только начинать раскручивать аккумулятор.
How do you charge the battery while in the car?
And battery start and stop?

Hi! If I understand you correctly I think that was the hood release cable!

@@CARSPARTSTOOLS thank you for clarifying this point. Much appreciated 👍
My pleasure 😊
Hello, you have to code the battery?
Hi! No you don’t need to
@@CARSPARTSTOOLSif you don't then the car would think that the battery isn't new I heard.

the best way and more safety is to disconnect the battery first and charge it separately!no need to remove the battery!
Hello, after replacing the battery, I received an ABS and ESC error, what should I do?
Hello, need update After?
Hallo ! No just use the same capacity battery!
