The seat bottoms are pretty easily removeable. I'm 6' 4" and plan on taking my toddler camping in the 4Runner this fall. We'll stick his car seat up front while we're parked, I'll leave the 60 side of the back seat bottoms home to give more headroom for me, and I'll figure something out for a collapsible platform so my head doesn't fall into the void, and a foam mattress for the two of us.
I think it would be better to sleep with your head at the lift gate, and just have your angles clear the mattress (front seat moved all the way forward). I mean we always fall asleep comfortably with our ankles hanging off of recliners!!
You could definitely fit a few things on one side for sure. A board may be be able to squeeze it down further. Might have to try to figure something out before next summer.
That's not a bad idea at all. Cut it to size and maybe use double sided tape to hold it to the floor - that might be strong enough to hold it.... Definitely on to something with that idea though.
It's about 6 foot long, I'm 6'4 and have to sleep on it at an angle, and yes you can shut the hatch. I'd recommended some bug nets for your side windows so you can roll those down at night - closing everything makes it stuffy.
I sleep on dog beds and i don't even notice the floor difference. 😊 It's so comfy!!!
Hahaha I'll have to keep that in mind for any future purchases!
Which dog bed? Asking for a friend lol

I love a good work around and this is it!

If you make it your bed a little bit smaller you can put all your gear along one side.

I'm thinking some 2" insulation foam board in the lower part could even out that hump.

What length is the mattress 6 foot or 5.4 ? And are you able to shut your hatch?
