@@unbornG4 why would I want a workaround just to use a device that is double the price of a base MacBook Air? Anyway, the iPad is just Netflix and notes in uni. Ok the MacBook I do everything else, from notes to assignments to research to watching twitch and yt, browsing and even some gaming. I bought the M3 Pro because I had an Air and I did not see a way I could last 5-6 years with it, but I wanted a Mac that could last me that long. Plus, I can’t stand 60hz anymore and the Apple pricing for upgrades is… well you know. So by the time I spec up a 15” Air to have 512 and 16 gigs of ssd and ram respectively, while getting the base core upgrade to 10 if I’m not mistaken, well I’m already well over 2k by miles. I live in Italy, which means the markup I get… I get it on every single upgrade, not just on the device itself. An iPad Pro 13” for example is 1600 euros. Now, I won’t go into detail about how iPadOS is nothing like having a full desktop OS, but just for giving an example I recently took an English certification exam and if I didn’t have a MacBook I could not have taken it remotely from home. The iPad was specifically listed, ironically, as an example of non-compatible device for the exam. It’s a niche case, but throughout uni I’ve had plenty of problems when I was trying to go iPad-only and it felt like I was trying too hard to do something that didn’t make sense trying to. Like… getting a MacBook is way cheaper and is way better in any way, so yh I have an iPad for the Apple Pencil and for that it’s great, but for even the most basic computing or multitasking it’s trash. In conclusion, before you jump at me about the “not needing a MacBook Pro”, you’re right. I don’t specifically need it. I’ll be studying in a Master program starting in September and I will be learning coding, data management and so on and I will work in IT in the future, so I’d rather have a device I can afford now (quitting my job in September so I won’t be able to afford it down the line, not immediately at least) and keep it for 5-6 years instead of settling for an Air. On top of that, as I said, a 15” specced up would have been as expensive as MacBook Pro. So yh, that’s my reasoning about the whole iPad thing. At least for now, maybe wwdc will change everything lol
@@jack_2612iPad may not work for you. But it works for many others including the creator of this channel who is an iPad primary and only device user. Also, I and many others can afford the iPad as a toy even in 1tb configs with 2000 plus price tags and all accessories paid upfront. Apple is seen as a luxary brand. Not everyone who has a car has a Mercedes, Lexus, bmw etc. I can use iPad as my Main primary and only device both professionally and personally. Or it can be a toy. Same as a MacBook. It’s all about what you do. Everyone has the choice to buy whatever devices they want for wherever their use cases are. Some people can afford whatever they want. Others are on a budget. Apple has something for everyone. Use what’s right for you and be happy you have something that works for the tasks you need it for. Enjoy your devices. 5-6 years is always going to be tough to keep any device. There will be something newer and better every year. Just be happy with your choice and enjoy the device. Upgrade as needed or desired depending on finances and value and have fun.
Awesome video! I met your dad at a tech conference last week in Minnesota and he showed me your channel. Now I'm binge-watching your videos. Such great content! Keep up the good work.
I have been waiting for your review and you didn’t disappoint. I use the M1 11” iPad Pro for 99% of my computing needs, the only task I need to use our M1 MacBook Pro is stacking my astrophotography subs. If I could do that on my iPad Pro, I would no longer need to use our MacBook. That being said I am going to purchase the M4 iPad Pro, I haven’t decided on which size or if I will include cellular.
This is pretty much the same for me. However, I’ve now offloaded my astrophotography stacking (PixInsight) to a beefed up Mini PC and just RDP to it from my iPad. I also use WireGuard VPN for when I am on the move and want to access mini PC.
Exactly the same problem here. I use my iPad for astrophotography, except it can't run any of the software for Photoshop from RC Astro. That, and the fact that iPad OS doesn't have a calculator when they could just port the iOS calculator is insane to me. The M4 chip would run blisteringly fast with RC Astro's astrophotography add-ons. It's a shame really -- I wish iPad OS would merge with Mac OS the same way Microsoft made Windows 11 designed for desktops or touch screens both.
Excellent video. I am so pissed that some notable Tech reviewers are calling the New Pro iPad a “another speck bump” I prefer to use my iPad over my MB Pro and use it as much as my iphone. I appreciate your thoughtful observation
Hello from someone who absolutely relies on the ultra wide rear camera for professional work! (20:08) I do architectural surveys where space is always tight but photos always need surrounding visual context. The iPad has been my sketching and data-collection tool. When the iPad Pro came out, it also became my main camera, replacing a cumbersome DSLR with 24mm lens, which previously replaced a GoPro, and the results have been breathtakingly superior! The 0.5x (ultra wide) is far easier, quicker, more convenient in one device. And seamless zoom back to 1.0x and beyond (telephoto) produces crisp clear photos & videos like a true pro. Amazing low light performance, too. It’s one heck of a critical feature that I cannot upgrade to the M4 iPad Pro for the lack of it! Without ultra wide, I cannot do my work!
Your review is the best. When will YT reviewers actually do research on how people use iPads? Most people are not rushing to make YT content with their iPads and comparing the device to MacBooks. So tiring.
Fantastic review from an actual usage , most are doing a near add review. Christopher what’s the Oled like for people that are a bit PWM sensitive? Does it use DC Dimming or PWM, if PWM what’s the Hz?
I finally got my M4 iPad Pro…I throughly enjoy it, but one thing that sticks out is the bezels…they seem so big! I wish they would shrink those bezels! The new Magic Keyboard is awesome. Coming from a 2018 iPad Pro, the new M4 iPad and keyboard much lighter.
Bro, tremendous content. Your focus and detailed rundown of the iPad cuts through all of the PR and marketing videos online. Excellent job! My 13” 1TB arrives tomorrow and I cannot wait. Fully moving off of MacBook over to iPad.
By the way, I loved it that you said "The iPad Pro is my computer". I've been saying that for the past 4 years about my 2020 1TB 12,9" iPad Pro. People won't believe their eyes if they see what I do with my iPad. It replaced my 27" iMac. I tell everybody that this is the best computer I've had in my whole life and I do really mean that (and I've had tons of computers). But after all this, I do believe that iPadOS should finally get the update the iPad Pro deserves. Apple should really be able to do better with that.
So, I've been looking forward to the new iPad's, I have been watching a lot of reviews on it to make sure I make the right choice for what I need. I appreciate your review on these devices, great video!
Great review. It really is a spectacular upgrade. I hope that Adobe starts putting more effort into LR for the iPad. Editing photos on the iPad is such a joy but still missing key features like AI denoise. You can’t even duplicate a photo. No technical reasons those features shouldn’t be available! But this is on Adobe, not Apple.
So far, this was the best review I’ve watched about the iPad Pro M4; it is very insightful and comprehensive, with details on every part of the hardware and associated user experience. I hope that Apple enable macOS on this device because it has a lot of power
I agree: FOCUS MODES are a strong tool and it would be great if you could CUSTOMIZE THE DO NOT DISTURB BUTTON on the keyboard to activate or cycle through certain focus modes (especially between personal and work)
Hardware wise, aside from an extra usbc port, it’s pretty great. What will make me upgrade, however, is software, with system wide input/output audio control being my #1 need and wish.
I loved taking ultra wide pictures with the iPad Pro to capture a room and sketch up on the photo to iterate on room design. Yeah I can also take a photo with another device but having it right in there just more convenient.
New subscriber. I am so happy to have found someone who uses an iPad as much, and in the ways, I do. My iPad Pro 11 M4 with 1T comes tomorrow and I can't wait. The magic keyboard and new pencil will be here by week's end. Great presentation for this device. I use the 11" because the scale just fits me better. So I'm thrilled I won't be missing performance by not having bought the 13". I skipped the Nano screen because it was too high maintenance and I don't really need it. Did get everything in Space Black. It's gorgeous. I know I'll rewatch this video more than once. Thank you for such a thorough and thoughtful review.
Great review. Really shows what an iPad can do. I get there are annoyances with the OS but it’s nice to see a review that doesn’t spend the whole review focusing on that and diminishing what a great device this is.
Great stuff, C-Law!!! You are the man when it comes to this powerful tool! It’s my favorite item in Apple’s lineup by far. You’re my “go-to” for knowledge on it-if I don’t already have it! Thank you! 🙏
Thank you for your amazing work, Christopher! I want to buy an iPad Pro M4 to edit videos for social media and use it as my main computer. I actually use my desktop PC to do editing and organization, but the iPad Pro M4 looks soo good and I love the fact that you can draw and use the Apple Pencil. Also, having the iPad as my main computer will help me to focus on only one thing at time because with my PC I have A LOT of things going on at the same time. My only doubt is if it's actually easy to edit on it because I do short form videos and I have to edit on a daily basis and download a lot of youtube videos to edit. Is it really comfortable to edit videos?
Thank you for the good review! I love my M1 iPad Pro and don't have any plans of upgrading any time soon, but it is very nice to hear what other people think of it. My only concern about getting the iPad to replace a laptop is that you can get such an advanced MacBook for the same price as the iPad Pro that it doesn't seem logical to use an iPad instead.
Apple just did some interviews for some US magazines and confirmed that there is zero chance of iPads running macOS. They reiterated that their business model is that an iPad and Mac complement each other rather than compete. Samsung also follows this now, with their Tab S line not running Linux anymore and no indication they will dual boot into Windows. These are tough markets (tablets and laptops) and competing against yourself just makes it harder.
Very happy with this review. It’s what I want to have as installation in my car. Paper like is perfect. Hope that the installation is not to difficult or to expensive. I am open for all suggestions to have it fixed. iPad Pro 2024, 11 inch m4
No.. I think I’ve finally decided to get the M3 MacBook Pro. I’ve got to stop waiting for the next newest model. I’ve been without a computer since 2013 but definitely it’s time to make the plunge. I’m just scared to purchase. Your videos have helped a lot. Thx.
As always your reviews answer all my questions. I have been using an iPad Pro as my Sole device since the pro model came out. I currently have the M2 IPad Pro but I don’t see a need to upgrade just yet. I’m waiting to see what the IPadOS beta 18 going be about before I do. Cause at this point the device is over powered for the existing operating system.
Love this review. Personally? I’m gunning for the 256GB 13” IPad Air as that more than enough power and storage. It’s enticing, but I don’t need that M4 as that’s way too much power for me and I know deep down I won’t use all the features Pro, it’s like I edit hard 4K videos or photos. I just think that the iPad Air is more realistic for me to utilise as for organising my day to day and life and doing productive things👍🏾. Great review by the way. I’m subscribing.
My Apple Pencil died from lack of use. Tried to use it after sitting for months and it couldn’t be recognized. There are many other lower cost equivalents that function decently when needed.
Great report thank you. I got the iPad Pro 11 inch could only afford 256 gb. Then bought a screen protector which is ONETIME NanoArmour 11-inch iPad Pro 2024 Anti-Glare Matte Screen Protector it cost me A$61.00 which is a great alternative to the nano screen and cost a lot less.
Great review! I’m on the fence between the IPad pro or waiting for the June announcement for presumably new iMac, Studio, etc. and just getting an air for pencil pro on photoshop sidecar from desktop or macbook and procreate. Only thing stopping me from the IPad Pro now is the 16gb ram. I’m looking to get into film production and I’m worried about getting something under 32gb ram for bigger projects like a short film or full feature length. But the Pro does everything else I’d need it to.
Awesome review! Been watching your videos for a while. Thanks to you, I use the IPad exclusively for work. Just got my new Pro 13 today! As someone who is streaming and recording gameplay, what editor do you suggest for IPad and do you feel its worth editing on the Pro 13. Keep the videos coming! Thank you!
Amazing iPad content as always. Does the new iPad work with your existing magnetic stands as I have three CharJen versions I've built desk setups around? See you answered this towards the end. Sadly a no 😢
Thnaks for your review. I’ve been following you a while now, as you’re the “ipad guy” and use it as a daily driver (trying to do the same) Based on this, an IPad M4 11 1Tb with Magic Keyboard and Pencil Pro is the obvious upgrade for me. One q / does this iPad Pro have battery health (like on iPhones) or is still hidden in the weeds
>no data pass through on a £350 """PRO""" magic keyboard port Wtf apple. I'm glad you're a reviewer who actually mentioned that since y'know, you're someone who actually uses one instead of doing a glorified unboxing.
Thanks for your efforts. Based on our review, I ordered the Pro 13. The only extra I would like to have seen is an even larger display and a place to hide the pencil, the waySamsung did with its S9 ultra
Another great iPad use case and review from Chris. Really good stuff as always. My MacBook stays dormant and is so boring. I love my iPad and interacting with it.
with the new ludicrous M4 upgrade, does it support output of 120hz to external monitors though? 4k 120hz to be exact. A bit dizzying and jarring for me to let my eyes keep changing from the 120hz ipad to a huge external 60hz monitor.
It’s not a joke: vim *is* available on the iPad, inside the wonderful (free, and very powerful) terminal app a-Shell. It’s remarkably full-featured, and no joke, it’s how I edit scientific papers on my 2018 iPad Pro. I can’t wait to use my shiny new escape key once my 2024 replacement iPad Pro arrives.
Great review. Thanks. I would like to know or understand from your point of view why are you using an IPAD over a macbook pro or air. You would haver better performance and without the linitation of the IPADOS. I would really like to know it. Thanks.

I can use iPad as my
Main primary and only device both professionally and personally.
Your video has given me hope for the iPad Pro. All other videos felt like “this is just another iPad Pro”
Of all the RUclipsrs, this channel is THEE review that matters. Haven’t watched yet but glad it’s a a meaty 30min+ long. Let’s go! 🎉
The whole time I was watching the keynote all I could think about was what Chris’ thought would be!
I love the in-depth review, in such a short period. This is really everything
Awesome video! I met your dad at a tech conference last week in Minnesota and he showed me your channel. Now I'm binge-watching your videos. Such great content! Keep up the good work.
That’s wild to hear, thank you!
Well said about Stage-Manager needing an upgrade eg app limit and overall organization too.
The only iPad review that matters since you actually use the device. Thanks for the great video
I originally ordered the 13” air when my 2018 12.9” Pro Display died. I decided to return it and exchanged it for the 13” pro. So glad I did.
Waited for this video, if it’s anyone who truly uses this to the max, it’s you. Thanks for the video 🙌🏾
My pleasure!
Switched from the 12.9" 4th gen to the new 11"...totally worth it.
You got me into using tablets as my only on the go computer 5 years ago. Haven't looked back since!
This is the most thorough and thoughtful review I’ve watched on the M4 iPad Pro. Thank you!
This is my favorite M4 Pro review, great job!
Thank you!
Bro, tremendous content. Your focus and detailed rundown of the iPad cuts through all of the PR and marketing videos online. Excellent job! My 13” 1TB arrives tomorrow and I cannot wait. Fully moving off of MacBook over to iPad.
I liked the review. I don’t understand the moving with the trackpad then tapping the screen to click. Why not just finger tap the trackpad?
Honestly, vim on the iPad would actually be so sick!
Wow I didn't know the space black iPad Pro is that dark! Man! I'm glad I went with that color 😮
I was waiting for this review! Thanks for this!
No, thank you! 😎
since you mentioned wanting an OLED TV:
the LG C1, 2 or 3 are all excellent OLED panels
its 4k, 120hz w 4x hdmi 2.1 ports and they look fantastic
Na bro has to be apple 🤣
So far, this was the best review I’ve watched about the iPad Pro M4; it is very insightful and comprehensive, with details on every part of the hardware and associated user experience. I hope that Apple enable macOS on this device because it has a lot of power
I agree: FOCUS MODES are a strong tool and it would be great if you could CUSTOMIZE THE DO NOT DISTURB BUTTON on the keyboard to activate or cycle through certain focus modes (especially between personal and work)
Wow! This is such an amazing review. This is the only one review that you need to see for this product. Great work thanks and I subscribed.
Thank you for such an excellent video!
First timer here on your channel, congrats, what a great discovery!
Yeah I can also take a photo with another device but having it right in there just more convenient.
the new studio looks great! amazing video too dude :) 💪🔥
Thanks dude!
This has been the best new iPad Review I’ve seen so far from a real iPad user that’s great! Keep going!
Thank you! 🙏
You do great work! Appreciate you brother!
Thank you!!
Been waiting for your video on it 😃
Well wait no more!
This video is amazingly well done: so so sooooo informative and professional! You nail it Christopher!
Thanks so much!
He smart he got the 16gb ram models finally somone who isnt complaining because he got the 10 core cpu unit
Yes the iPad pro can edit. Final cut pro is being even more optimized for iPad. I do graphic design just fine
I enjoy your reviews and advice. Accurate and believable. I had talked myself out of the upgrade but reconsidering. Keep up the great work.
Can’t wait for iPad os to become closer to a MacBook while keeping the great parts of what makes an iPad an ipad
Stunning review of the new iPad! I hope there will be more videos coming. Greetings from Argentina!
Thx.
a strong thumbs up from me for the vim joke!
The only M4 iPad Pro review one should watch
Love this review. Personally? I’m gunning for the 256GB 13” IPad Air as that more than enough power and storage. It’s enticing, but I don’t need that M4 as that’s way too much power for me and I know deep down I won’t use all the features Pro, it’s like I edit hard 4K videos or photos. I just think that the iPad Air is more realistic for me to utilise as for organising my day to day and life and doing productive things👍🏾. Great review by the way. I’m subscribing.
The geekbench score is insane! Am I right in thinking the test doesn't discriminate between mobile and desktop? Fantastic review Chris!
Can’t wait to check this out in the store! I’m probably going to get one eventually but gotta save up for a couple months first
My Apple Pencil died from lack of use.
Thank you!
Just as a side note, my SLIM FOLIO PRO keyboard case works perfectly with the new iPad. No Magnets thank goodness, slides in perfectly.
Amazing iPad content as always. Does the new iPad work with your existing magnetic stands as I have three CharJen versions I've built desk setups around? See you answered this towards the end. Sadly a no 😢
NIce music choice - love some old school AFI Punk Music
Apple does make a TV now, it's called the Vision Pro
Thnaks for your review. I’ve been following you a while now, as you’re the “ipad guy” and use it as a daily driver (trying to do the same)
Based on this, an IPad M4 11 1Tb with Magic Keyboard and Pencil Pro is the obvious upgrade for me.
One q / does this iPad Pro have battery health (like on iPhones) or is still hidden in the weeds
>no data pass through on a £350 """PRO""" magic keyboard port
Wtf apple. I'm glad you're a reviewer who actually mentioned that since y'know, you're someone who actually uses one instead of doing a glorified unboxing.
This man is the iPad king.
your reviews is intelligent and relevant. thanks being realistic
Thanks for your efforts. Based on our review, I ordered the Pro 13. The only extra I would like to have seen is an even larger display and a place to hide the pencil, the waySamsung did with its S9 ultra
Interesting thoughts on the screen. Some other videos have said its "better" but "not life changing"
Another great iPad use case and review from Chris. Really good stuff as always. My MacBook stays dormant and is so boring. I love my iPad and interacting with it.
with the new ludicrous M4 upgrade,
does it support output of 120hz to external monitors though?
4k 120hz to be exact.
A bit dizzying and jarring for me to let my eyes keep changing from the 120hz ipad to a huge external 60hz monitor.
I really wish the Magic Keyboard had a silo for the Apple Pencil Pro. I am always losing my Apple Pencil.
I've heard the new magic keyboard rocks a little when you tap the iPad...true?
Well done!
Thank you!!
As an iPad only user, do you recommend transferring data from your old iPad to your new iPad or starting fresh? Thanks!
Oh my god I did not expect the vim joke
Great review. Thanks. I would like to know or understand from your point of view why are you using an IPAD over a macbook pro or air. You would haver better performance and without the linitation of the IPADOS. I would really like to know it. Thanks.
Chris Amazing Video and i had to get the information from people i know who would have the answers. Thanks so much enjoyed. 💯✌️
Love your review Blue.....lots of great comparisons. .. I am almost convinced to trade in my 12.9 inch to the new 13" .....& yes who would not want to have the extra 2 inches ..😢...(interesting toys in yout background)
Awsome video and review! Appreciate the inclusion of examples, demos, and comparisons while covering the upgrades. As well as little details like the pass through charging.
Thank you!!
thank you for the review.
I only have one question that was not addressed in your review. which screen type shows finger prints less? are there any meaningful differences or are they the same?
