@@WillBowers yeah you did! i am mainly interested in your daily usage of it after a few months of using. like: did it survive the newness and did it become part of your daily routines?
What did you think of WWDC? I know anybody who wants MacOS on an iPad will be disappointed again, but those Apple Notes features they showed were awesome things that will help day to day for me.
done! just created a playlist that ill add to as I make more. (only made one for season 2 since some of the older ones are missing, and tbh season 2 is much better anyway so I'd recommend just looking at S2 + the upcoming ones 😉)
As an iPad Pro user, one thing they missed on the new Magic Keyboard was adding data connectivity to the keyboard port (if that’s even possible, it would mean the magic keyboard could essentially stay on your desk and act as a docking station, when you go out pull the iPad off and put it into a folio to use as a tablet on the move. Also wish they hadn’t dropped the Smart Keyboard Folio - Not as good of a keyboard as the magic keyboard but WAY more portable, can be folded back etc. The old one from the M1 and M2 iPad Pro work on the new iPad Air’s but they didn’t release one for the M4 yet sadly.
I just use a USB C dock and have one cable. Plop it on the keyboard and then plug the one cable in. Not exactly as perfect as just plop it on but not really a big deal
Bought the M4 iPad Pro, its a beast... no other words, i ditched my pc, macbook and phone!! , its crazy how powerful it is!!, you did a great job showing its use aswell
@@StefanoTonini-mi7oeI mean I completely ditched my MacBook as well for the iPad Pro, I think it just depends on if you NEED a certain MacBook application to do your work. For me, I don’t need to use some very specific software that is only available for the MacBook and therefore an iPad works sometimes even better than the MacBook used to work for me. Not to mention, you can get a MacBook Air for around the same price as an iPad Pro with the keyboard, give or take, meaning you get a Pro device over an air device (better chip, 120hz, all the pro features you just don’t see on air devices). I think for most people an iPad can easily replace their work needs and certainly personal needs, but for a small percentage of people who just need a certain MacBook application, its still going to have to be the MacBook🤷♂️
Huge fan of the long form. Very relaxing to listen to and cool to see all the experiences you get to go through. Looking forward to more in this form factor.
I upgraded from a 11-inch M2 iPad Pro which I gave to my Mom to the 13-inch M4 iPad Pro. The only reason why I got a bigger screen size was because of the OLED display the deep blacks and contrasts just does it for me. It will be added to my OLED collection such as Steam Decks and Nintendo Switches.
I bought almost all the IPads that apple created. I don’t own a computer and my 2022 12’9 iPad Pro is the only tool I use on my day-to-day work. I teach classes, I have a quite busy youtube channel, I write, I do media consumption, all on it. It’s a proper tool where only the OS is what’s holding it back. There are great apps that allow you to go around some of the problems, like DAvcinci Resolve for editing (even the pro version is one time purchase), Affinity Photo and Lightroom for photo editing, PDF expert, GoodNotes, and so on. I wanted a tool that would allow me to do all, and the iPad does. Hopefully today apple will announce better OS that will make it better.
the hardware is world class but sadly the software still holds it back. sad that WWDC didn't have more for iPadOS, but im still optimistic on the platform for my use cases
Thanks for answering my ‘million dollar question’! It’s so cool to see the community DNA throughout the video and how you’ve shaped your content around it. Makes it super engaging. Great video, great shots too!
I appreciate your longer form reviews where you show your daily use cases, including how you use the product in the office, outdoors, and while traveling. Knowing how good the battery life is was especially helpful. Most reviews I see are very summarized, and a lot of the time, everyone says the same thing. Regarding the balance between long-form content and shorts, I understand you've probably given this a lot of thought. I'm speaking without any experience in making RUclips content, but I've noticed that many people prioritize making long-form content and then clip parts to use as shorts. This approach makes shorts an entry point for your channel and builds your community with the long-form content. I've seen your short content many times and decided to subscribe to your channel after watching this longer video. Keep up the great work!
thank you! my passion is basically about equal in both, so I want to make sure im giving it my all on both too. I don't think clipping my long form for shorts would be a very compelling short product so ill just keep working to develop both simultaneously :) appreciate your kind words!
Wow! Not only the battery life is amazing for the type of work you were doing, but working from an iPad the whole day is impressive for itself. Thanks for the thorough analysis :)
Can you please make more week in the life videos for the products that you review? It is my absolute favorite type of both entertainment and information. And YOU are the person who does this content the best, keep going, I will continue to be a loyal fan and am looking forward to your future content.
Late to the video, but congrats man on 100K Subscribers! You deserve it! 🎉 - A great video as well. As someone who has the last gen iPad Pro, as my primary on the go device when I need to work/business meetings, sticking with this one for awhile but love the insight on the new iPad.
Let's be real, Old Man Joe was the highlight of this video. haha You find the Pro is big game over the Air, or more a side step? I guess the new keyboard/trackpad makes a world of difference. Thanks for sharing about the behind the scenes parts of the business. This is really helpful and inspiring for those of use trying to set and grow things as well. 👍🏼
Loved this long review! I am thinking much about getting the new iPad Pro ´11 Inch, but don’t know if it can be everything I want. Your review (especially the Insights into your workflow, like hovering with pencil and video cutting with shortcuts) helped me greatly with that decision and your review was different from other big YTs which I applaud. I will get the new IPad because I want something for my studies and running my business and all that in a nice small form factor + watching content outside or while Travelling. Thank you will and best wishes from Germany!
I have the 2018 11 inch iPad Pro. The main reason for me to upgrade is the screen. I was looking at the M2 12.9 because of the miniLED screen. I decided to wait. Now that the 11” has the oled screen I’m going to stick with the smaller size. I’m strictly ipad only. Only thing i wish ipad had was a time capsule app to back to an external hard drive like a mac
Came for the thumb nail, stayed for the content! I’ve been delaying buying until I’d seen a in depth use review. My aging 10.5 needs a refresh, you’ve helped me decide that now is the time. Thx
This was the first video I’ve seen of yours and I really enjoyed it! I think you have a real talent when putting together long form videos. I also enjoyed your commentary on your thoughts of where your work is going and what you are striving for :D Great work!!
I’ve recently watched a lot of M4 iPad usability videos since upgrading my M1 iPad to the new M4 version. This is by far the most balanced, enjoyable video on the topic that I’ve seen so far. I’m hoping for a way to relax the iPadOS walled-garden security model in the future so I can natively write and test Python code, but for those involved in video creation/editing, it looks like this new iPad is getting close to being a great MacBook replacement.
Old man Joe. Not even thinking about the new iPad myself, to be honest. I stumbled on this video browsing some to learn more about video editing on the iPad.
Coming from a 2018 model I went to M2. I made this choice because of the type USB, the M-chip and ofcourse the price. I got a pretty good deal on a 512GB version. I've been editing videos on my 2018 for years and it started to struggle a bit when I started creating with mirrorless video footage. When it comes to scrubbing and exporting(frequent crashes due to not enough memory + weak CPU load I'm guessing) It just didn't do the trick anymore. Editing gopro stuff was fine. I hope that the experience will change with the M-chip and the faster USB. * Oh for editing I do recommend Lumafusion but the app seems a bit buggy with the latest release which is sad though.
I just wanted to say davinci is not full fledged either. I got an ipad pro last year in hopes of editing on the fly and ended up buying a macbook pro this year because the ipad just wasn’t cutting it. Keep in mind I mostly just cut and color grade my footage so anything more complex than that would be a hard pass. Also render times are more than doubled compared to my m3 max chip
Wow somebody who gets it, that’s rarer than you think. Stage manager isn’t perfect but you actually touched on the most important point, that at first things feel very different from a Mac….because they are. So many people who have 10+ years of muscle memory built around MacOS don’t even give it a chance. MacOS is better in its own ways, and iPad has its strengths too.
Congrats on 100K, it’s absolutely insane that you’re already at 200K at the time of this comment. This is your latest video! How have you doubled your goal?! BTW… for those who know: Old man Joe.
24 fps is the standard frame rate for tv/movies. Most things you watched are filmed this way, not shooting higher fps for RUclips. Higher fps is good for sports/gaming
