    I just wanted to point out (again) that I have been a technical trainer for over 25 years and have been using PowerPoint since it was first introduced, and your PowerPoint learning videos are still some of the best I have ever seen! Please keep them coming! - Chuck, Canastota, NY

      Charles Campbell Hi Chuck - thank you so much for your comment and sharing your story. I'm so glad that the tutorials are helpful, even for pros like yourself! :) Yes, it takes a while to crank out each one, but am always working on new stuff - appreciate the encouragement!

    Great video, but if you're planning to do this, here's a pro tip; when you duplicate an object, so do the animations. Therefore you only have to do is make One set of cards ( the yellow and blue), and then duplicate that card a couple of times, then change the text. I hope this helped anyone.

    I used this to create a memory/Match game as virtual team builder. By splitting the board vertically, right side each box was a name of a person on the team, left side had the unique match question (such as career you wanted or place you would want to visit or something you consistently do); then also used a power point Icon (i prefer the animal) and place it between the top and bottom "flash card" so as the top flips over or back it covers the icon...then you match the icons as a game. Great Team builder and fun to use. Thanks TONS for the Tips and keep them coming.

    Super!A good thing about power point is that we can create anything out of scratch and we sharpen our minds too.It needs patience but the result is great!Thank you for the tutorial! :)To add more suspense for the students, we can also add another pack of 12 cards on top of them all , -with numbers ( from 1 to 12) or pictures -so that the students can choose a number in random and put an exit fade trigger so that a blue card will be revealed :) Don't forget to add an exit fade trigger for each card separately of course :)

    P-spice I’m so rarely impressed with instructional videos to the point of leaving a comment. But you really do an excellent job. Not only have I gleaned terrific ideas and shortcuts, but your speaking style and visual meshes with the presentation very well. Since my slides are used for online instruction to type A personalities, I’d always thought excitement was key. What I learned was it depends on the time I’d day, day of week, market action, etc, Sometimes I’ll make two version AM & PM; with different music in background and either a softer vocal tone or a more energetic tone. Even though you don’t have a video on this specific topic it was from watching your vids that caused me to a/b test the idea. Soooo..... sometimes we learn things from people they hadn’t meant to teach but are pearls nonetheless. Kudo’s girl. Now imma make my class a game.... all cos of p-spice. Enjoy your day.

    Sometimes Lea says to select the cards again, but they're already selected. If I just hit "Add Animation" from there will this screw things up? Or should I deselect, then select again before adding animation? I've probably attempted this tut around, oh, ten times now, and it hasn't come out right yet. But it's very important that I nail this. Also, at times she will ask that the trigger be set to "on click", and yet in the start panel it will be set to "after previous". Should I change that to "on click" as well? She never called attention to this discrepancy, and what to do.

The game needs 4 slides.... slide #1 with 1-12 number boxes; slide #2 the questions; slide #3and either or choice (ex. red or green); slide #4 the correct answer. I know this may be a bit much to apply the triggers, but if you would please let me know how to do this or if it is even possible, better yet a tutorial would be nice. I would greatly appreciate it.

    This is not easy at all. The main reason seems to be that it is just so detailed and tedious, and so easy to make a mistake! Then you have to go back, possibly begetting even more mistakes. I'm also getting the distinct impression that even though a mistake was made, the cards will behave and appear as if nothing is wrong. Just before dragging in 9:19, Start changed from "After Previous" to "On Click". I only caught this because of the mouse icon which suddenly appeared next to my triggers. I think that a host of problems started when I accidently dragged something down to far, causing the following slide to pop up, and I to pull up again the one I was working on. UPDATE: Damn. I had to hit redo twenty times and somehow undid some things I shouldn't have....had to X-out so I could start all over again.

    Hi! I'm a fan of your works and always wait for your videos because i also love making interactive powerpoints. I think it will be alot easier, when you're going to use many cards, IF you apply the trigger to a pair of cards first and then duplicate these cards so the trigger itself is already set on the following duplicates. It saves you a lot of time. That's what i do when i make some games. Just something i could share! :)

(Once before the two slides are combined, and once after?) What does combining them the first time do, if we still have to do it again later? Can that step be skipped so the animations are only set once?

    Does this work on picture in the bottom layer? I built first layer with text box and 2nd layer with picture for a children game. The click only show the text box, just collapse and stretch.

    Hello! Great video, I plan on using this! Only one thing I need to know. Is there a way to make these cards movable within the space of screen? Say, I group the 2 sides as an object which them becomes draggable without flipping. I ask this as that would make the cards usable for a complete card game!

    • @powerpointspice
      @powerpointspice  4 года назад +1

      Hi Daya - unfortunately you can't really do draggable stuff in PowerPoint without using VBA etc. You would need to use ARticulate products for more drag and drop effects. If you want to make a 2-sided object / card, however, you could create a 3D skinny card in Paint 3D (should be available on your computer - or at least through the Microsoft App store) and then import that into PowerPoint. This would then be truly 2-sided and flippable. Very interesting idea actually - I will keep that in mind for maybe a future tutorial.

    Here's my huge problem. When you say select again when the cards are already selected, I deselect first, then reselect. It made no sense to me to click on each card and select since they were each already selected. Now the little lightning bolt icons and the numbers look very different, and I'm afraid both to undo, or trudge forward.

    Maybe this is asked before ... Based on your great tutorial, I made a flipcard-ppt to practice basic-equations (13 y.o. pupils). I want to share this (out of dropbox e.g.) so if they click a link they can start the game. But ... when I create a link to a presentation they can do 'nothing' :-( So, no animations at all. Tips?

      PowerPoint Spice Just downloaded your "interactive game presentation" and it's actually really cool. I realized that you only have to make the squares with the animation and trigger once. Then you copy and paste it as many times you want and the trigger will still work in all those copies. So that saves too much time. (I explained it as best Icould)

      PowerPoint Spice I'll be looking for it. In the meantime, I used hyperlinks to make my own quiz on on the PowerPoint shortcuts because I'm too old to not get confused when I was trying to do the triggers on each of the graphics for that many. It fit better with my concentration. The big problem with doing that is it's resources intensive whereas this tutorial makes it more compact. Again thanks for this good tutorial. The trigger method is highly adaptable for many I may plan to do in the future.

    Pick up and apply all format is NOT Ctrl-Shft-C then Ctrl-V. It should be Ctrl-Shft-C then Ctril-Shft-V. You have said it wrong in video at 5:03.

    Hello Powerpoint Spice, I have encountered a problem with my last card of my memory game template. When I flip the card over and attempt to flip it back, my slide show is showing all of my cards and advancing to the next slide. Do you know how I can fix this?

    • @powerpointspice
      @powerpointspice  4 года назад

      Hi vincent - sorry for the delay - check the trigger on that and make sure it points to the correct card. That's really the only explanation if all the cards work except that one.

    I have PPT 2011 for Mac. I went through all of these steps only to find there is no "trigger" option in my custom animation window. Frustrating! Is there something I can do? Thanks for the tutorial!

    • @powerpointspice
      @powerpointspice  8 лет назад

      Hi Maggie - thanks for watching the video! Yes I'm not a huge fan of ppt for Mac as there are many limitations such as this. However I believe triggers made on a pc should work if imported to Mac - so maybe try the download link in the description? Then you'll at least have the cards with the triggers done.

    I'm missing the step where you added text. I know how to add a text box, but I noticed there's a ruler when you do it and no visible text box. What did you do? The video just jumps and boom, typing. Anyone know?

    • @powerpointspice
      @powerpointspice  3 года назад

      You write inside the card (shape) itself - no text box needed.
