I got a red model of this amp for free but they swiped the tubes.im gonna get the new tubes as this guy makes this amp smoke, what a fantastic player,I'd love to see you rock thanks Graham
Thanks to this video i bought the amp and sold my guitars. Some of the best playing I've heard; I come back to it often. Amp is an absolute monster - i have it with the cab and oh my.
I've had mine for years and only ran it at bedroom/low gig volumes. Today the wife and son were gone for a couple hours so I figured I'd dime the volume and see how it sounded... really smoothed out the gain and I was getting a beautiful 80s metal tone with minimal gain and some higher output pickups. I definitely fell back in love with this amp.
I love these amps they remain their clarity and tone even when their Kranked remain tight that's a good sign of a good amp, alot of amps lose that when opened up. This is the best video I've ever heard on these amps to by the way you just made this amp do what it was suppose to do other then tube swap and attenuator
Man, those are some tasty licks! You know, this is the very first time I`ve listened to one of these amps. I see them all the time at Long&McQuade. I see them all the time on Kijiji. Now I want one! You`d think I wouldn`t have waited so long to give it a listen. I owned an old self powered Traynor board, and it was absolutely amazing. Some of the warmest, sweetest sounding mids on vocals... or anything else, for that matter. Traynor is seriously underrated.
I bought mine less than a week ago. I’d been eyeing it for some time now and finally ‘pulled the trigger’. Holy Moly am I ever glad I did and now question why I took so long to do it. Traynor make fantastic products and sadly remain underrated. Locally made is a bonus as well.
I have a mint shape 2014 Traynor YCV40 with footswitch, and love it. Sort of a Vox AC, clean Fender and vintage Marshall rolled into one combo. Just playing it today, sounds great with an extension cab too, plenty loud for most gigs. The extension output jack is up inside, next to where the internal speaker plugs in. So, you could also unplug the internal speaker to run a bigger extension cab. Keep it all at 4 ohms minimum.
Nikolay, your playing is full of soul and technical proficiency. Traynor shoud hire You, cause i'm buying the YCV next week :D Greetings from Poland, my friend :)
I snagged one of these recently for $299. Replaced the stock speaker with a Warehouse ET65 and it’s now one of the best amps I’ve ever played ... the backup to my Bassbreaker 30R rig.
Great demonstration of the versatility of this "sleeper" amp. I picked one up used for $300 bucks w while back and you couldn't pry it out of my dead hands. I think about buying a $1,500 Mesa or Genz Benz on occasion. All I have to do is plug into this tone machine and I'm reminded that there is no need to own anything else. I don't understand some of the comments about noise or hiss. These amps are famous for their bullet proof construction and they are amazingly quiet for a tube amp.
Nikolay, I just heard "Frevo" performed by you on your RUclips channel. I use to listen to that in the early eighties. Al,John, and Paco. The best. You need to come to the states and play that live at the Greek Theater in LA!! Great feel!!!You are truly inspiring!!!!
Dude, man, you rock. I have the companion cabinet to this amp, which I bought simply because I needed a nice 1x12 (don't have the Traynor amp you're demoing here, but I landed here). This is a great video.
I got one of these for free (lucky me) from a sergeant that left my last base and had too much equipment to move. It took me a while to appreciate it but now that I've mellowed out in my playing and gone back to bluesier playing my Mesa is collecting dust now... great amp.
Just as a note, your video was what caused me to buy this wonderful amp. I had never heard of these before your video, but once I saw this amp, I had to check into these things. Found one for 325 bucks and bought it right away. Thanks for sharing the wealth man!!
Awesome! Some of your runs blow me away. I have no idea how you play them. I would love to get the music or tab to some of the licks you played. Wonderful tone.
Capt. Daniel Davidson bought a ycv80 that looks like its been dragged 5 miles down a gravel road behind a truck. (Not exaggerating) $200. Works and sounds fine except for a broken trim pot on the fx loop. Compared to my hot rod deville way more versatile and turns down way better... and it was $200. (Did i mention that i only paid $200 for it) i cant understand why traynor stuff is so cheap
Hey Nikolay, I have the same amp and love it. But I have a question that is not related to amps or amp tone... how did you learn all those chromatic runs and get them so fast and clean? Which players (if any) inspired that kind of playing and have those licks always been part of your musical vocabulary?
Nikolay Karageorgiev I've been having some problems with mine too. Sometimes it just starts to feedback really loudly even without any in-signal. Guitar cable disconnected! Dunno what's up with it and can't afford a Guy to look at it. :( What happened to yours?
Hi Nikolay~* I am one of your many supporters, & I am a proud owner because of you. So thank you. But please explain what happened to your amp for you to say that it "blew up". Because now I am sincerely concerned that eventually my amp will too... & I have never heard of an amp just blowing up. I am also wondering if my safety is at risk. Serious request... Kindly advise~* & awesome playing & helpful channel ~* CHRiS (Mississauga Toronto Canada) ~*
Credit where credit is due. I purchased one of these amplifiers, sight unseen, when they first came out. Doesn't have the vintage 30 like the one you are playing. However, I found your settings helpful. The clean channel really chimes. The lead channel settings really help to kill the mids. Nice playing as well.
WOW....I know this vid is 2 yrs old but wanted to tell you what a great demo it is for the amp. GC has one for $349 used....I've never owned a tube amp and love the tone you're getting. I use a strat so it should be close....however, the tone coming from your fingers is amazing. I agree with many others, your playing is just great to listen to....loved it!
Awesome playing. Great tone. Definitely sounds better than the fennder blues and hot rod series amps. I can say that cuz I've owned deluxes and devilles!!!
At just about 5 the clean channel starts to break up, going into a deliciously saturated rock sound. If you put it at 10 and run a booster in front of it it just starts screaming. This is an incredibly versatile and classic sounding amp. I had it for more than 15 years and never really appreciated it.
@DudeXMyster Hi and thanks! Yes GT grade 3 are poweramp tubes. And early breakup means that when you push the amp, the end tubes will start distorting much earlier than for example grade 9 (late-breakup tubes). That combined with lower gain preamp tubes is going to give more clean headroom on the clean channel (in case you need it of course) Cheers!!
@joshrdealmusic Thanks a lot!! The clean channel has serious amount of clean headroom before breakup, with mic in front there is no problem at all to get absolutely clean sound in gig situations. Especially if you use late breakup power tubes (in my video the tubes are GT early breakup type- grade 3) The amps sounds great also with Humbuckers (at least with PAF type, I have on all my guitars SD 59 or Gibson 57 and Bursbuckers) Cheers!!
Just bought a used one. This demo is the best I have seen. You let the instrument do the talking. 2 thumbs way up !! Can you tell me which tubes you put in and what attenuator you used.
@Straydogsmgr Hi, the amp is stock, but the end tubes are different (GT - early breakup type). The speaker is Celestion Vintage 30. No pedals, just attenuator :-) Cheers!!
I had this amp. best tone ive ever had from an amp. P,ayed a marshall jcm800 and 900 and a few other amps and chose this over all of them. Also got the 80 watt 212 version of this for a lot more gain and a boost switch. only issue with this is the constant hiss but I guess it could be modded to get rid of that.
@gcrash5 Thanks .-), glad you like it Actually only the two preamp tubes are TAD highgrade, the third is Jan Phillips 12AT7 (was there already when I got the amp. The end tubes are GT
You may or may not want to here this but the beach boys started out using Traynor amps as well as country artist . mainly for that clean sound ! Then there was vox also Fender.
+brian jerin Is there a big tone difference in both amps? Can you confirm the vox/blues deluxe comparison? In other videos the 20 maybe sounds less warm than this one here, but I dont know how much the attenuator has influence on that... Can I get the sound of the 40 in this video with a 20 ? would be nice if you let me know! :)
Yes I agree.. The YCV50 has a smaller bypass cap on the first gain stage (1µf vs 22µf), giving a tighter less full sound. The rest of the clean channel looks identical on the schematic,, From there only the altered values in the global feedback (power section), and the EL34 vs 6l6 power tubes should make a difference from the clean channel sound.
got my YCV50B from ebay delivered to my door for $275 last year...changed v1 to a less output tube and love it (a 12ay7 i think instead of the 12ax7) made the od less buzzy...also it came with KT77's instead of EL34's
Hey, your playing is awesome! Both the Texas-sound and the rapid scale running are superb! I own this amp for 3 years now and still love it. For SRV-Sounds the traynor is the best you can get in this price segment - and I really can tell. I checked out tons of amps before I bought this one. Only thing I miss is a master vol and a better reverb spring. Do you use extra hot PUs? TX-specials?
@thedge2911 Hi, I am glad you like he sound and I really think its a great amp. I definitely got only the guitar and the amp (no pedals), but there are two more things, I have attenuator which allows me to get crunchy sound on room levels and early breaking tubes, its sound cool like that but the clean headroom is reduced . Anyway, with normal tubes, one just have to find the sweet spot. The pups are Suhr, not the original Fenders
I own one of them ...Man this his one of my collection Best Thing ...Trust me ... i've been around with many many rare tube amp...this one got best of both world ... Imagine a Fender and Marshall Voice under the same amp ! ;) (But this is only my 2 cents ... Best thing is to try to believe ! ) and dont be afraid to drive this Babe hard...it got Balls
almost ten years later and this is still the best demo of this amp available.
Preach it! I was gifted one and whenever I try and find Online info about it I seem to come up blank... do you have one?
Actually ten years later still no changes
Yep , Hearing a guy that cannot play well even playing thru a great amp is a real injustice to the amp ! Bad representation !
Still a awesome demo in Oct 2021!
I got a red model of this amp for free but they swiped the tubes.im gonna get the new tubes as this guy makes this amp smoke, what a fantastic player,I'd love to see you rock thanks Graham
Came for the amp, stayed for the playing !! Awesome 👍🏼!!
Classy playing, right on the edge of breakup. I wish more people did a demo like that.
Stunning playing, stunning tone. I was making nasty faces listening to this. U have a new fan brother.
Thank you!
Very nice man. I Just got myself the blue YCV50. Great amps hey. :)

That tone at 2:00 is glorious! You've really got me wanting one of these amps. Really nice playing man!
I just got a good deal on one----- the tone is unbelievable
Best amp for that price range. Made in Canada! 2 years warranty.
Thanks to this video i bought the amp and sold my guitars. Some of the best playing I've heard; I come back to it often. Amp is an absolute monster - i have it with the cab and oh my.

Do you have the original tubes in her ?
Incredible guitar playing! Traynor should pay you!
What a monstrous tone!
I love these amps they remain their clarity and tone even when their Kranked remain tight that's a good sign of a good amp, alot of amps lose that when opened up. This is the best video I've ever heard on these amps to by the way you just made this amp do what it was suppose to do other then tube swap and attenuator
The most underated amp ever. Ive had mesa's marshalls and oranges...none can touch the wine red 40. Period.
I’ve just got one second hand , it sounds great even at low volumes and that reverb wow
I bought mine less than a week ago. I’d been eyeing it for some time now and finally ‘pulled the trigger’. Holy Moly am I ever glad I did and now question why I took so long to do it. Traynor make fantastic products and sadly remain underrated.
Locally made is a bonus as well.
One of the best guitarists, period.
Your playing is so inspirational.
Thanks, yes I have changed the tubes for early breakup GT 6L6, btw, the amp is great, one of the best sounding clean channels i have ever heard!!
Thank you for the excellent demonstration of this remarkable amplifier!
I have a mint shape 2014 Traynor YCV40 with footswitch, and love it. Sort of a Vox AC, clean Fender and vintage Marshall rolled into one combo. Thanks a lot!!!
I want to thank you for not over doing the reverb on your demo. I'm purchasing this amp and you have the best sounding demo.
i just bought this exact amp. i can definitely say it is the greatest amp ive ever played
How are the original tubes ?
Love that foot tapping.....musician.
This is my amp, the Traynor YCV40. Thanks for the fine demo.
I snagged one of these recently for $299.
Replaced the stock speaker with a Warehouse ET65 and it’s now one of the best amps I’ve ever played ... the backup to my Bassbreaker 30R rig.
Wow, I wasn't expecting that good of a high gain/ lead tone. Very '80s, hard rock sound.
Damn that’s an amazing demo. Great playing.
Thanks!!
The only one on RUclips.who no how to play a real valve amp.good stuff
Fantastic Playing! I'm so getting one of these amps, tried one earlier today and was so excited at the range of tones available.
1:20-1:50 is the reason I can't bring myself to sell my amp, it's far too loud for my needs, but it sounds so beautiful, nicely played!
@JD0GxAUDI0 just the V30 and the tolex. The original has a celestion 70/80 speaker
Nikolay, I just heard "Frevo" performed by you on your RUclips channel. I use to listen to that in the early eighties. Al,John, and Paco. The best. You need to come to the states and play that live at the Greek Theater in LA!! Great feel!!!You are truly inspiring!!!!
I own The YVC 80 bought 18 years ago is in mint condition and sounds great all the time ⏲️!
excellent demo...all in the hands as they say!
These improve so much with the extension cabinet. If I had to put a number on it, I would say 100% improvement.
Dude, man, you rock. I have the companion cabinet to this amp, which I bought simply because I needed a nice 1x12 (don't have the Traynor amp you're demoing here, but I landed here). This is a great video.

Love it! Great demo too!
I bought mine not yet one week ago and for me IT IS AWESOME.
Cheers for the post.
👍👍
Thats some slick playing my friend. Killer demo dude.
Just as a note, your video was what caused me to buy this wonderful amp. I had never heard of these before your video, but once I saw this amp, I had to check into these things. Found one for 325 bucks and bought it right away. Thanks for sharing the wealth man!!

I have the big brother of this amp 80 watts of tube power and I love the tones I get out of it.
My 'Wish List' amp is the 80W. Consider yourself envied :(
Capt. Daniel Davidson bought a ycv80 that looks like its been dragged 5 miles down a gravel road behind a truck. (Not exaggerating) $200. I just bought one for $800.00. On credit!!

Allows you to play quiet and still achieve tube distortion from the power amp
@DudeXMyster

Lovely tones, tasteful playing and a great vibrato technique. Bravo mate!
I'm a harp player and really dig this amp. I can melt the walls with it.
it is a tank. Awesome sound Bro.
@joshrdealmusic
Thanks a lot!!

Hey brother, phenomenal playing, I’m thinking of grabbing one of these second hand, does it keep up with a drummer?
@@brycegifford7865 hi and thanks, yes it can, especially if you don't mind a bit of dirt on the clean channel ( when played really loud). Cheers
WOW, I came for the amp, but fell in love with your playing bro KUDOS!!!! You ROCK!
Really great playing!
Thanks
Man that is simply fabulous. Great sounds, great playing!
Just bought a used one. This demo is the best I have seen. You let the instrument do the talking. 2 thumbs way up !! Can you tell me which tubes you put in and what attenuator you used.
Don't need attenuator. The wr version of the ycv40 has master volume so you can crank each channel.
@Straydogsmgr
Hi, the amp is stock, but the end tubes are different (GT - early breakup type). The speaker is Celestion Vintage 30. No pedals, just attenuator :-)

which attenuator are you using please?
I’m also interested in the attenuators :)

great playing, really love that srv tone at the beginning.cheers
This amp sounds BEAUTIFUL!
never tried this amp...what a sound!!!
Dear god. You're a beast!
@gcrash5
Thanks .-), glad you like it
Actually only the two preamp tubes are TAD highgrade, the third is Jan Phillips 12AT7 (was there already when I got the amp. The end tubes are GT
uh - who is this guy? not expecting these high quality riffs. nicely done sir
You may or may not want to here this but the beach boys started out using Traynor amps as well as country artist . mainly for that clean sound ! Then there was vox also Fender.
These are really freaking good
@shovelheadl979
Thanks a lot :-) The attenuator is always on and its inside in the amp, on the top of the reverb tank
Every single Amp and Instrument being touched by the bulgarian genious sounds great.
i just upgraded from the 20 to the 40. can't wait to get it!
They are both great amps, but have different tones. The 20 sounds more like a vox and the 40 more like a blue deluxe
They are both great amps, but have different tones. The 20 sounds more like a vox and the 40 more like a blue deluxe
+brian jerin Is there a big tone difference in both amps? Can you confirm the vox/blues deluxe comparison? Its great! I think i prefer the 20. But I just upgraded to a 65 princeton reverb reissue
thanks! enjoy :)
@BluesHeavy
No, its the same like with your amp. Clean starts to get crunchy (a bit) already on 11 o clock
Nice chops, dude. I just picked up one of these amps and love it.
Very good! Great palying!
Nikolay Karageorgiev Great playing and demo!
got my YCV50B from ebay delivered to my door for $275 last year...changed v1 to a less output tube and love it (a 12ay7 i think instead of the 12ax7) made the od less buzzy...also it came with KT77's instead of EL34's
Thanks a lot, I like it too!! I don't remember (I think 5 though), have to check, but the amp is not at home. The tubes are TAD. Cheers!!!
sick playing dude! great feel! I'm thinking bout switching to traynor from my fender hotrod
Fantastic playing! Would love to jam you must be even more amazing now.
Nice phrasing bro and good demo of the amp.
übersmooth playing and great tone! i'd go to that concert fo'shoe
Chord at 2:04 and 2:13 sold me on this amp. Christ.
Great feeling, great tone, great phrases. Cool :-)
Awesome in every way :)
Cool rockin' man. I swear the overdrive channel sounds just like the cmatmods brownie pedal.
I own one of these. Love it. Nice playing!
Николай, тебе за такую демку Traynor должен заплатить) после этого видоса я себе такой купил, респект)

dude, killer playing. really, really wicked. i'm jealous. i'm going to try to learn some of those licks.
and update.. i just bought one, mainly because of this demo. Traynor owes you one more!
