No vibrations with the RWD - of course! The vibrations came from the front wheel motor. Whether the vibrations are gone on the 2024 Twin is the question.
Hi Thom, great Video again. I drove the FWD a few weeks ago, the RWD three weeks ago and my MY24 Twin now and i like to say: You don't need the Twin, if you don't need the All Wheel Drive for heavy snow or Mountains. The RWD is enough and gives you the electric car feeling. For me, personaly, i checked the acceleration of my twin a few times and it's brutal, like riding a roller coaster, but 98% of your driving time you would be finde with the RWD. I enjoy the efficentcy more that putting down the pedal. I drove from Nuremberg to Bremen (600 km) in normal driving style, with three times chargin 15 minutes, with 19.8 KwH. And Yesterday from Bremen to St. Peter Ording (280 km) without charging with 20.7 Kwh, Adaptive Cruise control set to 130 km. What i've noticed is that the Lane keep assist is a little bit hectic if you got crosswind. And in my opinion the RWD is smother with it's adaptive cruise control then the twin.
I also tried the new MY24 XC40 with RWD 2 week ago and I loved it. I have the FWD C40 and also love that, so difficult say which is best. I think the 100 km longer range could make me choose the M24 model when i can go out of my lease period in January 2024 or in 2025
It's good to hear that some of the annoyances you've experienced with your '22 C40 are no longer present with the the '24 model you are testing here. I'm wondering, however, if some of the problems you've had are attributable to your car being one of the first examples of that model in the year it was introduced. For example, I've had no problems with my 2023 C40 (January 2023 delivery); specifically, no vibration of the drive train at any speed and no buzzing of the interior lights.
I wonder the same, Cary! Though, I've heard/spoken to fellow Volvo drivers with the MY23 who also appear to have these issues. My guess is they got everything sorted out with the MY24 update. Wish I had one of these already, haha! Thx for watching as always. 😊
Good job and very nice to hear of all the drive train performance improvements. I just ordered the Polestar 2 LRSM, which is the same underneath. Can you confirm the difference between the C40 and P2 is just the body shape with the latter being more efficient? What about the price and trim differences? The P2 RWD will suit me perfectly for the long Australian highways. I pick it up at Volvo Adelaide in October hopefully. Ps I saw a XC40 Recharge in Sage green today parked at our supermarket and it was a beautiful car, but I still prefer the style of the C40, and the P2 of course!
The C40 is a more comfortable and better sound isolated car. Same platform but still quite different to PS2. PS2 on the other hand has a better drag coefficient and better infotainment system. Not to mention better handling in corners.
Great videos and content - thanks for sharing your experiences. Thinking about the C40 vs the XC40 but concerned about the view from the rear view mirror. How much of a problem is this going to be - clearly you are a fan of this car so interested to know what persuaded you to choose this over the XC40. I notice you drive with the rear headrests down 😊 Looking to move to a smaller car from my XC70. No cameras just sensors front and back on this one and very used to mirrors and sensors so trying to figure out how that dynamic changes for driving and parking with the C40. Anything you can share on your experience here would be hugely appreciated.
13-16kW/100km...😮 Great efficiency! Similar to the Tesla Model 3 LR. In October I replace my M3 LR with the XC40 ER. I hope I got it right. A greeting from Spain
Hey mate great video. I got my c40 and steering was vague and not centered. Very minor. Dealer tried to fix it however made it worse towards 11 o clock. They kept it for 4 days. However did not give any alignment reports. Volvo simply said deal with dealer. Did you or known one has issue with steering not being in centre? When car stops you can feel steering moving to right ( never felt in any car). All had adaptive steering.
Sorry to hear about your problems with the car, I havent heard about this issue so far but will keep an eye on it... Hopefully they get it fixed soon, it's such a fun car. Take care!
Hi Thom, I have just put my order in for a C40 myself! I have the following question, when testdriving I was able to use Apple Carplay through a wired cable connection. But I tried to connect my Android phone for Android auto - and could not get it to work. Do you know if Android auto is supported? (even though the system itself is android automotive off course). I just have settings and apps on Android auto that are not available on Android automotive (yet). Thanks for your time answering all these questions! Subbed also ;)
Thx a lot, Thom!! Yay, vibrations are gone! 🎉 BUT: does that help us that have a pre-MY24? Altogether different drive train. I would be Ok if I get a MY24 new C40 for the rate I drive my MY23 😎 Btw. buzzing noise I wouldn‘t expect on the new one, as they know what caused it, they replaced the backlit decors on my MY23 C40 and it‘s totally silent afterward
I guess we're stuck with vibrations, boo to volvo for that... I wasnt aware that Volvo has a fix for the buzzing, gotta get that installated prior to my guarantee dropping early next year. Thx 😉
Who is the manufacturer of the battery pack in the new C40? Is it still LG? I am asking, because cars with LG batteries had recently problems with the battery spontaneously combusting.
P2 and Volvo 40 Recharge are platform and drivetrain wise the same. P2 gets a bit more range due to better aero. The P2 handles the best, the 40's are more spacious and perhaps family friendly. Trim wise the Polestar is equipped pretty ok, kinda comparable to volvo's core/plus/ultimate. But, Polestar is the more 'exclusive' brand over Volvo so pricing might differ there a bit. Overal I think you'll be very happy with your P2. 😉👍 (sage green is great btw, a typical volvo color, so cool!!)
I picked up our new XC40 Long range 10- days ago. Range at the dealer at 100% just 390km.... now 10 days later... Average consumption 18km 100/kWh... I'm not impressed with the range at al. My previous Hyundai Kona (short-lease) was able to get 425 km range... with a small battery.... I'ts also very strange when accelerating you will feel a kind a vibration....
And what about the imbedded Waze app? Does it show the estimated range? And does it show the map in the dashboard like the Apple Maps is showing now? Cheers
I'm wishing my ordered would be coming soon , From Australia 🦘 that I made an order single motor XC40 MY24 since June, haven't heard deliver news as yet for right hand drive country.😅
@@potdolphin thanks for your info kub... I'm Thai person living abroad in Aus , Last month was visiting Bangkok and went through observed that it has been delivered in Thailand these days. I'm really envious of it 🤣

Haven't got any confirmation yet if the front motor is the real issue, tbc. Some awd my24 drivers are reporting no vibrations as well. 👍
I have a 2024 c40 twin and have not noticed any vibrations at all.
Tom thankfully for your video and my favourite model is Volvo C40 recharge 24 🥰 I whish you lots of joys on journeys 👋
Tried the 24 Twin today and loved it!

Hi Thom. In which way you regenerate most on a highway? One pedal drive combined with cruise control OR one pedal drive only?
Just did a review and test drive on mine and Volvo is a sleeping giant super luxurious if you ask me. I think the range is a little short tho.

What is the Kw/h 100 km. When you drive at 110 km/h. The Xc40 has 21 kw/h. I thought maybe this had a little bit lower because of its slimmer size. 😊

You’ll love it I am sure, thanks for watching 😊
Why the change?
why is the back headrest always down? is the visibility that bad otherwise? or is it just for the dog?
Mainly for our dog, but also increases visibility a bit

Congrats! Android auto is not supported as the car works on the AAOS so you will have to use that. Thx for watching!
Is the frunk on the RWD model bigger than Twin?
No
I wish! But sadly not, haha!

You may not know this Thom, but my understanding is that the dual motor in the USA will not ship with the increased charging speed. Can you confirm?
I'm not aware about this, to be frankly honest I cannot imagine that Volvo ships a 'different' 40 series to the US. Will look into this, thanks!
Thx a lot, Thom!!

Outside temp 23°
I would like to do a video with you and your car. I never had the change to drive / be passager in a electric volvo
If you use Apple Carplay and set a destination, will it find and plan charging as the built in google maps? And start the heatpump etc?
No that’s only with the Volvo/Google built in system unfortunately.
@@thom-lov ok, that’s what a thought! Thanks. Can’t wait to get my c40 extended in a few weeks! 😃
