TvT is probably my favorite mirror match. I wouldn't mind a TvT being added to the mix more often, especially if it's a high quality game like this one.
Thank you for listening to community feedback Artosis! I enjoyed all three mirror matchups. And as always leaned quite a bit from your casting. Keep up the hard work dude! 🙏🙏💪💪
Crazy action-packed game! I think I love TvT more than TvZ sometimes (especially when Zerg rushes defiler and turtles every base with dark swarm + lurker). My assessment of Speed (that I haven't seen RT mention as a specific trait of the player) is that he's extremely aggressive at pushing his vultures out onto the map and laying mines everywhere. One thing I don't recall ever being talked about is the fundamental difference between T, P, and Z in terms of static defences. P and Z have cannons and sunkens for anti-ground static D but T only has bunkers which require supply invested into marines to actually do anything. But Speed is really showing that mines are the true static D for Terran because they cost no supply, they give vision, and they're basically free when you're making mass vultures anyway. The main cost of mines is APM, and Speed really spends his APM appropriately to focus on mining the entire map. It's an awesome playstyle that gives the impression of a python constricting the life out of his opponent!
Does anyone know if the 1/256 chance to miss a low to low ranged attack is intended or a bug? The first Pokemon games have an infamous bug where even 100% accurate moves have a 1/256 chance to miss because they put a "less than" sign instead of a "less than or equals to" sign in the hit calculation code.
I was initially going to say I was very confident it was intentional because at first, I wasn't able to think of a way to make the high ground penalty a branchless operation (that is, an operation that doesn't do an “if” check; branchless operations are advantageous in that the computer can more easily predict exactly what code is going to run so it can start optimizing ahead of time, even if it doesn't know what numbers it's going to be working with). However, I did figure out a way to possibly make it branchless, depending on how the elevation differences work in the game engine. I'm guessing the elevations are defined as integers, so for example on a map with three different elevations, the low ground might be 0, the middle ground might be 1, and the high ground might be 2, so in that case, the engine could compare the elevation of the target to the elevation of the attacker and evaluate (target elevation > attacker elevation) as a boolean, which under the hood is just 0 if false and 1 if true, and that boolean can then be multiplied by whatever the target number is for the miss chance (I think it's 125?), and then grab the next value off the random number table (games back then never used true random number generators, so getting a random number is a very quick operation) and then compare that random number to the miss chance. That would mean still doing the miss check even in cases where an automatic hit is intended, assuming it was intended to be an automatic hit, but by making it branchless and using a random number table, that may still be faster than checking if the target is not on a higher elevation and returning an automatic hit if true. So it stands to reason that it could easily have been a mistake of checking for > rather than >=. My guess is it was probably intentional though, but you have certainly put the question in my head.
Artosis, you said to tasteless the other day that if you were to teach him Terran you'd teach him a goliath opener (I think I remember correctly). As you said it was the simplest and easy way to open terran. Can you cast a Terran game with that Goliath build?
Idk man the game has 6 matchups, not 3, even if the mirrors are less common than the non-mirrors. I think the mirror matchups have something to offer. Mirror Match Mondays sounds like a great idea.
16:18: Re: the observing here at the very bottom part of the map, I wish you'd temporarily turned off the game UI. Made it really hard to see the units otherwise.
I actually like TvT and ZvZ equally. ZvZ at least is usually quick and is literally all micro+tactics and TvT is all positioning+tactics. Both great. Thanks for all the vids arty
Wow, I actually didn't know Vultures could miss on even ground at all, that's tragic. Haven't played in ages, probably just chalked it up to some kind of weird bug or mechanic if it ever happened back in the day.
One small request, for mirror matchups, could you write >Speed (T-Purple) vs Baskin (T-Orange) on Pantheon. in the description? Knowing which race they are doesn't help.
And y'all were complaining in the comments about mirrors. This match was great! Fantastic little tug of war. Thanks again for the mirror matches Artosis! I won't be so annoying about it in the future!
am i the only one feeling like the 1/255 chance to miss has started being seen happening much more in the last year than anytime before? Maybe im crazy but i feel like this has been happening more and more lately..
I see wraiths, i hit like and watch. Edit : Please increase the in-game music a bit. Want to fully enjoy StarCraft's sountracks alomg with your commentary.
Called it! and I gotta agree with Artosis, TvT is the best mirror (and I'm a protoss player, so it's not because I play TvT). Edit: dude, the winner of this game is SO GOOD. He's a got a new fan today
Its clear why Baskin isnt a Progamer lol. His decisionmaking really is on a lower level than SSL level pros. Everyone makes mistakes but he makes many and they cost him the game.
Oh wow, you're doing a mirror matchup, though you are CLEARLY biased towards Terran to a degree that is a bit too obvious, though I do appreciate the insight that comes with it.
Loving the mirror matchup uploads. And that other first ZvZ was also sick as hell
thank you random viewer!
If you give an Artosis a high level ladder replay he’ll want some chills to go with it
Oh man another Terran victory. Clearly the race is OP
Dude, spoiler alert would be appreciated, maybe!??? You insensible doofus 😤
Omfg spoilers 😩

@@MaleMan-o7 Air superiority fighter , no the wraith isn't that good. Edgy
Speed is one of the best users of Repair. All the time he's getting massive value by just sending an SCV to keep his mech alive.
So underutilized.
TvT is probably my favorite mirror match. I wouldn't mind a TvT being added to the mix more often, especially if it's a high quality game like this one.
Notice the colors? PURPLE AND ORANGE? Mix them together you get: BROWN BREW

Baskin canceled cloak at about 10:50, chills unrelated because I have a fever.
lmao
I've noticed Speed does a good job of bringing up an SCV or two to repair his damaged units

Arty's commandments:
1 Terran is the hardest race
2 Terran mirror is the best matchup ever

@@thunder____ I appreciate the detailed response.
The lockdowns on the dropships and zoning nukes on the tank lines were awesome!
we want mirror matchup moandays boysss
If speed is number one and number 2 on the ladder, does that mean he had to play against himself?
TvT is the best mirror match unless it's a 45 minute tankline stalemate OR it's a hive-tech zvz, which is immediately the best.
14:50 "If he makes it, this is a really good move."
Now that we got the Mirror Match Monday (through wednesday) done is it time for Flash Friday?
Lol! Was not expecting a reference to those Give a Mouse a Cookie books
I think there should be a wheely turrets upgrade where SCVs can push the turret to new positions. Would make TvT more dynamic.
and PvT horrible
Seriously tho, what if we could have smaller and cheaper turrets with less damage that SCV can carry around like psy disruptor.
The next time you have a thought....just let it go.
Were are flash games? Did he leave again?
He is still playing as far as I know. I watch games of his on other channels
@@TheDesertSpear Yea but the games you see o the others i think they are games from summer, not from today. Im not really sure yet.
I believe Artosis mentioned that he is currently only playing in custom games instead of ladder games, meaning we don't have access to the replays.

Speed feels like a boa constrictor slowly squeezing the map out. TvT when there is a pretty clear difference in skill feels so oppressive.

PvP: 15 minutes
ZvZ: 10 minutes

You miss one in 256 shots, not, 255, right? If you hit 0 on the RNG roll from 0-255, it misses.
0-255 is 256 numbers.
Terran players must all hate themselves.... watching a TvT is so gross, I can't imagine playing this race all day every day.
