Keanu's response to the Matrix question was so profound and heartfelt that Colbert didn't need to proceed with a John Wick question. Wrapped it up right then and there. Great moment.
Reminds me of that other interview with Keanu where Colbert jokingly asked "what happens after we die, Keanu?" He sighed and said "the ones who love us will miss us" after which Colbert promptly ended the interview. I will never forget that response. There was nothing else to say after that.

I just had the most amazing experience meeting Keanu Reeves! After watching an old interview on E! News, where he mentioned connecting with fans through an exclusive members club, I couldn't believe I would actually get the chance. But it happened!
That's amazing! I saw that E News interview too, where he talked about connecting with fans through the Radiant Reservation . It's really touching to see celebrities like Keanu making that kind of effort for their fans. Radiant Reservation seems like an incredible opportunity! How did you manage to be part of it? I'm totally living vicariously through your experience!
Keanu was so genuine and down-to-earth, which made the whole encounter unforgettable. His dedication to his fans truly shines through, and I'm still on cloud nine from the privilege of meeting him!
I genuinely love diving into RUclips and immersing myself in all the educational videos available, especially the interviews with Keanu Reeves. If Keanu ever decided to launch his own RUclips channel featuring this kind of insightful content, I’d eagerly share it with my future kids as a must-watch educational resource. His wisdom and perspective would be invaluable lessons for them.
I still can't believe it happened. All that is required upon discovering them is simply to respond to their emails . So, I joined this exclusive members club and they organize private meetings with public figures of your choice . It's like winning the lottery! Meeting Keanu was surreal. He's even more charming in person.

@2:03 I still remember the last time Keanu made me cry by responding to one of Stephen's questions. It was when Stephen asked, "What happens to us when we die?" And, after taking a breath, Keanu said, "We will be missed by those who loved us the most." This guy takes "sincerity" to a higher level. Props to Keanu. Live long and prosper in good health, dude.

Yeah! He's someone who recognizes that it's not about him. Like the Ancient One said to Dr. Strange in the first film. He's truly amazing.
That is one moment in history that I constantly remember. There is not a single month in my life since that night, in which I don't remember that exchange of words. It's truly life changing.
The only other moment "tv" has changed my entire view on life was when Vision perfectly described grief to Wanda.
And similar to in this interview, Colbert promptly ended the interview right there, because there was nothing else to say after that. I will never forget that answer.

I think it is the only movie in my entire life that I can still remember walking out of the theater afterwards. Maybe also Jaws, but that was so long ago that I might be imagining it.
The answer, his face, his body language, how he changed his emotion so fast just gave me chills and I cried. He knows the truth. 😢

To this day, The Matrix remains my favorite movie of all time. Full stop. It's amazing to see him get so emotional when he talks about it.
I feel exactly the same way! No one else I know truly gets how phenomenal that movie is. Seeing his reaction got me emotional too.

I remember when it opened. I was a teenager. I was in to piracy (on the internet lol) and involved in a lot of what were called 'scene' groups. When I saw the Matrix, it was almost the same thing in away, with this underground group doing crazy things. It really just hit differently. I remember I was thinking about this movie for weeks afterwards.

The absolute sincerity in His voice and the body language to match .. that is the true definition of humility and grace . I’ll say it again this man has the most amazing soul . And I’ve never seen more than clips of his work .. only interviews over the years . I would still love to just sit and talk to him for as long as he would stay .. the draw is very real .
I hope for the day I see him casually walking the streets of NYC or that we share a train ride together.

Until this day, The Matrix is the only movie I've watched numerous times that I don't know how many times I've watched it. And Keanu is the only celebrity I admire because of his sincere, authentic, and down to earth personality. Whenever he's on an interview, I watch it and click like. I wish him all the best.

I was in a very, very weird (and dark) place in my life when the Matrix came out. I had dropped everything and travelled to the other side of the world. One day walking around Montreal I happened by a theatre showing super cheap end-of-run movies and walked in. They were showing the Matrix. I must have watched it 4 times, and in some weird way it got me back on track. I was definitely one of those people Keanu helped!

@@ragreen2 If you're referring to The Matrix movies, the fourth one is set years after the first three...well, like almost 2 decades worth of Matrix years after the first three. :grin: The plot explains why both Keanu's Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss' Trinity look their current ages instead of their ages in the original movies. I personally really liked the fourth Matrix movies but I know a lot of other people did not...and that's okay. 😸

This man is so unbelievable under pressure. You can tell he was uncomfortable with the rapid fire questions having to summarize large moments in his life in a few short words just as he was during his legendary appearance a few years ago... but he's a true gentleman and manages some of the most real/heartfelt responses you don't often see.
The way he answered the Matrix question got me. I became emotional. I love watching Keanu in Colbert's show.

The Matrix still holds up - story-wise, creatively, visually - all these years later. Keanu Reeves carried that film but (appropriately) gave credit to all the behind-the-scenes crew. He is thoughtful and humble and deserves his success.
Not everyone was given credit they left out two women that were part of the original story writers.
Thank the universe, a decent actor who acts and lives with real purpose. Aspirational and inspirational. I hope he lives a long, long, happy life.

While I didn't dislike The Matrix, I couldn't get the hype and found its "philosophical" content rather childish. Mind you, I had previously watched Dark City, which I loved, and The Matrix felt like a big budget action copy of it.

The reality that hits anyone as time has gone by goes beyond words. Its a realization of the time spent in one's craft, the family members and friends that no longer are around, and the knowledge that nothing lasts forever, including oneself, brings us back down to reality that there has to be something else beyond this world. You know how some things mean so much you can't put it into words. Keanu really tried to put his feelings out there about The Matrix. And the way Colbert thanked Keanu after his response to it was also genuine. Like he knew what Keanu said came from the heart.
matrix really changed a generation of young people like me never forget 1999..afte the millennium explosion cyberpunk inspiration was in every single video game and movie, tv show.. the original matrix was truly the best movie out of them all questioning life and world..of philosophical nature..you can see how Keanu took a deep breath it definitely changed him and made him super famous

I'll say it again: the sincerity, authenticity, presence, courtesy, genuine positivity, vulnerability, & humble courage all remind me of Mister Rogers when Keanu speaks. His own spirit and personality, yet with the same kind of heart, kindness, empathy and gratitude modeled and practiced by Mister Fred Rogers.
Someone said he "doesn't have the gift of gab" but they meant it kindly as in, he doesn't default to the rapid banter chat which is another style cultivated or natural to some. His gift is instead a comfort in slowing down into deeply touching and moving sincerity, drawing others along with him into great love and appreciation.

It's such a TREAT whenever Keanu comes over. In no particular order, my thoughts during this convo:
1) OUCH!;
2) Constantine 2, MAKE IT HAPPEN (plz);
3) Keanu playing Air on the G String on the cello is such a glorious image in my mind, MR. MA PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN (and music for Constantine 2 would be out-of-this-world awesome);
4) Keanu is right about The Matrix being a life-changing movie. To me, that movie is a milestone in history of cinema, everything was so perfectly done.
5) A reluctant demon?
Keanu is an Atlantean soul. Ancient and wise. What a gift to us all, thanks Keanu!!!
