Sting was very proprietary about this song he hated it when other people covered it until he heard Eva's cover. It brought him to tears. He said this is always the way I imagined it to be. When he found out Eva had passed he bought numerous copies of her CD that included this song and sent them to all of his music contacts within the industry to help get her music out there. We can all thank Sting for doing so because her music is out there for all of us to enjoy
I knew I was going to like this, but I wasn't expecting it to hit so hard. I teared up in the first few seconds. It's a beautuful of song, written and recorded by String with several covers I like including Eva, Katie Melua and Fleesh. Reading Eva's bio, it appears her illness was detected while she was promoting the album with this song on it, so she probably didn't know while recording. However, a well regarded young lady who DID know she was dying is Aleah Stanbridge - from whom I recommend "Trees of Eternity - Sinking Ships (demo version) Promo Video"
the only artist who's vocals i would put in the same category as Karen Carpenter and Anne Murray, they didn't have to reach for their notes they just flowed.

This was originally done by Sting who upon hearing this version made a copy and used it to show how he felt it should be.
