    Only 6 games in, NYR appear to be a team w few weaknesses, are very deep and have the goaltending (Igor and Quick) to make a deep run. This roster is better than last year and if Chytil, Kaako and Laff continue to improve, they have 3 potent scoring lines. And, the team is not soft.

      It would also help if the officials actually called the game by the rulebook and not ignore things. Not that it would have changed the outcome tonight but Truba should be facing a suspension for a clear head shot yet somehow Matteson gets 5 and 10 for defending a teammate from a clear head shot?

All I said was we'll see. I'll admit, I never expected Kreids to become THIS good but neither did I expect Anderson to become THIS bad either. It was a gamble after one great season, but it seemed like everyone was happy with it at the time. And I think it was one they had to take. Ain't easy getting players on the Habs like it is for us Rangers fans. That's one thing that is understated.

      @@ogdentaylor7473 got it. Coming from a Rangers fan, we had gone through some rough times while the roster had way too many young guys. They made mistakes, got bodied, didn’t show up night in night out, it was tough to watch. Once the Rangers found a blend of youth and guys in their peak, then it took off. Obviously easier said than done to accomplish this roster building.

    • @Parasis
      @Parasis Месяц назад +2

      @@HarrisonHollers True that. We've seen some dark times. It really comes down to the right blend of youth and core vets as said. The right coach at the right moment matters just as much. One thing that also really helped up elevate our game was team toughness. We don't actively play a very tough or physical game other than the occasional Trou Trou Train, or Rempe Rail, but when other teams try to steal our momentum, or stimulate their own by gooning it up, no one on this team backs down and we can handle pretty much anyone. You can see the love and true friendship with this and recent squads, too. That's a clear sign of a positive locker room. They also rarely give up. But I see that in the Habs too. There's a bit of "band of misfits" thing going on with this Habs roster but there's also a core building. Won't be long I think. And we'll be back into a semi rebuild soon enough.

      Chytil is so key to us. It can't be said enough. He needs to stay out of scrums and be careful but he plays tough too. Kakko essentially died when Chytil first got injured and is now coming back to life. And Cuylle is fitting in perfectly with them. It's a nice mix of of speed, skill and physicality most 3rd lines don't have. Makes it a LOT easier to play with the 4th.

      I get the impression that some people either don't understand the sport or are just acting in bad faith. This team is the second youngest in the league and is still in REBUILDING for at least 2 more years. So stop having unrealistic expectations and judging young players on their mistakes. That's the reality of rebuilding in the salary cap era, it's normal to suck for a while before becoming a good team.

      @@joydjinn8692 Absolutely, not to mention all the heavy contracts we'll be getting rid of in the next 2-3 years ( Anderson,Dvorak, Gallagher etc...) the arrival of players who can make a difference: Demidov,Hage,Dobes,Fowler etc... And the probable top-10 picks we'll have for the next 2 years. Then, in the worst-case scenario, we'll just have to sign 1 or 2 big names like the Rangers did, and we'll be a formidable team. But all this requires patience and long-term vision that the average emotional fan doesn't have. These people seem to have been following the team for only 6 months, i've lived through the last 30 years of this team and i prefer what i see now rather than the era of patching up and signing veterans just to make the playoffs and remain a middle-of-the-pack team.

      Coaching is a tough topic. You need the right coach for the right group at the right time and that's a really hard thing to find. A lot of it has to be internal team love and locker room dynamic. Lavi doesn't scream at our players all the time. Torts did. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Quinn helped when we were younger and building. Vigneault did alright and lost the room/Hank. Gallant did well but something happened. Lavi is the right guy at the right time. You'll get yours.

      The rule is not who’s first. If it’s close, the linesmen are supposed to blow the whistle ahead of that to avoid a potentially dangerous scenario where a player is defenseless retrieving the puck. If the offensive play is able to gain possession of the puck with no potential battle in the boards then the icing is waved. This was a bad call. The far linesman had his arm raised too.
