One of the best behs tones. Geezer is a legend.
What’s the song?
@@andrewdraga244children of the grave
I think you mean Geezah
Most “underrated” metal bassist in my opinion. Everyone who knows him loves him, but not enough people know who he is
Facts.
@@JackVac_joeblowerwell, I was gonna say “…but all the important or knowledgeable people do”…same difference lol
Oh hell yeah, one of my favorite bass tones
It's actually not bass it's behs
Day 17 of mark Hoppus behs tone PLEASE
What’s the song?
@@andrewdraga244children of the grave
Geezer actually used roundwounds. He just rarely changed them.
The GUNK holds the FUNK.
Source? I believe he used flatwounds.
@@institutionalized 2004 Bass Player magazine. Old gunky roundwounds sound like flatwounds. It can be hard to tell.
What’s the song?
@@andrewdraga244 the song here in the video is "Children of the Grave"
Incredibly talented and underrated bassist
i wouldn't say he's underrated like maybe behind cliff burton bassed on popularity but if you're into doom metal geezer buttler is treated like a god. Even sleep made a song about him "Giza Butler"
underrated lyricist as well
It’s his tone and his style that make him my favorite bass player ever…was he the best ever, probably not but IDK because that’s subjective too, but he is the reason why I fell in love with the Bass; now I am tripping over all the bass guitars I have in my house lol…
underrated? I don't think you know what that word means.
@@ewoczkowy7285 behind Cliff? Cliff is behind him.
hell yeah! geezer's the man
this is actually perfect! i never took time to appreciate how great Geezer's basslines are
Woo thanks Danny! Geezer was always my idol
His EMG’s are spectacular as well!
For once I think you've nailed it to 100%. Usually you get it to around 90% to be honest, something's always missing
When I was 13 and I first started playing I purposely blew out the speaker in my little 1x10 practice amp because I was going for that Geezer tone and to this day it sounded better than any overdrive pedal I've ever used. But what I've been missing all this time were the flatwounds. It's so obvious in hindsight since he plays like he's playing an upright (on top of the fretboard, two fingers to strike notes etc) so of course he uses flats.
I just rewatched Geezers 7 minute EMG video and it shows several clear glimpses at his Hartke Kilo heads. The graphic eq is pretty flat. Then starts to drop down at the high mids, with treble rolled off. Going off of the graphic eq, and trying to use what I could on my Rumble 100 115, bass (50hz) and low mids (330hz) are flat, high mids (1.6khz) is dialed back to about 10 o clock, and treble (8khz) is completely off. Volume and tone all the way up on the bass itself. Flats may have been used early on, but by Heaven and Hell, he was using a bc rich with dual active EMG p pickups, and his latest basses were custom laklands with his passive emg GZR signature pickup, which I have and love, and DR black beauties.
Nailed it
You nailed it. The key is obviously playing with your thumb on the fretboard of a P and letting the strings slap from playing hard. Geezer is a monster player. The early stuff is legendary 🤘
He has the most interesting bass parts of any bassist ive come across.
really nice and close my friend!
Geezer's tone on 13 is lethal.
Nailed it!!
Day 10 of asking for mark Hoppus’s bass tone
YES!!!!!!
P bass with Seymour Duncan quarter pounder through an ampeg
Why would you ever want to sound like shit?
I’ve been waiting for this day for too long:)
BEST BASSIST OF ALL TIME 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Most underrated behs player ever!
Thank you man! :DD
Geezer is the man!
I’ll be honest. Up until know I’ve thought your bass tones videos have been bad. But you smashed thos one. I hope the next to come will be as good 👍🏻
I love it!
Grand Funk Railroad bass tone, thank you Danny
Geezer Nice Bass The Great 😮
My hero !
Day 20 of asking for John Paul Jones bass tone
It's hard to say on the early albums, the amps in the studio and what they toured with changed a few times, but he used Acoustic amps almost exclusively after that. It's not a hard tone to get. I got it messing with the EQ on an SVT II.
Bro you’re always spot on! Mark Hoppus next?
I definitely think you should try to get the bass tone of Paul gray and/or Alessandro Venturella
What about Cliff Williams bass tone? He plays Stingray, flatwound and with a pick most of the time. At some songs (The Jack) he plays with his fingers, sometimes even with his thumbs (song: Who Made Who).
You will see (hear) how underrated he is (i.e. song Shoot To Thrill or even Highway To Hell)
The reason i started playing bass
Please do Simon gallop from the cure!!!!
See? Sometimes he nails it!❤
I never played flatwounds and my two favorite bass players are Harris and geezer.
Geezer's bass tone on Warning is some of the grimmest bass sound ever. On the more recent recordings he's made his tone is very different, nowadays he's using roundwounds and a lot more clank.
I wanna see you attempt the very early napalm death bass tone. Use the intro of their song sacrificed.(day 8)
Nice, another classic one. Day 10 of asking for John Wetton's bass tone
Kenny MOTHERFUCKIN Rogers!!!
Geezer also used a Rickenbacker a lot, I'm just not really sure in what album/tour or time period.
Cliff burton live solo tone? Also sick vids but i think you coukd get more modern with the outfits like dropping the hat and leather jacket and just chill in a hoodie or T shirt, pants game is pretty good rn
Great advice. You need to pluck there to get his plummy grind. You can just chuck some foam under the bridge with roundwounds and get close. Isn't the first album tone broken speakers lol?
Derek Forbes’s bass tone on “New Gold Dream” SM
I kinda recognized the Children of the Grave riff but I didn’t know their bassist was called Geezer Butler
"play over the fingerboard" shows a picture of him playing over the pickup
I think you should do Murdoc Niccal's next
Please I have been asking do Paul McCartney’s bass tone either his Rickenbacker or Hofner depending on which era of Beatles and solo work
You should do Robert Trujillo
DEAN BERNARDINI BEHS TONE (Chevelle, intro to the song "Joyride")
Wow great job replicating that tone
NICE
Hey ! Thanks for this one ! Can you do Robert Levon Been bass tone plz ?! (Day 47756)
You could of played NIB but still cool video and another one of is signature basslines
Figured it would be NIB solo/intro or Children of the Grave
Can you do Juan calleros from spanish rock band MANÁ☝️
I'd love if you tried Felix Pappalardi's behs tohn

I’ve been asking for squire for 17 days now 😭

YEEEEEESSSSS!
Day 12 asking for Tina Weymouth's bass tone
Day 6 of asking How to get Tony Campos behs tone in 30 seconds
Day 1 of asking for Vern Rumsey's bass tone.
Not particularly famous, i just idolize him and want to know more. He always used a jazz bass and played with a pick right next to the bridge, which ive started doing to sound like him.
Geezer is a top tier behsist, but you should have used his behs intro from N.I.B. Instead, that intro goes crazy, from what I hear you used a sample from children of the grave but I might be mistaken, still a killer behs riff from Geezer!
How about BC Green of Godflesh, monster tone!!
Day 21 of asking for Chris Wolstenholme's Behs tone
Glad to see it
Yes
Wait... b-b-but this was my thing :(
@@AlliedX It's actually better if multiple people ask
@@Jeltz0658 i know, I was just joking
I would really appreciate if you would do Gene Simmons Behs tone
For a long time I thought he played the song with a pick due to how aggressive it sounds. Now I see it's just the picking position and also he is known to play quite aggressive.
Please do frank bello
Day 25 of how to get fieldey’s behs tone
Ibanez 5 string, telephone cables for strings, kill the highs and crank the lows, proceed to kick the shit out of your bass. Love Fieldy.
day 1 of asking for peter hook's bass tone
First day for Paul Simon behs tone.
I think that Tommy Shannon from SRV And The Double Trouble is very underrated bass player. Could you do video about him next time?
You gotta do will rahmer of mortician
And play hard like slamming the fretboard hard
