The old one is fine just clean it out. When you take your truck to a shop they are nothing but “part changers” They make money on charging you for an overpriced part and labor instead of fixing it and benefiting the customer.

You can do a air management that you use EGR solution plus water that run through your EGR cooler and that flush cooler out. You some time check some sensors that my have have soot and have failed.
Ryan, what would you point the finger at if my truck did over the course of 6 years, about once a year or maybe twice a year? Will Billo white smoke out the back of me? And make people think that my truck is on fire. It's smoking so much with white smoke, and I hammer into the throttle. Trying to clear it out and I can back out of the throttle and go back in, and it normally goes away, and then I can go months and months without it doing it again, what would you point the finger at injectors?E g r cooler what

I don't have loss of power. Truck runs stromg but my 2016 Volvo D13 is building up pressure and leaking coolant from the overflow when climbing a hill or mountain. As the temps go up it starts to leak. Didn't do this before. I'm suspecting the EGR cooler.
I think I might be replacing my EGR cooler on my X15 tomorrow. Gonna see what Peterbilt says but I have fluid leaking from the rubber hose that connects the J pipe and the pipe with the EGR valve. Is there any normal condition where fluid should be in that system? Maybe condensation or unburnt fuel? Or would that have to be coolant. This is the 3rd time I'll have this cooler looked at and each time they've told me the cooler is good cus it's dry when they look at it but then later I get leaking out of that rubber hose again
How much power loss and lack of fuel economy could you expect from a bad EGR cooler? I just bought a 2013 Volvo with D 13 engine oil simple came back with coolant in it which they said they are replacing but while driving it also just up any standard grade at highway speeds it could not even keep a 65 mile our speed limit And also burned about 60 gallons of fuel and probably 100 miles
The purpose of EGR is not to reburn the gas. The exhaust is an inert gas that doesn't dilute the air coming in but to take up space in the cylinder and cool the burning of the combustion
Exhaust gases not perfect burn. Will burn mixing with fress air again. Cooler cooling down the recirculated exhaust amount before entering in engine again. Cooler inlet air lower nox. Here is the home work for you EGR= what is that means?

the old egr cooler you showed isnt plugged up, if your chasing egr codes, the bottom left cac cracks or the intake bolt heads are broken off,

If egr cooler is clogged like that do we clean it and reuse it or we need to replace with a new one

Ryan what is your opinion on aftermarket egr coolers? I have a cm871 and tamerx has a cooler for less than 1k the cummins one is over 2k.

does bad egr causes blue smoke early morning?
Blue smoke is from burning oil.
Bad egr would cause white smoke from burning coolant
We have EGR cleaning machine after that procedure EGR cooler like Brand New 😊
Is there a liquid solution that can clean the EGR cooler instead of buying a new one ?
