Nico Cartosio listened to Angelina sing when she was 10 and knew she would be the one he wanted to sing his only vocal song on his album, 'Melting'. The song was an adaptation of a poem by Robert Burns from hundreds of years ago. How old she was when she recorded this has never been officially told to us but she was, indeed, very young. Her articulation was off the charts, wasn't it? And every line she sang was different as she sang the story of the song to us. 'Song For A' doesn't get enough recognition. It was a very special performance by Angelina.

ALEX, Hi, I was a PATRON at the very Beginning of your Angelina Journey - you might recall MILLION MILES and SHIELD - two of my pics from back in MAY . I saw this pop up in the recommendations just after I watched the SONG FOR A video I created on my channel.
It is REALLY too bad that you didn't watch the version on my channel instead - your questions would have been answered before you knew to ask them, and you would have had answers to questions you wouldn't have know needed to be asked.
SONG FOR A is the second half of the video on my channel - I know there are other folks here in the comments that have watch my version. Let's see if I get any thumbs-up on my comment here - maybe that will give an indication as to how may in the comments have watched it and Like it.
THE POINT IS - I would ask that you watch at least the Intro section to learn WHY Angelina's SONG FOR A is truly a remarkable thing - the Song is Amazing - the STORY of the Song is equally Amazing !

It is a poem set to beautiful music and sung by a beautiful, talented child ! A winner ......one of my favorites.
She was 11 years, this song was specaly written and composed for Angelina!🙏
Please do elaborate how you know she was 11. In a separate comment here I included all the evidence that tends to indicate she was at least 12, but potentially even 13. but I am open to any info - as we know, when it comes to Angelina's age in conjunction with when she recorded stuff, it can often be an enigma. I believe this is the first song which someone wrote for Angelina to sing. Stunningly beautiful.

I think Andy was implying the *music* was written for Angelina. Nico Cartosio paired his musical composition to the “lyrics”…which were written in 1782 by the poet Burns. 😉😊🫶
Just a little info to clarify....this is what Nico Cartosio wrote describing the only song on the Instrumental album with Lyrics, from 2019: The composers description:
"Song for A is the only song on the album. It is performed by Angelina Jordan, a very young and very talented singer. I needed a bright final for my instrumental album. After the series of cold hells and Melting itself I longed for a song of a liberated soul, a soul that was set free from suffering. So, I remembered a beautiful poem by Robert Burns^ and wrote this song especially for Angelina. And she gave a sensual performance." Hope this clears up any confusion regarding this song. And as we all know, Angelina can sing ANYThING!!! Just give her the opportunity to blow your mind no matter what the genre of music is!!! Unfortunately this MASTERPIECE of music get very few views...just a shame.
@@CarlD70 I think reason for the few views is because we can't see her perform. If Nico's planned music video had actually been realized, the number of views would have been significantly higher.
Let's face it, it's a beautiful tune and - as Nico said - a sensual performance, but it's far from being in keeping with today's musical taste. Classical music, there's nothing more to say - even with that creative touch for a cinematic feel...
It would be completely different if you could see the person performing this sonic work of art, worthy of a film soundtrack. Even if you don't know her exact age of 12/13, it would have the same effect as "Feeling good" or "It's a man's world" IMHO.
Remember, this girl was the same age as she was back then when she first tackled “I Have Nothing” (15 million views).
Another reason could be: how to find it? It's not on Angelina's official channel and - with all due respect - who knows Nico Cartioso and his YT channel.
@@paulwagner9303 Nice comment Paul. I think even if the song got way more exposure AND Angelina was seen performing it, its popularity expressed as number of views, is still going to be limited. I think that’s the nature of classical music, particularly classical vocal performances. As Angelina becomes more famous, it is SHE who will bring more eyes and ears to this video.
What I think is going to become a phenomenon, is that as the rest of the world discovers seventeen year old Angelina Jordan, their minds will be blown to realize that this young girl’s oeuvre contains HUNDREDS of songs! How many more MILLIONS of more views will songs like “I Put a Spell on You” receive when Angelina is finally discovered?!
BTW, check out Boudy “The Arab Man’s” reaction and analysis to this song. He explains how ground-breaking and exceptional this Classical song truly is.
The words are from a Poem written by Scottish poet Robert Burns in about 1794... this was the only song on an instrumental CD called Melting.

@@summaEngineer I know that music may be recorded even more than a year, but easily 4 to 6 months prior to release, especially if an indie perfectionist. Nico seems the type.

Angelina moved to LA in March 2018, the Melting Album was released in March 2019. In so much that Angelina recorded the vocal in LA, that makes it most likely that she was 12, maybe turning 13. Having said that, her age is hardly relevant. At any age her voice is perfectly matched to the theme of the album.
@@lesgray8709 I thought she was off to LA just after recording Every Time We Say Goodbye, when she was 10. Sometime in the future, some PhD student will write a thesis on the ages of Angelina! Basically, though, any time from age 10 onwards her voice has lost any childlike resonances and is effectively a mature singing voice (and what a voice!)

And, believe me, this is a very difficult song to sing. It is very slow and the melody lines are very complex. But Angelina is very capable to sing (almost) everthing.... This "Song of A" is proof of that. My first impression was that it had to be a very old song, but it is not: it is especially written for Angelina.

You are right, it is, indeed, a very dificult song to sing, for it's melodic complexity. (But there is nothing that AJ can't do).

She actually was 10 pushing 11, I am pretty sure. There is a picture of her with Barley in her mouth that was shot for this album that I have seen. She seemed to still look about 10 years old.
When I hear this song I think of movies with Audrey Hepburn, perhaps in a romantic scene or wistfully looking at a moonlit sky. It is one of AJ's few songs that she uses "clear tone" almost exclusively throughout and you hear the beautiful pure quality of her voice.

The album is from 2019. Maybe Angelina recorded it 2018 when she was 12. Do you have som more information pleas add it.

This is based on a 1783 poem by Robert Burns "Among the rigs of barley "and new music by this composer. The poem has Been sung before to country and Celtic music. But the is an original Angelina jordan take. She was 13 when she did this.

Nico Cartosio wrote this song specifically for Angelina, based on a Robert Burns poem - It is the only song on his album. Melting, which has a vocal performance. The orchestral part was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London and Angelina's vocal was recorded in LA - then the two were mixed together for Nico's album.
One of their best songs ever! So damn intense and that HUGE chorus. He sounds wicked! Do yourself a favor and listen to October Ends ' new song. React to it, please 🤘
A very magical performance by Angelina, her age is hardly relevant, it's just perfect. Angelina moved to LA in March 2018, the album was released in March 2019.
