Yes, we are so fortunate she is here with us and we have discovered her. And very soon, there are millions more people coming to join us on her musical journey. But, we need to give them a heads up because when they discover Angelina and enjoy her music with a voice which will bring tears to their eyes they will also discover there is much more to it than that. Nargas Mohammedi was imprisoned in lran for fighting for womens/human rights. She got 31 years and 154 lashes. Her two children ( AJ's age) were at the ceremony. Angelina and her Grandma Mery Zamani, who you may know is Iranian, chose to perform Unchained Melody. Unchained Melody was written for a Movie in 1955 about a man imprisoned, longing to be with his family. You see why this was so appropriate and what an honor it was for Angelina. She has performed this many times, but this time with great reverence...You also show great insight, Merry Christmas. Also, Angelina looks like a Mythical Greek Queen, breath taking.

Your reaction was perfect and listening to others including the Righteous Brothers version -the best in my humble opinion because she was singing for the Nobel Peace prize recipient who is in an Iranian prison for her women’s rights beliefs while her twin children (who are Angelina’s age) are in the audience receiving their mother’s award!
Another coincidence-Angelina’s grandmother is is an internationally recognized Iranian poet and painter.
She is a DIVA and not yet 18. Sublime.
She is a healer;) The way she can make a person feel is a gift to all of us;) I have had a TBI for 25 years and all the goodies that go along with it. I listen to her or reactions to her probably 8-10 hrs a day and when I hear her voice, I briefly forget;)

Once again Angelina is channeling Euterpe (pronounced You-turp-aye), the Muse of Music, typically represented with a crown of flowers in her hair and called the "Giver of delight" by ancient poets. Only here she is elevated beyond minor goddess status and endowed with crown of jewels.
Great reaction! IMO this performance was perfect for the occasion. A beautiful song about a prisoner longing for his loved ones, honoring an Iranian woman who is imprisoned for being a women’s rights activist. I loved the fact that this rendition was subdued. Again she knew her audience and the occasion.

Angelina inspires me to do what I can to help make the world a better place, so I am asking my fellow angels to spread the story of Narges Mohammadi. Narges, is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two twin children, who are 17, spoke on her behalf at this event. The more people who are aware and call for change, the more likely the leaders of Iran will set her free. Acts of kindness, is what Angelina always reminds us to do. We angels, need to honor Angelina by doing what we can to be kind to others. The smallest acts of kindness can make a difference.

This video is a masterpiece that I have watched more than 50 times. Every time I hear the KORK Orchestra begin playing, I feel a surge of emotion because I know what is coming next: the most amazing rendition of Unchained Melody by the incomparable Angelina Jordan. She has a voice of an angel and a talent beyond words.

NAIA, thank you, as always for your sincere reaction to Angelina Jordan. The bigger the stage, the better she performs.
I thought "Unchained Melody" was a odd choice for this event, but have since learned the history of the song. More on that later.
Certainly Angelina was thrilled to be performing back in her home country of Norway, where she is a national treasure, but this performance goes way beyond that honor. She first performed at the Save the Children event at the 2014 Peace Prize event, when she was 8 years old.
Narges Mohammadi was this years' recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Narges, is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two children spoke on her behalf at this event. Most of the performers were Iranian.
We know Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, grew up in Iran and was a prodigy for painting and poetry. We can imagine the conversations Mery had with Angelina about Narges. This performance had to be extremely meaningful to Angelina and her family. I hope all the angels will spread the story of Narges and her mission, with the hope for change.
In 1954, Alex North was contracted to compose the score for the prison film Unchained (released in 1955). North had a melody he had written in the 1930s and composed and recorded the score when he was asked to write a song based upon the movie's theme. North asked Hy Zaret to write the lyrics. After first refusing, Zaret and North together wrote "Unchained Melody. Zaret refused the producer's request to include the word "unchained" in his lyrics. The song eventually became known as the "Unchained Melody" even though the song does not actually include the word "unchained". Instead, Zaret chose to focus on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time".
The film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. So indeed this song fits along with Narges being in prison and her two children, and the rest of the people who embrace freedom, calling for her release.

I was moved to see and hear Angelina singing in such an incredibly mature and charming way, this wonderful version of a fantastic song and so appropriate to the occasion, 8 years after the last time, in the same studios and with some of the musicians who accompanied her as a child, when she took her first steps into her musical future. Here Angelina was simply fantastic and "unchained", a singer who has already sung on 2 different occasions at the Nobel Prizes and at just 17 years old.💛🧡❤

I don't know what I would think if Angelina ever had a mediocre performance. There have been videos with bad sound mixing or inferior recording tech, but I've never seen her do anything less than stellar in 100s of performances. The same can't be said about most other top singers.

I'll just re-post something I wrote yesterday to another channel. It took me a few minutes to write, hence the re-post. Just some additional info.
This ceremony is always held here in Norway, and she flew in from LA to perform in her home country. The Nobel Peace Prize is one of 5 Nobel Prizes awarded every year for worthy recipients. The peace prize recipients are nominated and chosen by the Norwegian Nobel Committee, appointed by the Parliament of Norway, as per the will of Alfred Nobel, the Swedish founder of the event. He was a Swedish chemist, engineer and inventor and was the one who invented dynamite. Not very peace-like, but still. The Nobel prizes have been awarded for the last 122 years, starting in 1901. This year's prize was awarded to women's rights advocate Narges Mohammadi from Iran for her work in fighting against the oppression of women in Iran. All the performers in the event were from Iran or had Iranian descent. Angelina's grandmother Mery Zamani was born in Iran, and so I can imagine that performing here meant a LOT for Angelina and her family. Narges was sentenced to 31 years in jail and I believe 154 lashes. If you look up the lyrics and the story behind the song, you will understand that it was a beautiful choice for the occasion, and the lyrics may very well be interpreted as being told by Narges herself, and/or her family, which she hasn't seen in many years. Her son and daughter live in France, and they came to Norway to receive the prize in their mother's place. All in all this was an extremely beautiful performance, one which suits Angelina perfectly, as she has helped raise millions of dollars through the years for various charity events, and she has even been seen in the streets of LA, helping underprivileged people. A tradition that she carries on from her childhood, where her Japanese grandfather and husband to her Iranian grandmother) could be seen in the streets of Oslo, the capital of Norway, doing the same deeds. As an example, she donated the 50.000 USD that she got for winning Norway's Got Talent when she was 8, to charity. And also, she always performs barefeet to remind herself of an encounter she had with a girl from the Middle East when she was 6 years old, who was weighing people on the streets to make a living for her and her siblings, as they had no parents and were homeless. The girl had scarry feet and had no shoes, so Angelina gave her shoes to the girl. She later wrote a book about this encounter, called "Between Two Hearts", and became Norway's youngest published author at age 9. If you pay close attention, you will see that Angelina was yet again performing barefoot, staying true to herself in remembrance of the girl she met. Angelina is a beautiful human being inside and out, and an incredibly worthy artist to perform at this event.

Normally, she would stay 'spot on' with Bobby Hadfield's 'Gold Standard' rendition,
but here she brings in a goodly amount of her 'jazz roots' that include the 'breathy',
'whisper-like' responses she learned from Billie Holiday. What truly separates this
performance from her other one's is the intensive emotion laden penetration she is
able to deliver deep into the human soul. It is so fitting as a tribute as a tribute to a
great, brave woman being honored as this year's Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Wikipedia: Unchained Melody is a song written by Alex North (music) and Hy Zaret (lyrics), and it was first released in 1955 as the soundtrack and theme song for the film Unchained, hence the name. The film is about an inmate in a prison who is in the dilemma of whether he should escape or serve out his sentence so that he can be reunited with his loved one.
