That was a good solid walkthrough for someone who has not had any robot before. The very first robot I bought, I did not have anything like this and it was pretty intimidating as I was scared about what the options would do! Now , three robots later I just do! No need to be scared, it cannot really break anything or take over the world 😁😁
Hey Hansie, thanks for your feedback! It is that time of the year when people are getting their first robots for Christmas, so hopefully this is timely.
Great walk through, I got mine a week ago, but frustrated with no manual and this is my first robot. I am not satisfied with the mapping, and not having too much knowledge about the app and dont know how to delete the record. So frustrated, the 2nd thought is to return and go back to my regular vacuum. With your video, I am going to try one more time. Thank you so much.
Excellent tutorial. I just recently received my J7+ Combo and this was very helpful. I had read that many people found the mapping function to be less than ideal and this was certainly the case for me. My home is a single story uncomplicated structure. I moved everything from the floors other than the largest pieces of furniture and it still took five mapping only runs for it to create a proper map. If confusion is a robot thing then this J7+ is seriously confused. I've just finished the mapping and will now do a vacuum only run. Hopefully it will redeem itself.
Wonderful intro! Saved a return to Amazon now that I have the courage to proceed, thanks to your info! But one more quex: should I or must I move chairs, rolling side tables, and other items of furniture that are not fixed and maybe in the way of getting a full map? These are all items that don't have a fixed position with respect to walls. I was planning on moving them all out of the apartment so that they would interfere with the mapping run. Advice?
Really helpful video! Did you have to install the combo bin to also have the mopping function? Apparently I have to add it as a new product in the app (using a combo i8) but it doesn‘t really work for me and I can‘t seem to find any tutorials or infor about this online.
I would reach out to iRobot. I bought the robot and the dock as 1 unit so once added to the app everything worked. Are you saying you bought the bin for your i8?
Great walkthrough! Thank you. Question: my kitchen has a small threshold at the entrance. My combo J7+ gets stuck on it and will not go to the kitchen. What is the best solution for that situation?
See my full review video here ruclips.net/video/L5PXMjpRuq8/видео.html The only supplies you will need are the dust bags which can be found for various prices on Amazon. For repair unless it is something you can do yourself you would need to file a warranty claim with robot and send it in.
Nice video, are you planning on doing a review of the bot itself? I have the Roomba J7 Plus, without the mop, it's ok but I think Irobot is really falling behind and companies such as Roborock, Dreametech and Ecovacs have gotten far ahead of them. The Roomba still uses a camera for navigation but I think Lidar is far superior and I think Irobot should switch to that. My J7 definitely does not do well in the dark which is another advantage of Lidar, not to mention Lidar can create a map much faster. The suction power on the Roombas, other than the S9 Plus is much lower than other robots in this price range and for the price Irobot is charging for the J7 Combo, you could almost get the Roborock S7 Max V, the Dreametech L10 Ultra or the Ecovacs X1 Omni which will clean their mop pads. Also the battery is much smaller on the Roomba bots than on other high end robots. If you decide to do a full review, I would be curious to know what you think.
Hey Mike! You hit the nail on the head with all of your drawbacks on iRobot vacuums. I think they survive based on name recognition and the fact you can buy one at a lot of retail stores. The other companies are way ahead of them. My review is live.
Thanks for this very informative video. The company's Operation Manual didn't help much. I'm not very good with the computer and a robot in the house is a little intimidating. Does the J7+ come with and without the mopping feature?
Great video thanks! I just ordered my first robot vac, a J7+. I didn't realize I can't set it to clean in the middle of the night because it needs light? Is that correct? How does it do in hallways where it's dark-ish even in the day? Can you connect to two phones? Thanks again!
It works fine in the dark due to the front LED light. It obviously won't be as good as with the lights on though. No issues in dark hallways or under beds. 2 phones can be logged into the same account to manage the robot, but it must be the same account.
Hi Jamie, Just got my j7+ today, when I set my schedule and the cleaning passes, smart scrubs, does not save the setting. Do you possibly know why? Or it’s only available after a few runs?
Just got my J7+ have the app on my phone and just wanted to run it in a few spaces first. Can I do that without mapping? I have the doors closed to the rooms I don't want to do.
To remove your robot from the app, you can visit in the app Settings ➔ Remove "Robot Name". If you do not show this option, you can also visit Settings ➔ Factory Reset "Robot Name" to remove the robot this way

Great video. Not a lot of wasted time. Just highly organized information. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the feedback!
We just had ours delivered today, this was the perfect video to get started.
Glad I could help!

Glad I was able to help. The instructions for all robot vacuums never cover the app features which is why I make these videos!
One more question. I did not name the room right after mapping. How can I retrieve the map and name it. Searching but fail. Thank you.
@@zoayen Unfortunately I do not have the robot setup so I am unable to check this for you.
Great walkthrough. Also if you have an issue and take a screenshot of the cleaning map in history, you can send the logs to them.
Good to know

Thanks! I know what you are talking about with mapping. It is less than ideal.
Just noticed your video before this one where you have already done the review, going to check that out now.
What do you think?

Great glad to help! No need to move tables or charirs. Just stuff that is not normally there like clothes, boxes, toys etc.

Perfect you should get royalties from these people!

Only thing that will work is try and build a ramp to smooth out the transition.
Thank you. I'll try it@@jamie.andrews
Need a short video of adding and removing filter from vacuum
Thank you for YOUR video
My pleasure
We just got the vacuume this will help so much
Great!
Nice video. How well dose it clean, wash and vac. What is the cost of regular supplies? How do you repair unit if needed.

You are so welcome Barbara! Yes the J7 Plus is without a mop and the J7 Plus Roomba Combo is with a mop.
I thank you for explaining roomba but how do I get to map my basement whith out loosing my map of my first floor thank you
What robot do you have?
NICE AGAIN!
Thanks

Hi Jamie,
Just got my j7+ today, when I set my schedule and the cleaning passes, smart scrubs, does not save the setting. Do you possibly know why? Or it’s only available after a few runs?
I'm not certain but it might reset every time.
Just got my J7+ have the app on my phone and just wanted to run it in a few spaces first. Can I do that without mapping? I have the doors closed to the rooms I don't want to do.
I believe the first thing it will do is start mapping.
Hello this robot have only 1 setup for the power of suction?
Yes.
Roomba needs a new feature named flip, so that after it falls down the stairs onto the first floor, it can finish doing its job.
Oh lord. Does that happen often?
How do you remove a product from the app?
To remove your robot from the app, you can visit in the app Settings ➔ Remove "Robot Name". If you do not show this option, you can also visit Settings ➔ Factory Reset "Robot Name" to remove the robot this way
Not working with google command
Sorry. There are so many variables that could cause it not to work.
