I disagree. Thought the commentary this weekend was very good. Also please explain why the UCI and discovery would want to destroy downhill when they are the ones that have it for the next 6 years or so
@@henrydavis3373 The UCI have been there the whole time, the problem is Chris Ball/Discovery/ESO, and no one is suggesting they WANT to destroy downhill, I'm sure they don't, they want to make money off it, it's just that they ARE destroying downhill with all their stupid changes and refusing to hire Warner. At this point it almost looks like an intentional program to cut privateers out completely and cut the number of starters in general down significantly for next year and going forward, which would certainly suit them by making it smaller, cheaper and easier to control from a TV broadcast point of view. But then again maybe they are just plain old incompetent, either way it blows. If you do actually prefer it and are not just trolling your in a very very small minority of people who do.
@@-TheRealChris Its not a matter of preference its a matter of enjoyment. I enjoyed RedbullTV and I enjoy this as well. If you really think warner is the key to a successful broadcast then that tells me that Warner was the only thing holding the redbull broadcast together. Cedric and Ric get better every race and clearly put in effort to get better. Having aaron and myriam come in was great for technical insight into rider mentality etc. No they do not have 20 years experience commentating so its going to take them a little bit to get it perfect. At the end of the day if we really want downhill to grow we should be focused on exploring changes and things in a positive manner rather than a negative one. Just saying "Warner was the best, this sucks now" or things similar does nothing to help the sport grow.
Great video! Always on point! Thanks for giving Aaron Gwin a shoutout. He made the race even more interesting. I enjoyed every bit of information he put out.
What made this race much more enjoyable was aaron gwin's commentary. This guy did the Work the commentators were supposed to do: Talked to riders and told their thoughts and stories.
What an excellent analysis! It shows how much the smallest changes in line can affect what comes next. I think about this a lot when I'm riding. There's speed to be had with every nailed line, no matter how small. They all add up. Great video, thanks!
Rick is just awful, either stating the blindingly obvious, or just repeating whatever has just been said. He must have explained what tearoffs are about 50 times now... and why did he have to say "Loudenvielle Peyragudes" every single time?!🤦♂
@@augustmenetre3486 I particularly enjoyed the part where it started following a rider, turned the wrong way and ended up flying back up the trail. They just had to cut the feed to somewhere else 🤣🤦♂
I´m pretty sure Thibaut Daprelas handlebars snapped. Thanks as always for cool and informative insights - these events just wouldn´t be the same without you Ben!!
Agreed - I'm surprised more haven't picked up on this. It's definitely snapped when they pick the bike back up. looking at the slomo replay it looks to snap throwing him forward.
Favorite bit was definitely Aron Gwin in the booth! He single handedly saved the commentary. I've honestly been having a hard time getting a hard on to broadcast. Warner and Eliot never get me down in that regard... lol. Anyway, favorite thing! Aron!❤
Love t analysis! + all t associated highlights.. always happy to beat your application of t white pen (in my mind) but as for t speed these people are going… I’m in awe. cheers Ben from NZ.
Would although interesting how much time Nina and others lost on the last jump. 😉 some were on a good run and screwed up the jump and lost 1sec on the last few meters of the track!
Those spectators after Duprella rushing to get his bike, I think if you help a rider to get his bike , disqualification for the rider, don’t touch their bike
Aaron on commentary was LIGHTYEARS better than the standard team. The regular two are so bad it's stopped me enjoying the racing. I have to mute it just to deal...
DSQ for missing course markers and NOT gaining an advantage seems overly punitive! Can’t it be like moto or F1? Even a small penalty would seem fairer for someone going wide and losing time
I hate the new course markings but even I have to say that would create a total cluster, round the poles is DQ unless you push up around the pole and re enter the track where you left it, its just the old version of widely spaced poles and tape was much clearer and better.
i agree DSQ is harsh a 5 or 10 second penalty would be enough he already lost time with the mistake , if he would of stopped and walked 25 meters back up the track to rejoin would that of been more entertaining for the viewer
Thank you so much for doing these (along with Jenna, Bernard, (previously GastoFlat #letthekestralfly ), Dialed, Edbull, WynTV, MoiMoiTV, Dean Lucas, Vital, ect and so on), they are very enjoyable and especially valuable to those of us who cant get the live stream. Cheers.
A casual observer like me would never understand the what and the why without these videos. Amazing stuff 👏👏👏👏 Also big up daprela you absolute savage! Every race he steals the show
Looks amazing! Loooove the recap. I gave up watching due to the wacky semi-final format. It just sucks. Cant wait to see in person the WC race in the snow at Snowshoe and MSA. sigh. We were such a coverage high the last 5 years. Thanks for keeping the WC relevant with your coverage.
Ben Cathro does more to boost UCI DH than UCI will ever do on their own ...
The truth hurts... true Dat though.
God I miss Red Bull and I thought I would never say that. UCI ruining all bike racing for the foreseeable future. Let's go.

Antoine Vidal's "meeting" with the tree was one of the raddest things I've seen in a while!
This is 100% the best and most insightful content for the world cups. Keep up the great work. Gwin should be in the booth every week.
Great video! Always on point! Thanks for giving Aaron Gwin a shoutout. He made the race even more interesting. I enjoyed every bit of information he put out.
Aaron has made all the difference these two last races. Amaury not so much...
Your perspective and analysis are always super entertaining and insightful. Hope to see you riding next weekend!
Absolutely loved those sections, keep them coming!
#Cathrovision!best DH coverage for years!
AaronGwin was amazing! Finally some educated and prepared announcing!
Gwin was excellent, provided great insight that's been missing so far this season
What made this race much more enjoyable was aaron gwin's commentary. This guy did the Work the commentators were supposed to do: Talked to riders and told their thoughts and stories.

I learn soo much from your analysises Ben. You're doing the mountainbike-world a huge favor!
Gwin made it 1000% better, better camera angles too
Rick is just awful, either stating the blindingly obvious, or just repeating whatever has just been said.
He must have explained what tearoffs are about 50 times now... and why did he have to say "Loudenvielle Peyragudes" every single time?!🤦♂
Camera angles were still fucking horrible half the time the drone was 200 ft in the air
It drives me absolutely crazy every time he says it.
@@augustmenetre3486 I particularly enjoyed the part where it started following a rider, turned the wrong way and ended up flying back up the trail. They just had to cut the feed to somewhere else 🤣🤦♂
Absolutely mandatory viewing if you're following the DHI. Thanks to Ben and thr team for providing!
This is the most detailed rundown of the races that is out there. Thank you.
I agree Ben, Gwin was great in the commentary booth!
Superb analysis Ben, hope to see you in action in Les Gets
Ben videos are the must watch every time. Thanks Ben!
Ben‘s analysis is always insightful and fun! Thanx!!!
This is the best, and most informative post UCI DH race show, thanks Ben!
Best race recap so far! Nice work team!
I´m pretty sure Thibaut Daprelas handlebars snapped. Thanks as always for cool and informative insights - these events just wouldn´t be the same without you Ben!!

NIce one Ben - awesome Analysis and yes, Aaron was awesome in the booth!
Ben's analysis is so great to watch

Anyway, favorite thing! Aron!❤
Absolutely love Cathro man, could listen to his analysis all day long 👌🏼
Thanx Ben!! Sick video as always!! And Yes! Gwin killed it on the commentary!!!
RUclipss closed caption said you introduced yourself as Ben Casserole.
Ben’s new nickname, lol!
@@graemeesmith😂
Bernard was on for a good result, shame about that turn that took out so many riders
Man. He's easily in for P2. But BK is on a mission this year and he's going to win, one day or another. No doubt.
P13 with a crash was insane.
Great race, great analysis! Best in the business. I wish it was an hour long, but understand why it isn't.
Love t analysis! + all t associated highlights.. always happy to beat your application of t white pen (in my mind) but as for t speed these people are going… I’m in awe. cheers Ben from NZ.
Such a cool track!
Good presentation Ben!!!
Funny how the subtitles pick up on stuff wrong “hi I’m Ben Casserole”
Thanks a lot Ben :)
the best analysis!
Those vids are so great
Friggin ace video Ben,great analysis
For some reason this video opened up with closed captions on. "Hello everyone, my name is Ben Casserole" 😂😂
Cud gwin take cedrics place I enjoyed listening to Aaron's input
Would rather they get rid of Rik personally.
Totally agree Gwinn was dope.
Best channel eeeeeevaaaaaaar.
I was already expecting T Daprela looking for his bike after the crash to be a featured highlight of the race.
My favorite bit was when the racers went down the hill.
Litterally
Recap level 9000
4:26 Damn Ben thats pretty long!
Where do we watch these?
love the drawing :) !!
4:26 this one?
ben and gwin for commentary
Gwin was really job in the booth. Maybe have him there until he heals up eh?
sorry for caps but yes.... GWIN MADE THE COMMENTARY 100 TIMES BETTER !! ... all 3 men stepped up and made it work this week !
I was wondering how Bruni shot past Finn in the overall, a DSQ would do it
Maybe it was a good thing that the junior run afterall
Just curious, how is gapping to flat a mistake for a rider? As mentioned for Dakotah Norton’s run
A slam to flat decelerates you in it's own right but especially so compared to landing on the downslope of the intended landing
@@oliverbourne9599 Does that mean Dakotah Norton should have landed just slightly earlier on the downslope part?
@@wslee2482 Yes, would have been more time efficient, which was why that was shown and listed here as one of the 'mistakes' on his run
So many crashes seemed that maybe all the disruption and noise around the new format etc, etc, etc had an effect on the riders?
So we're not talking about BKs 1 foot can into the finish line, huh? OK! 😄
Special call out to Ethan Craik
4:10 interesting uuummmm 😳
Ben n1
here so early towatch, youtube has not even processed and made the quality available any better than 30p yet !
quick releoad the page and 1080p is available now!
👏👏👏👌🤙❤
I jumped out of my seat when BK and Deprela crashed. Super disappointed:(
I like watching someone else crash! 😅
The mtb world needs a new Rob Warner could Cathro be the saviour 🤔🤔
Why so many crashes you ask?
Slippery af is the answer
I payed for a years sub to GCN+ and the coveredge is G U F F id much rather watch Ben
Aaron on commentary was LIGHTYEARS better than the standard team. The regular two are so bad it's stopped me enjoying the racing. I have to mute it just to deal...
My favorite bit was....oh wait I didn't watch because I live in the US and the UCI apparently hates us.
Is GCN not available in US?
Nina's win last week WASN'T a surprise, second time you've said it, Ben. Clearly she's worked hard to earn that win.
DSQ for missing course markers and NOT gaining an advantage seems overly punitive! Can’t it be like moto or F1? Even a small penalty would seem fairer for someone going wide and losing time
Can you imagine the debates on if an advantage was gained or not. That doesn’t bear thinking about. This way is nice and simple and clear for all
Not getting wrapped in tape or poles and crashing hard is an advantage.
That course was marked as wide as a motorway. Fair result.
My fav bit was your penis drawing
Awesome commentary and break down of how/why things often turned out how they did! No one, NO ONE, does this as well as Cathro. (4:10 😂 👏 😂 👏)
Cheers.
Great recap, Ben. And yes, Gwin did a great job, too, can't wait until he's in the saddle again. Crazy race, for sure!
Dapréla is binary digital. 1 or 0
Perfect video.
Gutted for Finn.
Analysis on point, love the insights from the highest level
Great recap!! Super insightful! 👍👍
This race looked gnarly. I would have loved to see it in person.
Ben Casserole - see subtitles at 0:02 ;-) lol!
Kade always put a show for the crowd ahahah, what a man!
4:00 I'm pretty sure this video infringes Hambini trademarks
I wouldn't say Nina's win was a surprise, totally expected as she is just building up from injury , and is super fast
Imagine Ben and Aaron in the commentary booth! Yes, I know: I’m some kind of fantasist that believes in good sense 😮
The best coverage of DH continues 👌 Put Ben in the commentary box?
Sorry but this offering sent me to my bed, couldn't keep my eyes open, so boring.
Ben Cathro, love your videos. Will there be more PB race team videos in the future?
Thank you Ben for this excellent video !
Most analytically enjoyable Ben
Who's that creeping on the couch back there?? haha
My favorite bit Cathro… was you ❤
Damn baik highlights!
