  • The pursuit of a clean engine bay and smooth firewall on #projectEgoBruise
    Showing how I moved the wiper motor to inside my fender, to keep wiper function but get rid of the big ugly eyesore that is the WIPER MOTOR.
    I give #FoxWerks "Doug Yeargan" IG: @90boostcoupe Full credit for this idea. Although I do not know any specific details on how Doug his mod like this, I know he made it possible, so this is my take on his great idea.

  • @blackhat4968

    I wonder if you could have connected the wiper motor to the driver wiper instead of making the long arm to the passenger side. OTOH, by connecting to the passenger side there is only a small change in push/pull angle of the rod, But if it was connected to the driver side there would be a lot more change in the angle and might put to much stress on the connection point?

    • @HOUSEOFDULA
      @HOUSEOFDULA  3 года назад

      Actually you could, and yes...the LONG arm causes some more vibrations and reverberations due to the length, but you dont want that arm TOO heavy. So, yes maybe could have swapped the pivot point. Just make sure the length from center of arm rotation to "pivot" rod is the same. This would effect wipe range if that makes sense...from park to full sweep would be altered.

    Why couldnt you readjust the wiper position on the mount at the windshield to compensate for the park position?

    • @HOUSEOFDULA
      @HOUSEOFDULA  3 года назад +1

      Because the motor is mid sweep. If you left it and just adjusted the wipers in park, your wipers would go halfway up the windshied and then halfway DOWN across your fender. Park has to be in a spot that pull the rod all the way to the stop towards the driver fender. This is true with this mod as well as factory setup. The issue is when you move the motor your changing this park spot about 45 degrees.

    Thx for sharing this but got a question couldn't you have just moved the wiper arms on the part that sticking up through the cowl where they would be in the down position without moving the arm on the motor

    • @HOUSEOFDULA
      @HOUSEOFDULA  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, I explain this in the video (diagram part). But it because the motor rotated 45 degrees putting the park is a 9 o'clock position, and needs to be in a 6 0'clock. You see when the arm furthest away from the windshied, pulling the rod to the max point towards driver, the wiper is in the lowest position on the windshield. When you rotate the motor the rod stops in a different spot, no matter the wiper itself, it stops in "MID WIPE" so, if you compensate and adjust the wiper, then when you turn it on it will half sweep up the windshield then half down the fender of the car!

  • @ryanjackson4759
    @ryanjackson4759 3 года назад

    I could be wrong but couldn't you just hook the linkage extension up with the default park position and place the wiper arm on the splines at the correct position?

    • @HOUSEOFDULA
      @HOUSEOFDULA  3 года назад +1

      No sir. One would think. I did :) When the arm is fully extended, the wipers are in the most DOWN position, pulled away from the car. As the arm rotates 180 degrees, its in the full UP position. The issue when you move the motor, the PARK puts the range in mid-point. So if you just adjust the wiper arms on the splines, Soon as you turn it on the wipers will sweep halfway up the windshield, then halfway down onto your fender!

    Just watched the video - very cool mod I'll be doing but... Couldn't we just place the wiper arms at the park position seeing as the attachment points are splined without having to alter the motor??

    • @HOUSEOFDULA
      @HOUSEOFDULA  Год назад

      You would think but no. I tried to explain this as well as I could starting at 11:25. It have to do with where the lever stop on the motor affecting the length of the rod, not the "clocked" location of the wipers. I "SHOULD" have demonstrated this in the video but instead tried to explain it. No matter where you mount / clock the wipers the issue if if you dont change the motor "park" position, the motor stops / parks with he wipers at mid point BECASUE we rotated the motor 45 degreed. Lets say you move the wipers to the bottom of the windshield...if you do that when you turn on the wipers they will sweep halfway UP the windshield, then start back down to your set park postion only to not stop and keep sweeping below the windshield and down onto your fender! lol It took me watching this happen before it made sense.

  • @TD-3269

    Any Idea what would cause your park position to shift? My 93 Foxbody when turned off, the wipers go to the lowest point then come back up about 2 inches. So it appears my park has shifted about 5-10 degrees past the original park position.

    • @HOUSEOFDULA

      No cruise on this car, but yes a factory car with cruise you have to lower the cruise canister to make room. This doesnt affect the tuck, in fact it helps because it brings that wiper motor out of the engine bay.
